Seriously considering selling my new FD…

I am just gauging interest in the car at the moment and it will be available at the beginning of June after Rotor Stock 3. It will be on display all weekend on the OPIE OILS stand so you can have a look at it and I’ll be around for you to ask me silly questions.

It's a 1994 Type R (twin oil cooler) 1308cc Twin Turbo manual box with 6 months tax and 12 months MOT.

Selling points:

• Overhauled Engine in Japan
• Engine Stabiliser Bar
• RE Amemiya Exhaust (under 100db for track days)
• Dragon Silenced mid pipe de cat
• Dragon pulley Kit
• HKS Earthing Kit

Bad Points:

• Front tires are bald due to the camber
• Front aero held on by DW™ cable ties drilled through to wings (I think it looks sweet but others may not agree)
• Front arches were cut in Japan (not rolled) the passengers side one is poor
• Side skirts have seen better days, a few cracks on the front
• Interior is the original red
• Under bonnet is the original red
• Rear hatch needs repairing
• Standard diff in the car (biggest let down of them all)

Although none of them are serious it may put off a few ‘show and shine’ people, hard core drifters hopefully won’t mind them and appreciate that this car has been used the way it should be, S-I-D-E-W-A-Y-S

There isn't a lot left of the interior, carpets have been removed along with the rear ‘seats’ and plastic around the boot, the seats and spare wheel come with the car for you to bin. The heater and air con is still in the car but the controls have been removed, easy 5 min job to relocate them for when it rains and you need a de mist.

PLEASE, no timewasters or tests pilots. Yes RX7s are expensive to run so don’t ask about the MPG.

Don’t believe the negativity about the rotary engine, it's not an unreliable engine if looked after and modified sensible i.e. correct fueling matched to the extra air flow then it’ll be just as reliable as any boinger engine, the tips and seals are service items. A rebuild on a 13B is a lot cheaper than an RB.

Don’t try to haggle on the price because the body work isn't straight. I’ll bounce your head twice and dunk it in a basket if you do.

Will consider a P/X with anything Jap and RWD, like the idea of an 86 or a S14, Sil80 or Silvia but would need cash my way unless it's super tyte yo.

I’m asking for £6750 for my car so P/X + cash my way would be ideal and I won’t have to go hinting for other cars.

Currently how the RX stands it's a sorted car but not enough for me, I could spend a few more thousand on it and get a single turbo conversion, FMIC, do more to the fuel system but dont have the time as I now have a propper job :(

If no one's intersted then I will keep it and develop it more over time.

No I'm an MCP currently working for an extreme sports shop, I have a bad habbit of buying cars without thinking it through and realising that I don't actually need or want them so then sell them on. My last RX7 I had for just over a year and finaly sold it off last month. I sold it for £2k less than what I paid and thats after spending £8k on it. I had a 180SX to use as a fun daily runner but the other RX blew another engine and I needed to get £3k fast.

There seem to be alot of people on here who buy cars and sell them on after little time, dont see any comments made on there posts about them being a trader. If your not intersted in the car don't post.
 
Sorry my bad, forgot that. It's about 90,000 Miles but not original engine, suspension, clutch, bushes bla bla bla and RX7s don't rust. Does drive and feel like new.

ok thanks, any idea when the rebuild was done and has it got the receipts?

Also any idea of what sort of power it is?

No no idea at all but I can arrange a compression test which usually is a good indication of the engines health along with the vacuum at idle. It starts fine from hot and cold, all the time ive had it it's never gone above 90deg, longest trip was about 150 miles and she run sweet as a nut the whole way.

I have the auction sheet but not a translated version to post here, iirc it just said overhauled engine, didnt say when.

It's runing stock boost and feels about 280ish at the wheels, might get it on the rollers soon to see the exact figure but i'd be suprised if its more than that.

when i was checking for this car it said that it had an brand new engine in it ;x... thnx for the pm btw but lost to much money on my last civic.. about .. 10.000euros :P..have to get back from that..

I think that when this car was in Japan it had a different engine in it, the way the chassis is set up with super stiff suspension and extremely tight handling it would be silly to keep an almost stock engine in there, the fuel system, water injection and Dragon stuff were added by me once it landed.

I think that’s where the new engine bit comes from, I don’t want to miss lead people in saying it’s got a new engine, It did mention an overhauled engine but iirc not how many KM its done.
 
its a nice car mate but from looking at your profile etc all you ever seem to do is sell cars out of 15post started by you 9 of them have been you selling
i dont know if this is normeal but this is your second rx7 that i know of

anyway mate good luck with the sale
 
I have only sold 2 cars, my old RX7 and my 180SX. Yeah this is my 2nd RX7.

I want something cheaper to modify and repair for when things go wrong. My last RX7 was off the road for 4 months once :cry: it's not a nice feeling.

don't these need a rebuild every 60k?

have you definately got receipts for the rebuild?

When were the rotor tips last changed? Are you running octane booster at the moment? These things are normally mapped to run ~100 octane. Has it got a powerFC? Can you post it's optimum running temps of air/oil etc...

ended up buying a turbo mr2, its got lots of toys on it, was working out my incoming's and if anything went wrong with an rx7 i seriously couldnt afford to fix it, plus petrol prices would kill me as I need to use it for work. I will get one in the end.

It's mentioned on the auction sheet. No difinate proof.

Guess when the engine was rebuilt in Japan. Compression test will give a good indication of engine state.

Running on optimax or 99octane and the silkolene pro boost, no det and its runnign stock boost.

No power FC, stock ECU so cant do data logging.

I always wait for the idle to settle before moving off, wait 'till it's at been at 80c for a while before putting the boot in. Always give it plenty of time to cool down, oil and coolant checked before every drive. Only use the best oil provided by OPIE for the rotary engine.

The car was checked and serviced by Dragon less than 1 months ago.

If you are fairly local we can arrange to meet up so you can go over her yourself.

Will probably change the plugs soon for 10s and 11s as this worked better on my last rotary. I believe its got 9s all round. The plugs are £120 alone.

Oh its also got 8mm blue ignition leads (not sure what make)
