Southwall Smokers... Lydden Hill Drift Day 27th April 2013

I really wanted to skid lyd but after febs poor performance I've been put off which is a shame. Has any changes been made since all the chaos? Not having a pop because I know alot of hard effort goes into making these days go ahead. Maybe it was just a one off thing. Seemed very unprofessional in comparison to other events.

When you say the chaos do you mean the briefing? or/and the drivers lack of respect to the marshals and flags?

The briefing i agree was so bad i was ashamed so i'm expecting that to be 100times better this time out, I dont want this to sound/be an excuse but it was a new clarke of the course taking the briefing and i think nerves got the better of him as it was his 1st event.

The drivers wont be ignoring flags from here on in, if they do i have asked lydden to pull them in and have serious words, a 2nd time and you might not be going back out in the next session, 3rd time and that will be it for the day, alot of that is down to the poor briefing in feb and a lack of respect from the drivers, most must know what a yellow flag means i'm sure.

Signing on being the other issue people have is mostly down to people all joining the que at once(both drivers + passsengers), new plan will be for drivers to sign on first then passengers will be allowed after.

If theres anything else we can do to improve these days please do say and we'll do everything we can to put it right for you. If you dont tell me the issues i cant fix them.

Just to warn everyone i'm out of the country for 2 weeks as of 10th april,
The villa we're at says it has wifi so hopefully i'll be able to get online but having said that the last one we used said it had sky and it didnt work.

Cheers for the reply. Its probably been mentioned before but my main concern was the briefing. Because of the lack of it and the enormous amount of new drifters this really did show on track. It was like a banger race out there! I know everyone has to start somewhere but it seemed the wrong place to me. My friend was more concerned about his car getting wrote off by some careless yob than actually enjoying the track. Was such a shame cause the bdc events were awesome. Now I know its totally different, organisers and budget etc but I just expected something alot better. Seemed too crowded etc but I can understand you need the numbers to make the day go ahead. I love the track its just from that experience has put me off. Hopefully those small glitches get sorted cause I'd love to take my own car there. I can sympathise with the new guy doing the briefing but important things like that need to be done right. Peoples hard earned cash at stake. Organisers cant expect everyone to know what there doing on track, could of been a whole lot worse to be honest. I remember repeatedly seeing the same cars lap after lap causing accidents and asking myself why they wernt pulled off the track. The groups were too messed up I think. They ended up merging different groups together. Btw im not having a go im just being honest with my opinions which as above is what the organisers need to improve it etc. Cheers for the discussion

How beginner friendly is this meet..... I've never run on a track before.. well only in karts. I'm obviously gonna hog the track at dwyb but will I be ready?

id make sure you are totally comfortable at santa pod before going to lydden. yes some people have been there on their first day but they dont learn how their car reacts and cause accidents and waste time. it will be best for your money and seat time too

All booked :D can't wait!!

Just got one question following my last track day at Lydden. If someone goes into the gravel will they be pulled out or just left there until the end of the session?
I just really wouldnt feel comfortable a). pushing my boundaries if i know my car's going to be left in harms way if i go off or b). going in flat out if i'm not only going to be in the gravel but also potentially smash into someone's car who's been left in the gravel.

Cheers :)

Every time I have been there if a car ends up in the gravel it will be red flagged until it has been recovered.

Hope that helps mate.

I'm 100% going in pro class this time... All the sping outs really done my head in last time. took away most of the session. they normally pull them out lozz x

I only asked cause last time i was there, there was an MX5 stuck in the gravel at devils elbow for most of the session lol and right on the edge.

Cars get recovered now straight away unless they are not in a dangerous postion. Like a break down that has managed to limp on to the Rallyx circuit wouldnt need recovering til the end of the session
