Think I got owned by the Police. Help!

I got a question to do with traffic offences.

I got clocked by a riot van (not even a traffic officer) going through a No Entry Sign. Was just trying to avoid being beached on the REDICULAS speed bumps in Washington.
I know, my own mistake, should have paid more attention for the Bacon Carts looking for something to do.
Got given a fixed penalty and points on my license on the spot.

Cant really make out the handwriting on the slip, I think its either KT74 or ICT74 or ICE74

Thing that is puzzling me, is going through a No Entry Sign really a £60 fine and 3 Penalty Points? Seems a bit harsh to give 3 points for something like that.

And what sort of effect would these points have on my insurance? Im turning 21 in June and will be driving 3 years in September.

3 pts for 2 bald tyres put my insurance up £60 4 yrs ago.
Just depends on your insurance company, some are not bothered for minor offences.

3 pts on the spot? I assume you had your license on you and you showed it to the copper? If so big mistake, NEVER show a copper your license.

Why is that? Will note for the future.

And damm =[ will gona have to call up the insurance like and find out.

Think its time to think about an e30 once im 21 instead of the s13

I know, its my fault really, should have checked better for the pigs.

And im not mate. Im waiting till Im 21 to insure the s13....Luckely my renewal isnt till september.

ive got 3 point and a £60 for going through a wrong way to :/ Rang my insurance up and it didnt increase at all.

Middle of the night, coming out of macdonalds in the middle of know where and it just so happens a traffic cop sees me, bollocks.. :P

That sounds promising. My mate did say it shouldnt effect my insurance much. Just cant help but worry thats all.

Umm still debating about getting rid of the e36 and gettin a 318is e30...cheaper thrills!

Anyone, any idea how much I could get for my "316" with a M52 2.5 lump with M50 conversion?

As you found out, they can put the 3 pts straight on with there computer. If you didn't show them a license, you would then get 2 wks or so to hand license into a police station. Gives you that time to get advice on whether to just take it, or fight it. Also gives the copper more paperwork, so he might be more inclined to issue a warning than pts.

You do realise, that A) you were committing an offence and B) you dont have to be a traffic police officer to enforce the law?

The argument about it being not a traffic officer is totally irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, you were caught by a police officer going through a no entry sign. You've openly admitted to all of us that you did commit the offence.

It is an endorsable offence £60 and will get you 3 points, simple as.

thats not what he is moaning about..

he was asking if it would affect his insurance not slagging the cops off

My bad :o

I was always under the impression that points made your insurance go up? Ive been lucky not to get points so many times, my luck is bound to run out sooner or later....

Nah, its not that "moaning" about getting cought...thats all fair and square.

Just wanted to find out what would happen to my insurance and just thought 3 points AND £60 fine is a bit harsh. Would have thought it would be just a fine.

Thanks for advice John, will no in future.

And yea Subsequent, it was just a little side street.

Would not have went through the sign if the speed bumps werent big enough to beach a f**kin Hummer!

I think we should all just attack speed bumps one day :/
