Thanks for the comments, guys. The engine is a b230a block out of an old 240, with a 16v head off a 740glt(b234). Uprated internals of course with lowered compression, gt3076r turbo, b21 lightened flywheel and tilton 2-plate clutch. Gearbox is off a bmw 525d, and has the same specs as the e36 m3 box but slightly different ratios. All the fab work is done by my friend Magnus at Farmen Performance, and we've had loads of fun with the build so far. It's really starting to take shape now. I don't think we'll ever get remotely close to 1000bhp in this thing, and I don't think we really want to either... We're probably going to end at a reliable 400whp with a decent amount of torque.
And yes, I can see over the vent! To be honest I can't really see the bonnet at all from where I'm sitting. I like it low! I don't know the make of the bonnet, but it's a great piece of fibreglass. Not your regular add-on type vents. I forgot the locks on it once and the hinges broke before the bonnet...
We drove at Gatebil, but don't think we really stood out. I am the one being passed by Aasbø in the world famous overtake video though...
You are invited! I'm sure it will be awesome next year too. I can probably help you find a place to stay and stuff. Or you could just take a cheap flight, hitchhike to the track and find some new friends with an extra bed there!
Thread needs more action pics, Trond! I'll come running over to you lot next year too with some Gatebil inboard/outboard if it's okay for you, don't think I got any of you this year! Looking forward to see more of your ridiculous entry speeds and angles next season
The project is still going strong. We're getting a bit of work done every day. Should be ready for paint over christmas. It's going to stay red, but need a fresh lick of paint inside and out. Thanks to our sponsors at do88.se for providing us with all the pipework and silicone and bakaxel.se for the badass tilton clutch and bmw gearbox.
Here are some pics of the latest progress in no particular order..
Ooops. I forgot all about this thread. We have been working hard on the car since the last update, and finished the paint job on the body this weekend. It's finally starting to look like a car again! The car was in a pretty bad shape from last season and almost every panel was damaged in one way or another, so the guys worked real hard getting it all nice and straight again. If all goes well we will begin assembling the engine in a couple of weeks. We're still missing a few vital parts. Since last time we also fabricated a new front bar and got all the pipes for air and water done. We also made some brackets for the alternator and ps pump.
ndrifter on here was kind enough to provide us with nice set of clips from the last round of 09. I like to think I can do better than this vid shows though.. We had some issues that weekend.. I blame the car...
Got some help from my good friend and team mate Reidar this weekend. We gave the old volvo block and head a nice skim, and rebored the block. Can't wait to get it all painted and assembled!
