Volvo 940 - 1st drift project

personally i would stick with the 2l turbo, drift it till you get bored and then maybe you could do the conversion and start to play about with that for more power, i have a 360 with a b230fk in it but not sure i would call myself a volvo fanatic though lol

I think it's the sensible route. Where abouts are you based?

i built a 740 with a 45i (3.5 turbo) bmw engine... wasnt a big deal after so much work.
this also makes no sense (for me) but interesting, will be back on this, so keep up :)

Where abouts are you based? Do you go to Santa Pod?

Have done one crail day live work outside edinburgh mate .. just bought a clio engine so ned to pay debt's of for that before i do any more drift stuff, dont suppose you know of anyone breaking a 1.7 340 in need of bits for my conversion

Cheers

I understand people's confusion with the engine change but once the 2.0L or the gearbox goes (which ever comes first) I will be changing. As I previously stated to Stavros, it's also about the experience, I haven't done an engine change yet and felt it would improve my mechanical skills no end. My friend is very knowledgeable and has his own workshop so it wouldn't take long to do.

Thanks for all the advice though, this is one of the reasons I joined the forum.

Ah, i saw that. Was that at the SXOC big track day?

Does your 940 have aircon mate? I've got a superchipped ECU sat in my garage for a 2L turbo non-aircon model - tried it on a mates 940 2L turbo with aircon and the aircon fan ran constantly so must be a non-aircon ECU. Don't ask me what the difference is but its got a blue superchips sticker on it... might remove fuel cut or something?

Unfortunately mine does have air-con. What money where you looking for it?

It's been a while since I posted in this thread and thought an update was needed.

The Volvo 940 has come on leaps and bounds since my last post.

The car is now running the following mods.

Welded diff
Slightly larger turbo (16T)
440cc injectors
Rally cam from Sweden
513 head
Custom 3" intake manifold
Larger MAF
Cut springs
Lighten flywheel
Uprated clutch
Hydro
Power steering fluid cooler

Buckets seats and suspension are next after experiencing almost sitting in the passenger seat on nearly every corner due to the rubbish standard seats and very bouncy suspension!

All in all very impressed with the car and learnt a huge amount at Santa Pod today. Looking forward to next time and will post some pics soon.
