whoops forgot to keep this thread up to date

been making good progress!

ive been remaking the entire brake system; i picked up a subaru forester brake master and slave which are bigger than the original t2 stuff so it should hopefully give a better pedal feel. They also only cost £30 odd whereas the t2 stuff is hundreds ://

the original plan was to run all the brake lines behind the firewall to keep it all nice and tucked but i wasnt a fan of how tight everything would be back there. still had to make it clean tho

this scrap piece i had lying around works PERFECTLY for this bracket. didnt cut or shape that wee reservoir bottle bit at all.

the line you see going through the bulkhead goes to the brake bias at my leg in the interior then back out to the rear brakes (still to make that part)

PXL_20210216_183830893.jpg

also picked up Essex Rotary braided lines and some basic discs. im currently taking apart all the calipers to clean and rebuild them but FUCK are they putting up a fight lol

all n all pretty happy with how its come out so far, wouldve been nice to fully tuck the lines but cant complain with how its come out :p

finished off the last of the brake lines today, you can see the line going from the brake bias and back out just behind the seat to the rear T piece

ignore the poo welds on the T piece bracket, had some issues with burning through :(. i actually had to make it twice because i welded the first one upside down lolol

much swearing ensued.

hows it goin biiys, i forgot about this thread again so heres a wee update over the past few months lol. not been up to a great deal, just been saving for the actual engine rebuild and buying more unreliable 2 stroke motorbikes

couple month back i started working at a place rebuilding turbos so thats been a good time! they have a load of mediablasting equipment so i thought id make the most of it :smash:

all good to go ready for paint!

PXL_20210703_141811050.jpg

also got a rear crash bar for free off ghalib / recklesstribe. what a legend

i'll be updating the rest later when i can be bothered so bye for now xo

a few week ago i sent all my engine bits to be checked over and have any work needed to get it ready for rebuild by garagereg !
somehow everything besides the centre iron from the original *SEIZED* engine is reusable!

i got the grooves on one of the rotors cleaned up and toleranced, housings relapped and a fresh STREETPORTED centre iron to replace the old pitted one :euge:

im honestly so chuffed that everything can be reused because not only does it save me thousands, it also means a huge part of the original car is saved which means a lot. i wasnt happy having to reshell it but atleast the engine lives on :)

ayoo hows it going, kinda forgot about this thread once again so i'll update it again over the next few days, not done a HUGE amount to it the past year as lifes been a bit hectic but ive made progress irrelevant :)

heres the long awaited update wooo

back in May i finished up making the whole fuel system for the FC. i was originally wanting to run the entire system out of hardlines but thought i'd save myself the nightmare and just go with AN lines under the car and just use aluminium hardlines on the engine cause it looks siiiick.

its all AN6. running a turbosmart FPR800, 110 deatscwerks fuel filter and a walboro 255 fuel pump :)

changed the fuel routing from in series to parallel. definitely not necessary for the current power i plan to run but its there for whenever i want to run more. tbh i just did it cause it looks sick and why not when i have to redo it all anyway?

jst pretend you dont see the nightmare i was having tryna get the gearbox in myself lol

WhatsApp Image 2022-08-07 at 12.54.06 AM (1).jpeg

i spent way too long tryna make those stupid AN line brackets work n if i was to do it again i'd just use P clips tbh but it came out well n its done now.

honestly super chuffed with how this came out!

ps. ignore the rust appearing on the underside its a bit depressing

ive been working at a turbo rebuilders/ remanufacturers now for over a year so i thought itd be the ideal time to get my turbo rebuilt; for free :worthy:

its been a fun place to work, definitely learned a lot and its satisfying doing this for my own car, nice change from stripping pishy regular car turbos all day lol

WhatsApp Image 2022-08-07 at 12.49.57 AM.jpeg

i ended up mixing the two turbos i had together as the original housing on mine was badly cracked and the other turbo i bought had a bad shaft.

in the off chance someone reading this is trying to rebuild their own FC turbo, the hitachi HT18-s CHRAs are intentical to garrett T3s internally

lookin sweeet

forgot to mention i welded up the wastegate penny, i'll be running an EWG. i'll weld it to either the housing or the manifold but that might be bit trickier

another update from work i did a couple month back :)

i was never really that happy with the way i did the V-mount way back so i decided to revisit it and do it properly.
the gap between the radiator and intercooler was pretty big and the mounts i made to hold the radiator werent that sturdy.

step one : remake the mounts, made them an inch odd higher but same shape

WhatsApp Image 2022-08-07 at 12.54.07 AM (2).jpeg

the brackets here holding the radiator were just for test fitting. you can see i moved the radiator back about an inch too

WhatsApp Image 2022-08-07 at 12.54.08 AM.jpeg

heres the new and improved mounts for the front. waaay better!

and the new craig davies 150 waterpump heeehehee :smokin:

tbh im not overly confident in how the pumps fitted but this is how davies craig recommend running it soooo

heres the swanky swirlpot and the connector to connect the heater matrix

looks SICK

much happier with this :smash:

next step was something ive dreamt of since the start of the build, making the interooler piping :worthy:

this was my first time doing stainless work so it was a wee learning curve but it wasnt as bad i was dreading lol. pretty chuffed with it came out all n all

WhatsApp Image 2022-08-07 at 12.57.35 AM (1).jpeg

played about with TIG settings and cup sizes till i was happy with doing the proper runs. the welds are a bit overcooked but the penetrations spot on

WhatsApp Image 2022-08-07 at 12.57.34 AM (2).jpeg

always been a big deal to me to have the piping running straight instead of weaving and winding around the engine bay cause its really tidies the bay up and looks amazin

WhatsApp Image 2022-08-07 at 12.57.35 AM (3).jpeg

had to buy a bit of a funky 90* elbow from the turbo to the pipe as the turbos 2.25" and the pipings 2.5"

really coming along now, its so nice being at the stage where im installing fun parts and everythings 'clean' and im not having spiders crawling up me and rust falling in my eyes every second.
