Hi , all . I have a story to tell a very distressing story and I am looking for help or at least make everyone aware
I purchased a car form Japwest Mods at the start of December for £9199.99 which involved this in the contract:
involved All importation duties & fees, transport to our store £150 Service with the Oils, filters and spark plugs swapped & get MOT ready £250, UK Road registration inc 1 years MOT will be paid by JapWest Mods LTD £300 and are included in the final price with ML discount.
Initially, I paid £1000 deposit, but he then asked for the full payment. Unfortunately, I was too naïve and accepted to pay the full amount despite this clause in his contract
The total amount outstanding for the vehicle excluding deposit is £9199.99 to be paid upon receipt of the vehicle in full and final settlement for the vehicle.
It was planned to arrive 6-8 weeks later but ended up arriving 6 months later. Nevertheless, I persevered and kept my patient, unfortunately this was not the end of the problems. He that ask for an extra £400 for work to be done to pass MOT which is in violation of said contract clause above

Hi Tan
As per our telephone conversation earlier, re attached is a list of work needed to get the silvia up to UK MOT specification.
With the age and nurture of these cars, it’s extremely common to replace and amend serviceable parts like clutches, braking, pipes, belts etc
In regards to the list below most jobs are covered (paid for) as we spoke about when you purchased the car, with only a few items needed to be done this end. which is common for the age, most used cars will need items replacing every few years.
To do list:
- tyres
- 2 x wheel hubs
- rear arch pocket slightly worn and will need a weld
- exhaust manifold has air leak
- intercooler exchanged
- replace any worn pipes
- replace any cable ties with metal brackets
- full service
- exhaust leak repaired
- re con the battery
- check all fluids and top up if needed
- replace all bulbs
- general tidying of the car if it needs it
Following this , I had a telephone conversation to discuss how this violates the clause as I paid £250 extra for the car to be MOT ready , he disagree and so I asked for a refund on JUN 11th as I was not happy to pay any more money , This follows japwest mods return policy as I have not even taken receipt of the car
Under The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a legal right to cancel the contract between you and us within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason unless the product is a custom order/ bespoke order.
So all in all after lots of lies on subsequent emails this is the last email. He tells me the money is ready and I will get my refund but he could not provide me with a proof of refund . I contact my bank who told me there is no money on the way and there is nothing they can do about it
