Oi Mitto I need a bumper! :p

Having said that if its what I think ive no hope of fixing it :wack:

Curborough looks so nice, never seen it before.

New wheels

In my quest to add some JDM tightness to my car i got some pana sports of ebay for a good price. However when i went to fit them at the test day i found out that the bloody centre bore was too small to fit as they were off a mk3 supra. Luckily Jimbo helped me out

However, no point in selling them on cos although they arent mint i think they look pretty cool. So decided to get them on the milling machine at uni and make them fit :)

To get the wheels centred i made up a small disc with a bit of bar on the end to fit into the machine. This took a while but was much quicker overall compared to lining each one up properly with a clock dial. The wheels centre bore were 59.5 and needed to be 66mm.

Lining up the wheels using tool i made up.

Once the wheel is lined up it just a case of cutting the bore out.

The tool sits offset to the centre of the hole. This can be adjusted in or out and is automatically lowered. I cut at 60mm, 60.5, 61 all the way up to 66. Took a while but now they fit. although i forgot to take a picture :wack:

Just me being pedantic, but you measured to the hundreth of a mil, not thousandths!!

12 microns, sorry......made me giggle :dermal:

Does the manual (i dont do nissans) actually quote 0.015mm?, as 0.01mm is basically a non existent figure in terms of clearance, even 10 thou is 0.254mm.

Checking backlash on the diff. Can just see it was about 12 microns so well within the 0.01-0.015 mm tolerances.

Nothing amazing. +33 offset but they are 8.5 inches wide on the rear which is nice and they weigh bugger all :)

Yes you are being pedantice but then again i just checked my notes and your right :). Dont know where i got the 0 from? Then again i may well have been intoxicated so i blame that lol!

lol.....sorry, i was just thinking....

Fuck, no way......i only sometimes measure to the tenth of a thou......OF AN INCH!!! lol

I can make you a MASSIVE shiney alloy knob for £15, but i dont know how a bimmer nob is attached to the gear lever.

If you tell me how (thread size, something else, ?????) then i could make you one within a few days.

I will even make the top round so it slide in and out easier.

Is that offer open to anyone :D

i enjoyed reading through this thread, im scouring the site for info and tips, hence digging this up ;) its been really good reading up on what you have done, its given me a push into considering a car that may need work doing so I can learn more about the car Im driving rather that densely proclaiming "its a red one that goes sideways" to me mates lol :)

That seems like it was ages ago now. Was good fun, just wish i had more money at the time so it wasnt so bloody stressful getting the thing done :(
