Buy car. Weld diff. Drift car. Fix car. Drift car. Fix car. Drift car.fix car. Thats how it normally goes.

you are a genious! that's exactly how it works!

I'd aim to have a career that can support drifting because theres half a forum better than you at this point. good luck and have fun

Thanks, the biggest point is to have fun! and obviously to make a career out of it would be brilliant! following all the events around and meeting good people, having great fun and trying to qualify myself! :)

If you make a career out of it let me know......so far it's just cost me the majority of my wages every month.....but it's worth it! :)

Dont take this the wrong way but 1st of all you need to be thinking about actually getting a car and then learning to drift, your getting wayy ahead of yourself. Do you realise how much it costs to compete?

To make it quicker 1st things to strip as much weight out as your happy with, you need to control the car before wasting cash on turbo's. Weld the diff, get suspension and lock run high tyre pressures in the rear and have access to shed loads of tyres. Then whatever suits you after that.

Im not sure if this thread is a pisstake or not

exactly what I thought, lol

Dammit, why didnt we all think of becoming pro drifters? After all, all you need to do is buy a car and learn to drift!

1. buy s14.
2. coilovers, welded diff.
3. drift.
4. start changing things as you feel the need, after you already know the basics

I can drive, not on the road though but i am fully aware of driving. and i have a job etc, and i have nothing to spend it on - and if i have fun doing it, i am going to do it because its what i enjoy, and to be honest this is a little bit of a dream, but i can make it happen as i do have the money, i would just like to know in advance what i do so i can get the hang of things and understand it all.

Thanks for the advice, (sorry just found about 'reply with quote', but yea i mean if its fun and you have the money then why not! :)

By the sounds of it you have never got a car sliding? You might hate it and quickly fall out of love with repairing your car every week and driving around in a shitter.

Buy a car and get it to a track, spend a day destroying the thing and just go from there. Don't even begin to think about modifications until you know the car and what you would like to change, and even if you like drifting in the first place.

Thats my tuppence anyway.

I have never slid the car, although i love going to drifting events and have followed them for quite some time now, and i have decided that i'd love to do it.

I have plenty of spare time, and i am inlove with .. 'cars' i suppose, its just my thing :p

I do admit i am getting ahead of myself but i would like a taster on what is to come, and if i was to start adding modifications then at least i would know what to do as this information is now in my head ;).

i have an open airfield quite close to me, so i can just set out some cones and get practicing!

Thanks for your input though! :)

Actually if you have free reign of an airfield then bingo, you're already ahead of 99% of dreamers on here. All you need is a car, some spare wheels, and a friendly tyre garage that lets you ratch in their tyre pile for usable rubber.

I started pissing about on airfields before going to a drift day fo' realz, and it helped massively. Great fun, cost nothing except for fuel, and taught me the basics as well as being able to test out various mods. I wish I still had free reign of that airfield, but I've been chased off a couple of times so have to save it for proper drift days now :(

Hehe, well the airfield is used as a sunday market, and people go in there to test some cars, and iv'e been told that you can ask the owner for permission to go in so its all good unless obviously its getting used. i could ask for like .. permanent entry and if someone else comes along then obviously give them the advantage hehe:)

if you live anywhere near me, then let me know please, I miss "free" drifting and would be happy to give you a hand if I got to use the place too lol
