Drifting in Hampshire

Its probably "positive" tarmac, most roads are "negative". It gives more grip, but is rougher.

Essex arena wet the track for drifting. Arrive, drift all nite, drive home on same tyres. It was great :-)

there's a few of us on the Isle of Wight who would be up for a local Hampshire event so don't mind catching the ferry over!

Ps didn't matchams have a parking lot once used as a drifting area??

Yeh it did, but locals (as usual) complained about noise and it had to stop.
Can't have any fun in this country any-more without some old cunt moaning about it.

they ran 2 drift days there julie was running it.
95% sure it was closed due to noise regs as usual, want very big and the surface was getting ripped up by us and making big pot holes

thats one of the places i learned to drift was the oval
its fine aslong as you dont get too cocky

Ah that's a shame I saw a video a little while back of them running in that area.
I've been looking on google earth around matchams and to the west is what looks like an old ministry test track. Looks like a massive figure of 8.
Kinda reminds me of a top speed test track on gran turismo!
I also assume the go kart track is out of the picture with regards to drifting?!

I was thinking of contacting thruxton race circuit to setup a regular drift night, hoping the addition of their new skid pan would be idea, then they post this

hopefully they have a nice car park we could use instead, if you would be interested in somewhere a bit more local let me know, it would be great to show them a lot of interest :)

No chance unfortunately, the local village will be a big issue

I have contacted them regardless, I see your point on noise if it is in the evening but we shall see, their paddock area is huge!

As above, Matchams is pretty much it.

Otherwise, pod or lydden are closest I think.

I'm in Chandler's Ford (between Southampton and Winchester) and the trips aren't too bad. Leave early and get back mid-evening. 2-3 hours each way. Worth it when you're there :D

im the same as the guys as above live pretty locally but other than matchams, closest is pod and lydden :) ,the used to do a thing on thorney island a few years back but that got put on the stoppers pretty quick, would love to have a new place to drift down south.

I'm from southampton and went to matchams the Wednesday just gone

It's not to bad on the track they set up at the top. It's a bit bumpy on the far corner but still

My mate who was learning seemed to get on quite well

They only have one date left though then they are stopping until September because of a council agreement I believe
