Drifting in Hampshire

i would love to give it a bash (excuse the pun :wack:)

but,,,,,

i finish work at 5.

get home about 6

wont get there till 7-7.30 ish

meh i would rather save the fuel personally to a full day down pod

Excuses...cant beat some cheap skidding! You could scratch down the back of your sofa for money for these nights!

Take yer shit with you to work. You have no excuse, I gotta drive 1 hour 30 mins to get to it

i may have to get a car on the road for this.. i HIGHLY doubt new car will be ready for end of november tho. :(

Got someone from the ae86 forum who is interested in this too.

Are we going to get a list going or is it still in the 'planning' stage?

Nah your right dude, but it's not confirmed yet so details when it is...
let me know dude when you have got details as my plan is currently floored :(

from the other thread to save ink:

Paul- this is the company i have been in talks with

they had to pull the plug on that friday due to lack of numbers............

i said i can get the numbers..... easy....

but you need to work with use for what we would expect from the day.....

this is where they aint playing ball

they dont wanna come away from there :euge: "driver experiance day" which consists of:

Your instructor, Andrew Walsh, will ensure the day is bespoke to your needs, using exercises that lend themselves to a variety of techniques. For example, on the high speed bend you may experience understeer and oversteer and learn how to correct them, improve your steering, learn balanced and trailing throttle, left foot braking, heel and toe and even how to control the rotation of your car and get it back inline from 90 degrees! We use a circuit around soft cones in the afternoon to put your new techniques into practise and learn even more.

we just want the track bit all day :smash:

:smokin:

I see! If they want the money and the track to be in use they'll have to give in, surely?

exactly what im hoping for....

im currently trying the old "money talks "

but- as i see it... they will be getting all there normal $$$ for a day... but dont need to do any training etc...

so i cant see why its not a WIN for them...

maybe the usual insurance stuff thou :(

still waiting on them to get back to me

Clive i recon the best thing to do is go by their conditions for the first one, then when they can see what we can do, how organised we are and the numbers we can bring etc, then you'll be in a better position to negotiate from there ;).

but i personally aint gonna pay £70 (as said 20 people @ 70quid a head...) out for what he wants to do :smash:

anyway- Jack kinda sumed it up:

so basicaly to summarise some fucking robbie heeeead type hero normaly gets paid for teaching people to do a tiny skid on a couple of corners for the day, and isnt happy with us just paying the dollar and doing some skids. probably because well show him up!

he aint really gonna have much to teach us is he lol, just go to the normal day and when he says 'see if you can get it a bit sideways through this corner' just skid the whole track and say 'is that sideways enough for you' ? :D

ill let someone else take the honour Rob...

as ill only just spin out :D

:dw:

Clive, if you do manage to pull this drift day off...fingers crossed...I spoke to a mate today up at Micheldever Tyres who would be willing to help out with a mobile trye changing facility, same sort of price as whats already been mentioned- £5/tyre and should be able to provide some part worns as well.

I'm also in hants in Winchester and looking to start also meet with a few other drifters as I'm new to the sport(lifestyle) and wouldn't say no to some pointers or tips plus car advice. I'm wondering where the closest place for small events are and also where do people practice? Any help would be very helpful

There's no where in Hampshire, or even anywhere close to Hampshire, that offers a regular, legal, place to drift.

Hilarious to watch though. Its not a good night at Matchams unless you get hit by a piece of crashing Sierra.

I reckon the public just think we hooligans and that's why it's so hard for us? If we could get hold of a parking lot somewhere and got people to come watch get into it just like you have a open area small gymkhana and then spin till they pop(tyres) more places will open to that. Raise funds get sponsors and open a community drifting track and maybe even drifting school. I guess it's a long shot

/\ thats a good idea, but only petrol heads would come. Its the stuffy middle age upper classes eg the local mayor that would need convincing. BUT then the noise is always going to be an issue. Its not uncommon for drift noise to travel 6-8 miles. Ive heard of 17 miles!!!!!! With the wind behind it. And anytime the public can attend will probably be a weekend when the carpark is needed most and the locals are at home to complain.........

I for one would love a decent practice track in hampshire, lydden hill is awsum but £100 of diesel in the van to get there which could be saved if a local track was available....
