Drifting in Hampshire

Sounds like a great idea. I think setting two dates with less people would be better.
I would rather pay more for decent track time

same as myself....

but- for now only planning on one day....

introduce this "track day" organisation to drifting, will be something to work from (for them included...), see how it goes, what worked, what didnt, bla bla bla

Did you want to start another thread to get some numbers?

Limited to DW? I know a handful of people who would be up for this.

no limit dude

more the better

just need a RWD car :smash:

will start a new thread ONLY when all is confirmed...

i feel i can EASILY.. get 25 people... its just:

what do people want?

what numbers do we feel this should be limited to...?

Personally, I would rather pay £10 or £20 more amd garuantee numbers are kept lower, ensuring more seat time.

I also think you should say to them that will obey the one car on track rule until they are happy and confident, because Im sure they will change their mind once they have seen us run a day about changing that, but you have to make it aware to them that all practice days run this format, just because people arent gonna queue for an hour or half hour at a time for just one run, it just doesnt add !

I also feel once they see a run day that they might understand a bit more that we can all generally run in 2/3's and be ok without any incidents.

but I would also say that all drivers will be signing forms that any loss or injury is purely down to themselves so that they can feel relaxed in the thought that there would never be a law suit against them ;)

I could talk to Semtex about helping out with the marshelling, as they want experience, and he's a good lad, Im sure he can rope in another with experience too.

I could also speak with Mint Tyres about tyre changing, see what his fee's are ;)

cheers ash.

yeah, just speaking with a few mates... seems 20cars will be best... gives the organisers a good example of a drift day, but not too much for them to take on at once....

its a starting point like you say, we just need to work with them.

i feel we could easily get 20 people @ £70 a head now from speaking to just mates on fb.

spoke to George (from mint...) as well.... not sure if it will be worth there while...

i do have a few other contacts thou.

semtex- awesome shout.... awesome bloke, was a awesome day when he marshalled modified madness drift weekend.

i'd be up for this, any chance to get seat time at a local venue,

good on you clive for trying to sort this! keep me posted and i'll be there!

yes a local one! im up for this as its about time i got out on track!

 Ryan- its about time you bloody got in your car and drove to an advent instead of  that there's no where to skid

:smash:

:D

well... been doing most of it during "work" so no stress for me.

------------------------------------------------

right- gonna go to meet the organisers some time during the week in person to propose:

20 cars/drivers @ £70 a head.

will push for a weekend date... but cant promise, sorry guys.

will aim for end of November.

will also get onto some contacts for mobile tyres.

Have been informed of a few people that are msa approved that will be willing to help out

Not the new hachi bro, but hell, what better car would you choose to do a 5th gear super backwards manji wallscrape mctwist in lol ?

Have you heard, I finally have a working car, that isnt destroying itself ;)

yo man! i did here this, how is it? coming for some skids soon, we're doing pod on the 23rd:nod:

i'm definitely in for this, £70 is fine, and the track layout at modified madness this year was really good imo. would probably work out better if we had the start point the same, left right left with the option of going 3rd gear straight to the wall instead of the twisty bit, but then instead of the roundabout and looping back carry on along that stretch of runway with a left right and sweeping left to a separate bit to cruise back off track to the queue again. so when the first car gets halfway the next car can go, no doubling back on track, and misses the massive pothole on the roundabout bit

as said on the phone i'll have a word with the msa marshalls i know and let you know clivester

Planning too, need to before then, sort the PAS issue, figure out where Im leaking oil, sort something out for the over heating issue I now have, was running no bonnet all weekend :D Sort out shocks......

And then get the Dark Destroyer running for some serious play pen action ;)

Clive you absolute legend, nice one!!

Im obviously completely up for this. Reading through the last page or so I was thinking of exactly the same setup Al has just mentioned.

Basically a sprint type layout with a finish gate a couple of hundred meters past what was the "roundabout" @ MM. Then just a turn off at the end and a chill cruise down to the pit area again down the long side road. With that fairly long run back it will help to keep the queues down aswell because the cars wont be stacking up as much due to the transit back. Because when we finished the layout at MM we instantly went to the back of the queue, effectively if we do a sprint type layout it would be a long, staggered, chain drift if you know what i mean?? Also a cruise back to let the cars cool down aswell :).

Tyres - plenty of places to ring around locally, mint tyres would be awesome but we're a bit out of their way arent we?

Track - So theyre supplying cones? What about haybails? Also, we probably need to get the place swept again, im up for going down there with a broom for a day lol.

Im happy paying £70. Its a safe bet to say 20 cars only, not because of track time, but its obviously going to be easier to get 20 cars regularly than it is 30 cars. And as you say the people holding the event want to be insured a consistant amount of people attending..

How many of us are there in the pompey+chi area alone? I can count at least 10 from pompey and soton alone who'd be up for it. Then theres probably the same amount of you guys from Chi and Al from Brighton area right? Only trouble I can see is the weekday thing and the end of the month when people might be waiting for payday.. But im sure people are old enough to know how to save coin for a drift day!

But yeah, im well up for this, and anything you need at all, any help just give me a shout mate id love this to happen.

have a feeling we could be limited to space due to the MOD...

but will ofcourse mention it

 cant see it a problem with a tyre van- but will need to get prices

 they will provide cones :smokin:

i would LIKE to think the organisers all ready have something in place of sweeping it, but will mention it

i can think of at least 20 people on my mobile that will be up for this

im planning it for 2 months time so people can get holiday and save

but.... if all goes to plan, i will need the money be for the end of october

please remember, i am currently looking at paying the £1400+ out of my own pocket  to sercure the possiblity of a place for use to skid down south

But yeah, im well up for this, and anything you need at all, any help just give me a shout mate id love this to happen.

glad your willing to help out along with so many others.

yeah i wont be drifting but if i can help in any other way im up for it, i may be able to help with a tyre man, i'll make a phone call and see what he says  obviously wont be almost free like MM so would everyone be happy with the usual £5 a tyre ????

EDIT: just spoken to the tyre man and he said its something he could definately be interested in, friday is one of his busiest days but he can most likely sort something, he said to give him a call back when its all set in stone with the date etc.
