Matchams is good, but...

Just don't take anything nice on there :smash:

Damn Paul !!!!!!

yeah bollox to taking anything decent to matchams, no forgiveness there if you fuck up, which is what you tend to do quite often whilst drifting

odiham do trackdays but not drift days
theres a company that uses it for a grip day but its not very well advertised
also experiance days now and again there in posh cars

we tryed in 2007 to get it opened up for drifting using a legit company but they wernt interested

used to be a couple of drift days in aldershot too
(in the army training grounds by fleet)
but that got closed due to the track being sold
it was a oval shaped carpark with armco round the edges and lots of diffrent layouts with cones.

Yeh they are called RMA Track Days, Company i work for is slightly involved with them. Been to afew of they're days with acouple TVRs, Was topping out at 168mph on the straight lol

is his red? I'l bring my 86 :)

No it's white and black, but he's spraying the white bits black.
He saw you outside Elphicks in Farnham the day after he picked his up.
It's Sids old one with the retard spec rear arches that have now thankfully been killed to death.
Should look awesome in the next couple of days.

Right guys, for a few weeks now i have been in talks with a company about a drift day up Thorney.

They currently hold "grip" training days... and are currently having to pull the plug on days due to lack of numbers (coming up winter seems to be the main reason....)

now- i have asked how much it would to... to hold a drift only day up there, they spoke of some figures, and possible ideas...

Now, the idea's....

1) need to mention due to health and safety bla bla bla it only will be, and will only ever be one out on track at a time :-(

2) track layouts...
a) a "play pen" simlar to pod... square area, few cones etc...
b) a track.... now, was thinking of doing a simular track to what it was when Modified Madness held an advent there (ill post a video when home....) reason why- because it worked

now- for this to work.... i will need:

a) 30 people @£50 a head..... need money up front...
b) happy for it to be held on a skool day (looking to be a Friday... maybe the 26/11/10)
c) need to proved are own tyre van
d) to keep cost's down- we will need to proved two marshall's (they can be proved @ an extra £150 EACH!) must have previous experiance- prefered to be MSA Approved?

i feel it will be worth, im happy to take my time, and some of my own money to get a venue down South

happy to listen to overs ideas and opinions....

or to hear from anyone that would be happy to help me out in making sure this happens.

many thanks guys,

Clive

cheers clive, wont 30cars be a long wait with 1 on track per time or can they run a timed gap to keep the cue moving?
any idea how much a tyre man would cost ?

I did modified madness this year and the queue was getting absolutely ridiculous with the once up and back method before anyone else could get on the track, they started sending the cars off in pairs just to reduce the queue and get people some more seat time because it was beginning to suck, definitely a looped circuit would be better so that you can run cars with a timed gap. for this they would have to enter and exit the circuit at a different point obviously....

Semtex ran the last one, speak to him about how it might be improved...

this is what concerns me Si about the one only out on track...
2minutes "run time" a person...
thats one go every hour :wack: :(

but...
need to consider ~10 people will not want to progress from the "play pen"... certainly in the morning....

obviously... there is another way..............

£60 a head @ 25 cars

£70ish (getting strong now....) @ 20 cars.

for "me"/we/use... its a set fee to hire the day....

they will provide the cones

no helmets required (in there words: there will be nothing to crash into :) )

oh and tyre van.... will need to ring around to get some ideas....

if its run the same as the vid in the events section you dont want 2 cars half way round as it looks like there could be issues with a returning car and a leaving car on the dsame corner, even if hay bails are between them

ill come along to one and if it is bad ill try and help out for a while.
i guess it might be one of those tracks where they need to get used to us before they start letting twinning or trains out on track, unless its a insurance thing

would they let us do trains or 3 car attacks with helmets and a signature stating any damage or injuries are nothing to do with the track but soley the people running the event?

they was bloody firm on the one only out on track at a time rule

but- i can always ask what you have just mentioned

ill ask about possibility for a looped track- so as someone mentioned... one person goes as the other is half way around (butttt will be restricted by width:

thorney island - Google Maps

Sounds like a great idea. I think setting two dates with less people would be better.
I would rather pay more for decent track time
