Now that is a good call

If we were to do it, they wouldn't be the same design as the URAS ones. We're hearing reports from Japan of those ones either coming loose or snapping, but we have something else up our sleeves ;)

awesome im so on board with this, any eta yet for first batch need to make sure i have the money ready and waiting

The people that were making those stopped making them didn't they ?? I read on the internet as i looked into them when they came up before on there and they cause problems with the rack as they twist the internals of the steering rack, and wear the rack out very quickly.

I don't know how much truth is in it, but it kinda makes sense if you think of the angle that the rods on a stockish set up (without the super cool DW knuckles) is a really agressive angle.. instead of just pushing up and down on the rack as it will put a twisting force on it.. and anyone will know if you twist the rack with a spanner when undoing the ends and don't hold the rack part it pushes away from the pinion and the rack then makes nasty clunky noises.

I've been trying to find the wright up on these but i know its in japanese so its not that easy to search on.

could be cool if you can raise the mounting point too, as it would help bump steer no end :D would be really easy to solve the coming undone issue tho, as there is a slot in the rack, so just make it so its got the slot shape extruding out into the the slot and put a nut in the center so then there is no force on the nut to come undone :)

:D

I was gonna make some of the offset jobbies, I decided against it because I didn't want to add more bump steer by messing with the width of the rack. Also I think the cost diference between offset adaptors and doing it the proper way (decent strong, longer track rods and moving the rack forward) isn't enough to warrant doing them.

The driftworks hubs will solve the bumpsteer probs anyways.

TBF the driftworks hubs are such a good design you almost don't need to move the steering rack fowards, i'm sure there would be a point were it may be needed but for 99% of people they wouldn't run into that problem :)

And yes shorting the arms is a bad move, if anything you want to cut the rack in half :D be mint.

I can believe that for sure, the powered by maxguys reckon they can achieve 55* of lock without moving the rack. How they do it without overcentre I don't know??

How does the dw hubs feel when on full lock, does it go heavy?

You have to remember these hubs can give more lock then most people can actually use.. you need alot of power to sit on full lock, its more of a saftey zone for people :)

I use the driftworks hubs and have the rack in the stock position, and i have alot of lock:nod::smokin:
it does go just over centre but doesnt tighten up like with stock hubs:thumbs:

Phil, any ideas of even a rough ballpark figure regarding price so I can put my kidney/lung/limb up for sale first?

That sounds good  I already moved my rack so happy days for me :)

I hope I'll be able to get the cash together for these buut iam gonna wait until versoin two arrives with the handbrake cable revision.

Yes mate I do understand that :)

I found that having some extra lock over standard helped me a lot with my first practice day. Although I did notice I was hitting the stops alot , which tells me that I wasn't in full control of my transitions.

Iam hoping that the mods I have done now will help me even more (quicker steering etc).

Cheers dude

Has the KPI/SAI benn altered on these hubs? Its something iam looking into at the moment!!

Obviously less KPI will stop the leading wheel tipping so much on lock but not sure on the other affects to the handling/steering feel.

Cheers

The handbrake cable system is now integrated into batch one. So you can use them on S13's and Skylines.

Proper bo!!

I wish these came out a year ago before I had to take a pay cut, lol.

Thanks for the answers Mr Phill
