lol. thats different and u know it.

besides, gonna need about 2 more digits infront of the decimal to get close to panel space on the car. :)

dan, you mean at JDM? im only watching car wont be back.. if u mean BDC ya ill be there bending sterring arms again like 08 :D

weeeeeeeellll....

Its been quite some time since i updated this thread, but that doesn't mean nothing has been happening.

As you all know the car was dropped off at hayward Rotary two weeks ago... well in the first week of the car being there, not much happened due to their schedule and the fact that I had not got any parts to them yet..

but that didnt stop them getting most of the engine bay emptied.

Then the following tuesday Matt (z-drifting on here) drove from france on what only can be described as a 'colossal drifting expedition'.. stopping in bristol, birmingham, manchester then BACK down to haywards to drop parts i had bought.. staying at my house overnight (london).. before going BACK up to birmingham and then i lost track of him! :wack:

I ended up the a big pile o goodies.. a few pics:

FD engine, T04R turbo /HKS external wastegate/downpipe+screamer/manifold, 1650 injectors, Power FC, sard FPR and a few more bits and bobs.

I R Happy!! :D:D:D but i r skintededed :(

so then left the bits with Carls team.. the following weekend was the JDM Allstars weekender so I couldnt go to the car.

During the week.. i went to Nickson Motorsport and picked up a new bodykit.; a 2nd hand BN sports kit. I wasn't sure if i was going to use it but Nick agreed to let me take it to the car and offer it up and see what i thought..

we also thought we would try fitting it to my other jap car:

Fair savage lad!! :wack::wack::wack::wack::D:D:D:p:p

..so that brings us to this weekend.

So i had a ton of things to do to the car and the only day to do it was saturday. I turned up bright and early and once we had rolled the car outside so i could begin working on it.

this is how it stood:
P1010576.jpg

I had a pile of new kit bits to try out thanks to EPRacing and Nickson Motorsport :worthy: and FINALLY fit my Spindles straight from Justin pawlak (JTPdrift.com):

Off came the original kit:

and I took a comparison shot of the nose...
GP Sports vs BN sports (non-blister)

then we rolled the car onto the ramps so I could get cracking..

I then saw this sexy beast:

My fully bridgeported, detailed and painted new engine!:smokin::smokin::cool::cool:
Oh and a ROFL shot of Jeff and Mike.. perfect comedy timing:
P1010578.jpg

They continued to build up the engine throughout the day.. and I masked up the car in a hap hazard way ready for me to give the engine bay a reaaaallly crappy bit of paint to get rid of alot of the red..
P1010581.jpg

note the awesome use of Page 3!! :D:D:D:wack:
I only have a halfway shot:

Im pretty sure i got most of the red.. but that photo shows otherwise!:smash: oh well!

checked back on the engine:

clutch and watsegate/manifold and a bunch of ancillaries on.:smokin:

then I fitted theeeesssee the first of these bad boys:

It seems in the HISTORY of this car.. the front brakes had never been replaced, the inner side of the disc is totally dead.. as in 5mm thin.. and the WHOLE disc was welded to the hub..

resulting in the whole hub having to come off in order to fit spindles..

we tried to press them off as well as the ol' bashing stick but nothing was making it budge.. after even more pressure we actually managed to Break the disc.. yes break it... :wack: THEN while doing the other side.. the exact same happened!

so I now have to get new front discs AND new/2nd hand front hubs asap as the car is essentially STUCK on Carls ramp.. :wack::smash::smash::smash::(

anyway fitted the other one.. onwards:

SO with the spindles on, the next jobwas to fit the new D-max front wings from EPRacing (oooh I love my D-max.. remember yoshi? :smokin: )

And well what can i say... the fit was AWESOME..!

After that i got a basic idea of my lock.. but hard to say with no hub/wheel on.. and also you get a bit more under pressure + holding wheel etc.. but still badical in my eyes:
P1010595.jpg

and thats about it for now..
- There was more work on the engine but i didnt get a photo..
- ran out of time to re-cut rear arches for more clearance/better fitment but im hoping to get that done before round 2.
- refitted some of the GP sports kit as due to time (and money) getting it tidied up/painted in time would prove taxing.. and the rear overs were same size so no gain there.

all in all though a good weekend. Going back on friday evening (fingers, toes and other extremities crossed) to finish off rebuilding her and get it DRIVING! plan to drive it to Japfest and then do some seeeeeeeerrrious milage over the following week running it in

that is all.

I needed wider front wings to compensate for the steering mods.

the new spindles mean i hit inner arches badly, so need spacers... and with the spacers on teh front wheels stick out badly.. hense the wider front arches.

so with the much wider aggressive stance I wanted a more agressive kit to match.. but after offering them all up the difference wasnt enough to justify the costs. At least at this stage anway.

who know what EP Racing will want me to promote in the future. ;)

Ha ha! Fair play man. It's looking like a serious bit of kit now either way.

I want to and have started to see how i can get it there.. I pm'd Karl a few days ago about my eligability to drive etc.. if i get the nod ill then start to investigate fully how to get it there..

otherwise ill be there as a supporter pit bitch to some of the uk lads making the trip.

It'd be 5 and bit hours from Surrey to Holyhead or four and a half to Fishguard. Then on our side, Punchestown is maybe 40-45 minutes from Dublin (Holyhead) and about 2 hours from Rosslare (Fishguard) to Punchestown.

Your definitely better off sailing from Holyhead and doing the majority of the driving on the good UK roads ...

agreed. feck the roads from Rosslare, not knowing the way and our sign postage would be a bollox!

well either way ill be traveling in convoy with the japspeed boys, whether if its in the fc or not. so will check with them which way they are going.

although I think i may try to hire someone to tow the FC for the weekend lol. be cheaper to pay someone all their costs than it would to drive the FC there and someone would get a free trip to punchestown PD.

gotta be someone out there.

i get my fc in the next week or two from pete barbers bro and i must say your car is an insparation :worthy::worthy::worthy:

whats so different about the new front spindles ?

lol sweet. FC's popping up all over the place nowadays!

the new spindles have a re-located steering arm point. By moving the join closer to the pivot point, you gain more rotation for the same amount of movement.

The drawback is you get much quicker/snappier steering. so although it IS possible to get absolutely insane lock.. it would become almost undrivable. Its finding the balance. :)

Hi,
I have a set of front hubs complete with bearings and extended studs. Let me know if you still need them.

Cheers,
John
