I appologise in advance for touching myself whilst touching your car at Japshow... That's if your attending? Either way your car has single handedly made me want an FC! Amazing!!!!

I hope your not leaving that plate etc you used to help quiet it down on are you mate?
As shit like that will be shite for performance.
If you want it quieter, add silencers, they do as they are named and no flow loss, unlike restrictors and bungs, which also do as they say...

@Stav : it was a temporary 2am fix type solution so we could get the car to JapFest and I could run the car in. We are well aware of the restrictions it created.. and as such is now longer on the car as I have a new system on it now courtesy of Hayward rotary, my old Apex s14 kit and in fact my original FC zaust..

yeeaaah booi, twin exit bridge ported goodness... and 'hopefully' not too loud. Full update of todays fun later on or tomorrow mornign before I leave. :smokin:

but for now.. know its quieter, but just as angry. Oh and its mapped and has had a few more tweaks.

trumpets.
Bring them on.

Hi Stavros,
Just to let you know that the bung/plate work was only temporary to get the car to Japfest,it is now much quieter, but it should be made known that a rotary is nowhere near as easy as a piston engine to get quiet with power, we have developed some systems over many years that really do work and can get onto just about any track with stringent noise limits in the UK.
Regards
Carl

I dont actually know when it is.. lol but once i get some details if im not busy im sure i will be there in some form. static on a stand or driving if poss.

UPDATE:
I havent got much time as i have a few errands to run this morning but wanted to get these pics up before I left..

So will keep words to a minimum as pics are pretty self explanitory,..
The loud bastard exhaust created from my S14 apex one removed..

The original exhaust from the the FC when i bought it:

Twin exit using the bumper as intended... :smokin:

while this was going on I destroyed yet MORE of the rear arch. No proper job just a 'give me clearance fast dammit!' style job:
P1010057.jpg

P1010060.jpg

Ian/mike also fitted a switch for the twin fans so I didnt need to pull the cut-off key each time, but kept the main feed. Its Green too! :D
P1010061.jpg

Then a few tweaks in the pipework, a few bits of tidying up and then it went out for mapping :D:D:D:D

The result is far beyond what i had expected. The power is jsut constant.. right from as low down as 2.5rpm right up to 8k.. Ive yet to give it a proper thrashing as im fully loaded up for wales and on regular v-power at the moment.. but will be premixing for the abuse over the weekend.

The sound it makes now with the new exhaust is awesome.. a much deeper (quiter) tone while its brap brap-ing away on idle abd when on load... you know its on load.. especially when the screamer kicks in! My god..

Cant thank all the guys at HAYWARD ROTARIES enough! :worthy: ANYONE with an rx7/mx5 or any mazda give them a call. Serious top chaps. And big supporters of the drift scene. :smokin:

..to build such a weapon in such a small amount of time is amazing. The work will continue both on my end and theirs as we progess the car but right now, its gonna be a fun weekend.

Left to do:
- Lock mods.. I am hitting pretty much every point of the inner arches and on the LCA too so some serious head scratching will be occuring to sort that one. Unfortunately I couldnt get it done for wales and i fear this will seeeriously cause me issues due to the 'mental angle entry' they want. :(
Still.. will do what i can with what i have and just go for it.

- Gauges. I need a tacho, oil press/temp, water temp and boost. FAST I have the revs/boost on the power fc commander but its really hard to read at times, especially when gunning it.

- rear camber adjuster.
- top secret funky exterior styling.
- drop front
- get a passenger side front indicator so i can get rid of the gay masking tape
- sort the interior properly.
- A new livery for the exterior

as u can see.. alot more to come yet :smokin:

you, sir, are very lucky to have a car that cool!
keep it up!
(ps a friend of mine came over, when i showed him this page, he asked me: is that a ferrari?(tw@t))
greets from belgium

litte play

sorry for posting twice in a row guys, but i made something to show you guys(and gal's?)
flikstrrsFCblank-1.png

what do you think ?

haha! thats quality! SVTuner. Bad-Ass :smokin:

Well Im busy woring away on the car now after a mixed weekend. Lots to sort for round 3 HOWEVER.. the cars power/responsiveness is FOOOOOOOOOKKKKIINNNNNNNN awesome!..

I managed top 16 but no further (13th i think i was). Which out of 29 semi-pros and in a new car totally.. is not THAT bad.. but i wanted more. Im going to keep pushing myself, the car and its setup till im happy. Which i never am. :p

Was so much smoother and reponsive than i imagined lol. Cannot fault it so far.. I need more seat time to really get to grips with it.. but for the time i had during practice and my qualifying.. I had no complaints.

Just need to sort some supporting issues.. like my lock, alignment and few other minor things. With more seat time and those issues resolved this FC will be a proper weapon.

I just need to reaeallly learn how to handle her.

Pics from the weekend and from todays tinkering will be up later tonight or tomorrow.

was funny watching this bouncing around on idle in the start line at llandow

seriously nice car mate, and built in such a short time! well done!

but... needs to be louder :)

HaHa!
I just spent money making it quieter so i could get onto most/all tracks. Theres more to be done and in fact I've done some more today.

As for the rocking... yeah it is pretty violent. I spoke to Paul@Japspeed about some bracing but im going to have to seriously look at proper bracing as I've heard stories of destroyed diffs. :wack:

[SWEEPS MODE] 'Clearance' is the word of the day. Thats 'Clearance' I want to see massive Clearance. The more clearance the better[/SWEEPS MODE]

Hi Phil,

The problem with bracing the diff is a FD problem. On the FC the Diff casing is secured to the chassis. All that is needed is harder mounts. Onthe other hand, the FD 's diff is secured to a diff carrier that is then bolted to the power plant frame and the chassis. This system allows torque flex, and to stop the diff casing from cracking a brace is needed.
Hope that clears up that one.

Cheers,
John

Update:

Ok well BDC round 2 happened... and I found out two things:

First thing I learnt...

BankHolMonday044.jpg

img5626s.jpg

ENGINE WORKS!!
:D:D:worthy::worthy::smokin::smokin:

The second thing I learnt...

IMG_1782.jpg

IMG_1883.jpg

IMG_3408.jpg

The Lock Does NOT
:(:wack::wack::(
Thats not to say I dont have any lock.. effectively right now.. I have too much. :wack:

Now obviously 60% of that can be down to me learning the car and its new setup so im not concerned with my final BDC postion.. however.. MOST of the time when i got the car onto lock I either:

A. Couldn't get the lock back and it was stuck. causing a spin or loss of direction/speed resulting in stopping or straightening
B. felt the resistance where it was rubbing so much that the front of the car 'dragged' behind.. again causing a spin or a general weak angle fail...

So after a nice relaxed cruise home from BDC on sunday and the afternoon spend chilling watching the F1 replay.. I got stuck in to solving the lock issues on monday...

SO..

wheels off to asses where its rubbing... and ... well its pretty easy to see..

Driver side:
P1010070.jpg

P1010071.jpg

Passenger side:
P1010072.jpg

P1010073.jpg

you can clearly see its hitting.. er everywhere!:wack:

damage to rims:
P1010075.jpg

Begin to solve:
So first thing I did was space the wheels out.. I had tried to use a 25mm spacer to begin with but as mentioned earler in the thread the studs were too long. Soooooo, as it was a nice day i got a hacksaw and some elbow grease and removed the issue.. litterally! :wack:

P1010076.jpg

P1010077.jpg

OK, so now I have 35mm in total of spacing on an ET17. this means ET-18 overall. Not exaclt e as pimp as negative offset rims BUT :smokin: none the less. so Aha! CLEARANCE AT LAST I THOUGHT.

No.

But the Lock at that stage:
P1010078.jpg

 getting there.

So I did a few test 'turns' and now as the 'arc of travel' had widened and the pivot point remained the same.. it now meant I has hitting in other places....

..out came the trusty grinder again:
P1010080.jpg

P1010083.jpg

Windscreen washer bottle removed:
P1010084.jpg

Yet more grinding, this time the sideskirts:
P1010085.jpg

Then it started to rain...

*blurry-lock-shot-o-vision*
P1010086.jpg

and left-hand lock shot:
P1010087.jpg

Finally.. a few fitment shots:
P1010088.jpg

P1010089.jpg

So im haaalf way there.. (NO BON JOVI PLEASE) and rain stopped play...

Still to do for lock..

- bash the living shit outa the inner arches as well as figure out how to bend chassis rails. :wack:
- Get hold of some new 8j or 8.5j ultralite rims for front clearance.
- sell 235/40/17 R888's in favour of smaller tyres.. again for clearance.
- Grind down the LCA's (tried and tested by some well known yanks.)
- Dial in more camber. Not easy as HSD's maxed.. looking to Oval tops now.
- Dial in more caster to move wheels away from wings.. I feel under load wheels will destroy aero's yo!
