Full Circuit Drifting @ Lydden Hill Kent 15th Oct

i hear u pal, it used to be min of 12 but its now 20 i can see what i can do but i wouldn't hold ur breath on the numbers changing,
Best hope is to tell everyone u know about this day n try create some interest, i think the feeling is it is too expensive, but i've not had much feedback about it

Spoken to Lydden gotta call back friday afternoon as need to speak to circuit boss, Reducing the numbers would free track space up but at the expense of lossing the tyre guy, as it not worth him coming up for less than 20 cars, i'll see what lydden say on friday n if we can drop the min numbers i'll arrange for the tyre guy to come up at lunch time but this will mean everyone needs to bring enough tyres on rims to last the AM

Epic track, alongside Mallory one of the best places I've ever drifted BUT last year I managed to organise an impromptu drift session during the BHP show and we had 20 drivers out for that. It was a fairly mixed group from BDC pro license holders right down to guys doing their 3rd day drifting and first time away from Pod. That track feels VERY small with that many people on it in my opinion, especially if some of them aren't very good. Add into that the time it takes to clear someone out of them gravel and the way it eats into you session and then, in all seriousness, it does take a bit of a leap to see any worth in it at that price. The issue then becomes whether to enforce a minimum skill level to reduce the risk of losing track time but also reducing an already small customer base, or to keep it more open so it's more likely to run once but a lot less likely to see drivers wanting to come back due to having an average at best experience.

i cant enfroce a min skill level as i would only have ur word that u been to multiple days,
I'm in no way a 'pro' but theres nothing to stop me pulling to one side on the straight and letting the quicker cars through so i'm not in the way and i'd expect other to do the same (all will be sorted @ the drivers briefing),

@ the BHP show u used the comp track which does shorten the track but when u take into account the hill n north bend there is plenty of space to spread 20 cars evenly, esp when u consider a half the people will be twinning, i done a lot of grip days at lydden with more than 20 cars on the circuit and had no problems with overtaking and it didnt feel like too many on the circuit either, Theres not a great deal i can do about gravel recovery time, i have been in it myself and was out n back in the pit in less than 5 mins and the session was restarted, if someone was to enter the gravel towards the end of the session it would be red flagged but theres not gonna be a car in there in every session, plus theres only 1 gravel pit to hit anyway:thumbs:

That was this year they used the comp track, this was last year I'm talking about, was the whole circuit. I'm not going to get drawn on this one, it's not a slagging match, I'm merely saying that it felt crowded on track with 20 cars and I was quite surprised by it. That's it.

ah my mistake mate, didnt go to it that time then.

20 cars for they day maybe, but i can garantee you now knowing this track you will not get all 20 cars out on the track at one time, most will be in the pits changing tyres after 4 laps or missing a session due to something mechanical:nod:

Its an awesome track and we just need to get ppl down to check it out

Well said Matt. Wish people would quit with the negatives and focus on positives and make this happen

I thought it would be a bit easier now that more people were used to bigger tracks but it seems the same as back in the day when we were trying to organise days at Lydden.

Lydden is more than big enough for twenty cars on track. Chances are you'll have less than half that on most of the sessions anyway due to tyres and mechanical issues. Even with the inevitable cars in the gravel you'll still have plenty of time on track, easily more than at a drift day where you have to queue.

Spoke to lydden yesterday, they're gonna try to fill the remaining spaces too, and they were willing to be flexible on the min numbers too, so theres hope even if we dont make full 20.
As above this will mean losing the tyre man but he has agreed to come down lunch time and do a load of swaps so this would mean ensuring u have enough tyres on rims to last the morning (4 sessions). I know its a pain in the neck but its the best we can do with small numbers. If this is a problem please voice ur concerns.

Thats cool I have 4 pairs of wheels and Tyres if we could keep (is it will the tyre guy)? All afternoon that would be ace.

Yer Tyres arnt a Problem for us we will have enough wheels and Tyres let's hope there's enough people do make this happen we both have skidded lydden this year at bhp show and I think second best track to skid in England??!! It's epic more than enough room for 20 ppl, ppl need to pull there fingers out there arse stop moaning and do some fuc*ing skidding

Bump Bump
