JZS161 Aristo Mk2 skiddah.

Still messing around. Booked another driftday in a months time. Martin seems to think my lack of boost is faulty boost controller or wastegate. Uh. Ill mess around tommorow.

My buddy got this video from the last DWYB.

All went well, except its getting hot very quickly.. I think its heat soak as my PAS and clutch were feeling funny once hot. Ran the car up and down a few times and all was well again. Not sure the best way to remedy. Big old bonnet vent?!

Got an oil leak which should be easy to sort, was a great day, but not much seat time, and only being able to do 2-3 laps before getting too hot sucked..

Brakes are dope!

Not sure if ive made a grave error here, lol..

Itll either work or wont, depending on that itll either be binned or blended..

Oil cooler is up next, did want to do it today but after a long night, no chance..

Yeah, Im going to blend it this weekend and wrap the bonnet gloss black, winds me up to look at it now.. Although it does seem to work very well..

So..

Split another hose on the outlet to the turbo, so im hoping my buddy can weld a tighter outlet to it. He's a tig welder so I hope its okay..

IMG_20150401_183605_zpsintj8icu.jpg

The turbo outlet is tapered so doesnt hold hoses right, so ive been overtigtening and they tear once the heat hits..

Got some ally pipe and cut it, should be a decent lip to weld too..

Also want to upsize my turbo drain fittings. Currently an12, which is about 12mm ID inside the fittings, although the rubber pipe is larger, they seem quite restrictive.
Ive made these up, which are larger in bore, but do go down to 16mm ID in places, should be better, and also brings the rubber away from the turbo..

Also got some posh (read as expensive) metal multilayer manifold gaskets to go on while im pulling it apart..

Bit more done,

My buddy Tig welded a bend to the turbo which has worked out great, brings it right away from the source of heat and allows me to get a decent fittings on to it too.

IMG_20150403_185215_zpsxkydlnwp.jpg

Pulled the manifold setup, which awesomely can all be done from above, didnt have to jack the car up for any of this work..

IMG_20150404_151801_zpscd2zs2u6.jpg

Fitted some Cometic Mani gaskets

IMG_20150404_162236_zpswpecvvhc.jpg

Done some painting..

IMG_20150404_150848_zps8o0ovrgk.jpg

Bolted it all up..! No leaks and runs well.

Next is oil change, mocal oil thermostatic oil cooler and to smooth the bonnet vent in..

Once this is done itll either be another drift day booking or actually sent off to be mapped properly..

So..

Made a cover for the turbo housing, there's two skins, one hugs it quite closely, with the outer one you can see being 5-25mm away from it in places, hoping it keeps some heat away from the clutch reservoir and brake reservoir.

IMG_20150405_143229_zpstwsluwje.jpg

Done a filter/oil change.. Used Fuchs Titan S Pro 10w50. Had to triple check it wasnt ATF fluid, cant remember it being red last time :smash:

Fitted thermostat and pipework, ended up being here, should work well. Theres liturally no space up front anymore without cutting crash bars or copious amounts of pipework..

Trying to get it booked into mapping atm FTW.

Done some more bits today.. Mostly done..
Sunk the vent in

Still gotta actually do the filling and painting, but it actually works really well.. Next update should be after some skids..

Looks good with the vent blended in like that, needs less tyre and more low though :P

Where are you skidding next?

I love this video man! I watched it like 5 times now :p
Wondered if I make a vid of mine like this would it be as epic?
Vents are sick!

Ah finally, progress!

Car went in to be mapped by Romain, 1 week turned into 6 due to one reason or another, then we got to now, other than that all good!!

The car is now mapped at 1.5bar with the following :

Made a rain guard to stop the rain sitting on the motor.. :D

So now I can finally use the damn car,

It finally drives nicely. I havent played too much with it, but the traction control works epically. You can drive in to a roundabout and just floor it, itll just go round and the back wont come out, just keeps accelerating. Romain has given me 8 different settings for it, ill play around but its pretty great...

Anti lag makes lots of bangs, haven't been able to use the car enough to see how well it works, makes me giggle though....... Launch control is also setup, builds and holds 1 bar without load..

Done a run at santa pod:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W8nR_Yn5hI&feature=youtu.be

Was busy, then they shut the track for 3 hours, ended up just leaving, was crap.
So much fine though! The long gears with the 6 speed diff rear their head though, didnt even finish up 3rd gear! Terminal was 108mph, shitty start playing with the launch control, next time ill launch a lot lower without the boost etc.

Looks awesome, what vent is that? Looking to do something similar to keep my temps down.

hi,
awsome build dude looks mintaa. also just wondering what brand vent that is, is a bit of a different style and wouldnt mind one.
cheers mate

Was from knight racer or something on eBay :)

I havent done much with this at all recently. Last couple weeks I got it back out though.
Its been looking tatty and I havent wanted to drive it. So I set about doing the Vent AGAIN.... and done a single exit exhaust.

Ive been struggling to get the vent right, no cracks and ripples.
My dad helped me out, and took over the last month or so, a good solid 3-4 days. Raked it all back and redone from near enough scratch. Keying properly and putting mesh across the joints.

Before any work, check out the ripply bonnet after water ingress :(

Hoping to hit up some more drifting this year. But saving for a house is making it hard..

Cheers guys,
Cars still a way off being done.

Got the electrics to do, but ive stripped the autobox and nicked all the elctrics out of it to help in the long run.

Biggest issue is vehicle speed sensor.

auto box has 2. one is engine speed, one is vehicle speed. afaik, the engine speed is a backup if the other one stops working so the box knows whats going on, so im not going to bother with that..
the vehicle speed one is an AC 2 pin signal on a 12 toothed ring which ive removed from the box, but isnt big enough to mount to any of the prop, so ill make one and see.

The R154 box uses a digital pulse signal, itd be good if i could convert this to work, but cant find any info on doing it..

Hydro was fine, i never had hesitation, but the resistance from the box and that was quite high and required a lot of car shaking prior to successfully lock it up. worth mentioning after 5 or so drift days and banging between gears, there was no dirt in the filter or the pan magnets of the auto..

Sorry for the blast from the past quote mate, what pedal box, master cyliner etc did you use, have an Aristo myself and wouldnt mind changing to manual! PM if you want?
