Well we caught it quite early but unfortunately as she doesnt know much about engines she didnt know what she was listening for and carried on driving it. We'll have to wait and see when we take the block apart. At a guess i'd say its just shells but we're keeping our fingers crossed.

well i see what your saying about being honest thing...

but if she doesnt know much about s13's then surely she should have taken someone with her who knew???

i know thats what ive done in the past...

I know what you mean thats what most people will do but its not always as easy as that, especially as she was travelling so far to pick it up. A lesson learned i think.

hmm yer agreed but didnt paul drop the car off to her???

but good luck with fixing it

Not taking sides etc but its up to the buyer to make sure the car is cool before buying etc. If you did not notice the big ends at the time, maybe its because the fault was just on the drive home, how was it driven home?? Fast, or nice and normal etc, it could of been the way it was driven it might just of been bad luck.

these are always the problems with buying a USED car. No one forces people to buy smething.

if I was me who bought the car and got it home and it fuck up, then its tough titties isnt it! Thats the problem with buying a £2000 car, its not going to be like new is it and its not an unheard of problem the big end on an uk s13 is it?? The person should of seen that the car has done alot of miles and hasnt had the big ends changed.

Im not ranting or blaming anyone etc for the problem. I;m just saying that sometimes its not always perfect when buying a used car esp a S13!! :D

Hope you get it sorted.

Gutted :(

As above really, it is the risk you take when buying a 10+ yr old car.

I bought a Range Rover Classic as a tow car last month and today its gone in for £400's worth of welding and repairs already.

Hope you guys get it sorted asap

I can guarentee there was no knocking whatsoever when it left my hands.... I drove all the way up to Luton, and not a bit of noise... Id have noticed straight away if there was...

This cars been driven pretty hard for the last 10k or so miles, im not gonna deny that, but its had more than regular oil changes, its had a new turbo on it within the last 2k miles, braided oil feeds within the last month, so to say ive not looked after it would be a bit silly of me... It has, and as ive said, everyone who's been in the car with me over the oast month or so could quite happily agree that it drove perfectly, with no noise, no knocking..

The cars had a full oil change within 100 miles of me selling it!

All i can do i say sorry that its happened, but i really had no idea.... Otherwise id have rebuilt it stronger....

am sorry if this gets some people backs up but how can you be nice as pie about it on here and then slag her off saying that you dont believe her on other forums??

for those who havent seen it!

I gaurantee the bottom end has gone and i will post the pics of the damge that has been done in the 95% time giving it shit. i appreciate the fact at that point it was your car so thats up to you and she bought it as seen but there is no way an oil change was done less than 100 miles ago and the ammount of crap thats sat in the sump is not just there from her driving it home.

If you do work on your new car i would advise spending a bit more time checking things over. Top mounts seated correctly, coil over - hub bolts all loose, only 1 bolt left in the turbo elbow, and that was about to fall out.
Not saying anything about your workman ship but i would strongly advise double checking things

Arf... She was fully made aware that there was two nuts missing from the exhaust/elbow.... I told her 3 times, i was working 7am-7pm so i just couldnt physically do them within the time period she wanted the car dropping off in...

Top mounts were seated wrongly i agree, but it never seemed to give me any problems... If they would have, id have corrected them....

But trust me... Ask James, i bought a set of oil feeds less than a month ago... Full oil change straight after that

And i never said she was lying.. I wrote:
Has apparently blown up..... Fuck knows how, and im not sure if its totally true... But i certainly couldnt manage it in the 6 months i had it!

That was basically me referring to maybe the fact it hadnt totally blown up, or something less important had gone.. To be told the car has 'blown up' seemed a bit sudden after 3 days....

As for the bottom ends, again, there was no knocking at all when i dropped it off.... So how am i to know? I cant see into the future.. Id be a millionaire by now if i could!

fair enough if you told her i wasnt aware of that, and you knew about the camber adjusters the wrong way round but the bolts that hold the coil over bolts to the hubs were about to fall out.

And if you truly didnt know it was only its way out then all i can say is its lucky you didnt keep the car as it wouldnt have lasted long.

here are some pics of the bottom end btw

Deffo told her about the exhaust nuts.. Im sure she'd agree.... Wasnt aware of the nuts lose to the hubs.. They were put on with a machine that we used on the chinooks, so never imagined theyd come loose.. lol!

Again, i can only go on what i knew, and the car ran fine for me.. I cant advertise it as anything different to what i know, surely?

bad things happen im affriad and i dont think anyone is to blame and this thread is bloody pointless now! its just tit for tat

Ive stated before.. if id have known it was close to going, itd have given me the excuse to RB it... And would have given me a reason to keep it....
