@ MInt.
As far as I know. No complaints were expressed to the judges about rnd 1. In fact only a few came to ask "questions" as was suggested in the drivers briefing about their performance. Questions were answered and if I remember correctly those who asked questions and payed attention actually ended the event with better results than during qualifying.
Myself for one, hardly knew anyone "personally" and was my first time at Teesside, so the bias part was not there. Another fact, most of the drivers that were finished came up and watched from the judging tower and stood right behind us watching the judging. They could see the judging was fair.
I know what its like to feel like things are bias. Most times I was wrong about it, however I was correct once and it did not feel good. I would never be bias towards a team or individual when judging. One of the best drivers there received the lowest qualifying score, but instead of crying out bias, he came to me and asked what he did wrong. By the end of the event he drove his ass off and walked away with a trophy, middle finger in the air! haha! Thats what drifting is about!
If you have doubts, then ask, its a learning series for most of you, most of you are in competition under pressure for the first time. The mistakes and improvements are very clear when watching from the judging tower. Don't forget you have Professional drivers doing the judging who compete themselves and know what its like. Everything your experiencing we have felt or been through already. So remembering that we try to judge as fairly as possible but also remembering that it is a learning place and stepping stone for most of you who will go on to better things. We are not making it easy on any of you trust me, but also if we judged more harshly, many of you would probably get discouraged, and that is not what we want, we want to see future drivers coming up in this series who will eventually be lined up against us in battle on the pro international level.
We have gotten thumbs up from pretty much everyone, so who ever thinks the judging is bias, this is my first time hearing about it, and all they got to do is step up and ask why. What did they think was biased and who are you talking about said such things?
For the most part if you were able to get the car sideways you were in the show! lol! how biased can that be. With tons of straightening, corrections, people off the race line, spins, shallow driving, and some not even hitting the clipping points correctly still get a score and not a zero. We made it super easy but still challenging enough for drivers to half to grow a pair and push themselves. There is such a huge gap between levels and our goal is to fix it.
So not aimed at you, but I want to let everyone know right now, that any biased judging rumors or "hey thats my buddy" judging is bullshit, and is not accepted by anyone on the judging panel. So kill your rumors now. Everyone is always welcome to come to the judging tower in between and check things out just like others did. We had so many drivers briefings where I carefully explained what we wanted you to do and even asked if anyone doesn't understand. That was the chance to step up. Some drivers listened, others continued to just go out and do their own thing and results showed. When your being judged its not about if you can make it around the track, or maybe some feel just because they drifting the car they get good scores. No, its about drifting the car and putting it where the judges want and how the judges want it. Some did that, others didn't. School is in session!
