Olly's 180sx Type X then JZX110 Mark II then JZX100 Mark II

Random update, did another track day with Supra brakes and Semi-slicks which was awesome, followed by a bit of a road trip and then a skid pan day where we made a cool little track and I managed to drift the car for the first time.

God damn this is beautiful. Makes me wish I held out for a MarkII now instead of a Chaser.

What tyre/tyre size are you running on the car with the semi-slicks? I have wheels with the same width and offset and was looking to put something more track focused on.

Hey mate they are Zestino 225/40 and the wheels are 9.5+12 all around.

The guards are lipped but that’s about it. It’s a bit pokey for my liking but doesn’t rub at all on the track.

sure man - ollyfromtaupaki on instagram :D

Small update, had an annoying failure of the Cusco front camber arms.. had to replace the balljoints, found some brand new front clear indicators and installed a Koyo rad for the next skid pad day, this isn't because the car was overheating, more so due to the lack of air flow on the pad and the fact I want to make the bay look a bit cooler to look at.

I got another late call up to a mid-week drift day, this time on the Hampton Downs club circuit. D-Club had just held the Animal Style GP there on the Sunday and I took my son along to watch for a bit. Here he is taking a few photos of his favourite cars:

The driving on this day was another level, some of the best 3 - 4 car tandems I've seen, anywhere.

Anyway, this was my first day drifting a track and I was nervous as hell, I borrowed a mates pair of XT7 and bought some cheap 225/40/18.

I did 3 sessions and by the third I was pretty happy with how my driving ended up. I couldn't link the first and second corner but I could add a manji and it made things a lot more fun. I might try to leave it in third next time.

Car was a champ. So stoked on this thing. No issues again.

Could be keen on that Ben, will see! I need to do some maintenance on the car now :D

I did manage to get the brick headlights in. I'm so stoked how these look, they have totally transformed the front of the car... The chrome housings made the car look a bit VIP now it looks a lot more Sports Sedan if that makes sense. I also got a set of DMAX smoked corner lights that really match the black housings well.

I need to get some HIDs for the new lights and will do a full service before another drift day later in Summer. I did pick up a pair of 18x9.5+20 Work Emotion Kiwami that I'll get fixed up and paint matched to the 57CR for drift spares.

Agree, headlights make it less old man and more purposeful

Picket's changed Matsuri to March 21/22 to avoid clashing with D1. I can't go as Tom & Kathy are getting married that weekend

Small update - For anyone doing JZA80 Supra brake conversion on a JZX100, specifically the rear: JZA80 inner brake shoes for JZX100 are needed, this allows the factory handbrake to work. I haven't installed the rear calipers and rotors purely because I didn't know these existed and I wanted to do some drifting and it would have sucked without a handbrake.

They should get here in the next week or so.

I've also ordered a Tomei cast iron manifold. There were a few options out there for the next step with the motor - the most common seems to be a GTX3076 and top mount manifold or a TD06 25g.

I priced both of these up... but then I went drifting at Club Circuit at Hampton Downs.. This will most likely be the main track I do a lot of my driving at, my car 100% stock on 225's seemed to go well both grip and drift.. for drifting I would have liked to stay in 3rd gear but I've been told it's most likely not going to link that next corner unless I go down the road of running 265s which is going to ruin the look of the car or the style I like if I'm totally honest.

So I'm going to go down a bit of a different route and run a tomei manifold + hi-flow CT15b for now, then a Power FC + 1000cc injectors + fuel pump. I'm aiming for around 270kw at the rear wheels.

I really like the Power Curve on this manifold, with more power and torque from 3500 - 5000rpm.

My OCD about how disgusting the rear brakes look is now at a better level.

Also purchased a Power FC & J Pipe delete. Next is injectors, FPR, Fuel Pump & boost controller than tune. Has anyone had experience with SARD injectors? I was looking at buying caldina 3SGTE ones but not keen on second hand stuff.

Thanks man, well NZ is now in total lockdown but a few parts turned up over the last week. Should be ready to get tuned the moment we are allowed out of our house :S
