Here's both of mine, both 150k on the clock standard engine 1.6s, my current red one has got totally standard suspension, white thing had 200quid eBay coil overs.

What's your opinion on the eBay coilovers? Thinking of getting a set pre owned for £120 done 4-5k on the current car

My old little mx5 (some pictures are with an open diff and a welded diff)

Standard 1.6 n/a
Ebay coilies

Give that a proper read in a while  cheers!

Ebay coilies are dog turds. No lie>

Stock shocks with cut springs are much better and BCs are even better. Id imagine HSDs are even better again.

heres a short vid of mine at pembrey from a couple weekends back. Knuckles, welder, BCs.

and a helmet cam vid, the stock 1.6 is struggling with an extra 80kg lol

Cool vids Kev!

And yeah, I can't tell you what nice suspension is like, but IMO the stock suspension is better to drift on than the ebay stuff.

Both are fine to pull 3rd in the dry in mind, wouldn't be rushing to change suspension in the hope it will help you pull skids.

in short, you where in a car pack spitting flames out of an mx5, leave it to the saxo boys and get it sideways :)

Actually I was first told it was spitting flames when I was drifting. I have lots of vids of me drifting but all are 'in car' vids not on a track.. Didn't want the abuse from preachers :(

So what's better the 1.6 lump or the 1.8 lump? Going to look at a 1.8 on saturday but if the 1.6 is better I wont bother
