Dont really matter IMO.

1.8 would prob be a bonus due to the slight power and torque increase, but either or.

I guess its not about power with an MX5 anyways. I've only drifted low powered E30's so hopefully shouldn't take me long to get used to the mx5

Had both. 1.6 is my favourite. Both will drift. Engine size isn't as important as bollocks size
