basically a ae86 isnt worth 5k
BUT
Its a UK spec, low milage car.
This sort of car can fetch good money for what it is, as a person will see this as not a track/drift, car but a great base to have an original 'twincam'.
Hence why this sort of car in its original un-modified condition can be seen as worth more or bertter depending on the person who buys it.
I think a car like this, to fetch decent money for what its worth, will find its place better on Ebay, or through word of mouth. More than likely the person who will pay £3k+ for it will be from Ireland, as they really do like the original UK spec AE86 over the Jap versions.
Thats why you see alot of JAP AE86's with uk spec rear lights etc, its because some people have a different idea/tastes of how they like their ae86's to be (some like drift/track look and some like the original look - depends how they hold them in there heart! ).
Good luck with the sale, but my advice is, if you want decent money and want to attract serious buyers, spend the weekend giving this car a proper clean. I dont meen just soapy water and a hose. Go out, buy a few decent products like polish, bumper restorer, etc.
Clean under all the rubber seals round the boot/door, under the bonnet, engine bay, get a jet wash underneath the car and spray away all the crap. Then make sure the interior is a spik and span as poss and give the car a good service and make sure everything works how it should. The right person will come along and see the car in it best condition. And make sure you take better pic to advertise it than what you have put up. With shots from all angles and key places where they rust to show a true condition of the car like the 'pockets' and the inner wing/strut near the exhaust manifold.
To the right person this car is only worth its money by its condition it is currently in and your ability to put forward the car in a good light when for sale.
I personally think the car is worth 3.5-4K if its tidy clean, good photos and full MOT and TAX oh and to the right sort of buyer ie probly not a drifter/track car person - unless they are stupid!
example - I bought recently a KE70 for £1300. Its a UK spec, 1.3 DX, 4speed, 25,000 mile, all MOT's etc. I have been offered £1600 plus since i have had it and thats not a AE86 but this car is truely MINT as in no rust and an early more desirable version. Its just depends who wants this car when its for sale. If the car is as good as you say then it wont have trouble selling.
Good luck!
