ill put some input in.
motor is a fully built ka24de
cp pistons, eagle rods, BC valve springs/retainers, BC 272 cams, ls2 coilpacks, holset hx35... etc. She made 319 rwhp and ~328 lf-ft of Tq @ 10 psi I hit full boost around 3700-4000 rpm depending on what gear,

Got a question to you.
I got a HE351CW for my 1J sitting here.
Can i change the 9cm² housing to a 12cm² HX35 housing maybe?
I´m not sure if the HE will hold the boost at 6500RPM +.
 
Sort of, it's not quite the same, but near enough that it can be fitted.
But funnily enough, I have a divided 12cm HE351W housing sitting here I could sell you.

Hang on- I presume your turbine has the 4bolt fixing to the core? Or is it the V-band? HE351s have both depending what it came off.

If v-band, no sorry, if 4bolt, yes.

I bought a hx35 for my rb25 but was shafted as the seller lied and he exducer was fucked. I got a little creative and I now run a hybrid of my own. I combined two holsets using the hx35 compressor and another much smaller h1 series exhaust housing.

I've got it on a 3" turbo back exhaust, and a 38mm external waste gate. If I can find a data log I will post it up as its quite interesting. It makes 1.3bar by 3400rpm and will hold that until it peaks at 8000-8500rpm

Edit: that gave 406fwhp and off the top of my head 360lbft at 4000rpm

I got the v-band one. ^^

IMO the 9cm shouldn't be a problem at all, I doubt the area difference inside the turbine between 9cm undivided and 12cm divided is much at all.
I'm running a 9cm turbine housing on mine with a much smaller turbine wheel than yours and with a RB20 even at 8000rpm it feels like it doesn't let up at all. (4in exhaust though)
 
Welded up my new 12cm exhaust housing today...

Made a plug to go in to old internal gate flap hole so on the inside of the scroll is smooth, didn't want a hole inside to disturb the flow of gas..

I also made a plate and welded it in over the gap left for the internal gate to vent back into the exhaust, I saw this gap as something that will disturb the free flow of the exhaust gas, with the plate welded in the gas will just flow on passed..

Very interesting thread...can I ask a question in relation to the HX35 please.
I got a brand new Internally gated HX35 sitting waiting to go on my SR. Been advised the get a Bullseye racing housing, it's for an eclipse but a straight bolt onto an HX35 and had an a/r of .55 I think.
If I change my mind and went RB25, would this set up work well or would I want a bigger exhaust housing?

Depends what size housing it is. If it's a 12cm I'd personally just run it on the SR, and deffo perfect for the RB. If its 14-16 it should be fine on an RB too, but overkill on a SR unless it was just for drag stuff etc.
If it larger than that I'd deffo source a different housing.
 
I'm pretty sure it's a 12cm housing, it's fearly small and twin scroll.
Will keep this in mind, thank you mate. Now to finish one car first :)
 
i found a holset HC1, am i mistaken that they compare to the hx35? i know that there are 2 diffrent versions, but i think to do about the same power. or am i completely wrong here?
