the lock thread

I think the amount of lock people are getting is bordering rediculous.. I'm all for increasing lock to a certain extent, but think people are just going way over board with it, especially the e30 kits and wisefab kits etc..
It's all to take out driver error and detracts from the skill needed to skid fast.

I mean fuck off.. Just fuck off with your stupid lock.. Wtf is wrong with you?

I have to agree. I have seen some in car footage of the wisefab kits and the steering seems awful. All the small corrections are now hige corrections at the wheel. Plus it looks dick running a 7 inch wheel in the front for clearance. Also just my opinion

I have spent 2 years trying to build mental lock with flat contact patch ect ect.

But not anymore, its the oppsoite of what I want from my car. Wisefab does the opposite of what I want :/

my latest setup has 215 toyo road tyres instead of 245 ad08s and now iam running tons of caster instead of fuck all caster.

my car is a bitch in the wet and pretty much has fuck all front end grip. I do have healthy lock still!

Anyways my car is loads faster now then it was before, does backwards without even trying.

ill stick with my geomasters thanks :D well I will unless I find money for gktech lol

Very interesting to read, he sure knows his stuff. I use the SLR kit on my E36 and gives me now around 60° or a bit more. Very satisfied with that and still makes it possible for me to throw the car around, just the way I like it. (Lydden Hill entries). Improved the feel and steering a million times compared to stock. But as he also stated, it differs from car to car. E36's have a great weight distribution so mine has allot of grip in the rear too.

On e36 with e46 LCA's and modded hubs, do i need longer tie rods or do stock work? Nobody mentioned tie rods here :(

If i cut the spindle 25mm i need to correct ackerman by 10mm towards inside on each side, right? That means 35 longer LCA's will become 25mm longer LCA's... does the stock tie rod work that long? IF no, what stock tie rods work? e34/e39 maybe?

My setup is.

Tein rods and ends and spacer.
Geomaster offset rack spacers.
Geomaster tension rods.
Dori labs lock kit which consists of
+25mm lower arms, notched and gusseted.
Modified knuckles (mega short)

I have much more lock to gain but at the moment I'm hitting the tension rod :(

I have plenty lock ATM but have loads more throw left in the rack, next on the list is remove the arb and relocate or fabricate a new tension rod.
