toyota soarer??

I do believe the cauliflower may just be salvageable...

Basically, you are right, when cruising the Turbos 'switch out' and when you need some gusto the gearbox drops and in that time [if the engineers have done their work well] the turbos have spooled and as the power comes in the TC has done its' work and the power delivery from the turbos matches the drive function... they compliment each other perfectly, the same applies to a quick shifting auto, there is no boost lost at all if you adjust the detent within the 'box, the result is that every gear change is a 'power' gear change... a properly sorted [£275] auto'box'd Soarer is faster to 60 and 100mph than the manual and what is ore it can do it time after time after time after time...

I did issue another challenge, any drag Skyline/Supra manual against my Soarer, we take the aggregate times of 10 quarter times, they have to be run one after the other, no breaks, nothing... I could pull 12.2s all day in mine, do that time all day... now how long would the average manual car last if asked to do the same? I suspect most would be ruined after that... the Soarer, would leave the contest the winner and would pull another 12.2 as it went...

Failure to complete ten runs meant the one left running wins.

Strangely, no one wanted the challenge...

il challenge you in my focus 1.8tddi...

yeh i know lots of american guys via the internet and even though the majority of them do prefer manuals some have gone for proper autoboxes for their muscle cars with too much power, for reliability mainly.

very interesting Mr M :) ..

i wonder why some of the Uk's faster Japanese drag cars (ie the likes of GTaRt's car, Sumo's etc) don't attempt an auto box conversion ??

Because drag racing in an auto doesn't take much skill once the car is off the line, you just keep your foot planted. Those who want ultimate pace go for an auto, those who want to enjoy the ride and the challenge get a manual

Hahahaha... nice contradiction...

Have you ever been in a fighter aircraft... the damn thing just accelerates, it doesn't change gear in fits and starts now does it! I'm pretty sure fighter pilots enjoy the relentless acceleration, just as any normal person, it is only the moronic chav that thinks his new found skill of 'pudding stirring with a purpose' is in some way the acme of achievement.

You see the reason the Soarer really is good is that hasd an engine that can turbine [I'm sure you know what that means] it is as far as I know one of only a handful road car engines capable of this whilst under load.

Now your more in my area. My Dad runs this www.area51aviation.co.uk he has 15 fighter jets including Hawks, Gnats and L39's :D I know what you mean, but I like to be challenged. If I wanted an easier life, I would buy an auto, give up drifting, give up my job as a city trader, give up modding my car, you see where this is going? It's all about personal taste, and you my good man, have no right to tell me, what I can and cannot find fun :)

If you wanted a challenge you would learn how to master an Auto and not have it control you... that is a challenge.

You could try to drift an Auto, that too is a challenge.

Your job funds your lifestyle, it is of your choosing, as is your lifestyle.

It is all about having fun [or not] who are you to say that an Auto is catagorically bad when you have as yet to master one?

Alex
Ha ha, small world indeed! :D Yeah, I went up in his first plane, the L29 Delfin before his best friend crashed it and died  and I've been up in the L39 and I the gnats a few times. My favourite one (in it's original Red Arrows colour scheme) was crashed on landing by some tosser mate of my dads about 9 months ago and is still being repaired. Gotta give the guy props though, he got it down safely in a field with no undercarriage  but still, he's a twat for running out of fuel :smash: I haven't been up with him for almost a year now cause he spent the whole of 2004 flying with the Red Arrows as it was their anniversary and it was kind of like the last two gens of the Red Arrows flying together at all the displays. Have you been down there and seen the setup?
