your views 2jz, 1jz or sr20det ?

In short, stick with the SR. But if your adoment on doing it, just do it, BUT its not a walk in the park.

Im running a JZ sbody, ran it last year in the BDC. Last years car was ridiculously primitive, bog standard 1jz, coilovers, welded diff, and subframe bushes. Not a single adjustable arm in sight :wack: (considering the height i ran it) But considering the basic spec i managed to finish 3rd overall in semi-pro class.

The 2010 car is certainly far more advanced than the last, but only time will tell how competitive it is in the Pro class.

Also i've noticed my JZ seems to sit considerably lower than other swaps ive seen.

Lastly Paul Smith is doing well in his 1JZ S15.

if your back end comes loose under heavy braking atm, think how much worse it will be with a bigger block upfront?

i really would love a 2jz or Rb26. for the powers and torque. but i think you would find when really pushing the car, it just will not do anything without the back stepping out.

For drifting it may well be great :D

I have had a few peeps drive my car now. Bizzle, lex, paul howard and monkey magic have all told me my car is very well balanced and setup, just needs more power. iam not saying that they are or arent top level drivers but theyre opinion must count for something.

they could have just been saying that though cose its ample for my level of skill.

im going back to the sr !! gunna have to find some other cars to put the jz's in !
thanks for all your help guys, gunna order all the parts now !

i will put a post up after the rebuild..... td06 or t67 ???? anyone know what the t67's are like ? laggy ??

thanks, Matt

Don't know about the T67 on the a SR but the TD06 20G is got to be the best journal bearing turbo for the SR- but you pay for it
Im now using a HX30 mate so I have a new (genuine) holset HX35 if you want 450hp+

When are you back in the UK mate?

seem to be able to pick them up for around 600 !! or is that too cheap ??
been reading about the holset turbos, hx35 is about the same size as a gt35r, which mite be a bit to laggy for mine ! do you know when full boost would be achieved using that !

i come back on the 5th of june, then thinkin see the year out on here then compete next year !!!

My friends and i were discussing this and theoretically more weight in the front should give more traction (F=μR), but its the effect on the polar moment of inertia that will reduce the cars responsiveness so id have thought to counter this an adjustment could be made to tow to increase turn in response, the downside being a reduction in high speed stability but it wouldnt be a massive change. Any thoughts?

You and your friends talk about the effect on the polar moment of inertia??

Geek lol.

I want a rapid, sexy sounding 1jz'd s13!!!

so what about your F=ma??
you'll need a bigger F to change the direction of a bigger m:smash:

right but more weight over the front wheels means you have more grip to be able to turn. otherwise you are thinking of the moment of inertia which is effectively its resistance to turn. as i said, im pretty sure a tweek to the tow should be able to take care of it.

And yeh, we are geeks lol, the curse of the engineer

I'd say Sr, because it'll save you time and money. But i'd love a jz in an s-body, i'd just rather buy one built.

I recon the ill effects on handling are internet shite nine times out of ten. Especially with home built ones. The reason being is people either throw them in an dont mess with suspension to change the handling, or arent good enough drivers to know what the handling is doing, for better or worse, because of the engine or not.

If you dont need the benefits of the JZ, then its just for willy waving reasons and you may as well not bother. If you genuinely feel you need the extra power (450+ really) and know how to adjust the suspension etc to suit, then do it.

right but more weight over the front wheels means you have more grip to be able to turn.

i'm just saying that yeah you get more grip, but you need all of that extra grip in order to change the direction of the heavier car at the same speed :p
calculate it ;)

If i could corner weight the car then i would, problem is i dont have scales to do it. But like you said, you get more grip and need more grip, so it may go some way to cancelling itself out.

maccyD - bollocks.....if the front end of the car is too heavy, its gona push the nose on cornering = shite drift. end of!

have you actually drifted a car with a heavier lump upfront?? Ive got a heavier engine upfront, and i certainly dont do 'shite drifts' It's about how you set the car up as well as how you adjust your driving too it.
