Fruitbooters S15 (Refurb time)

Nice buld dude, good to see that your taking care of the underside. I'm doing something similar with my PS, but it seems to be taking forever...

That Dyanx s50 is good shit too, i've used that along with dinitrol stuff for the cavities. Alot of people don't realise how cars, especially s-bodys tend to rot from the inside out. The problem is, I painted mine underneath after taking it back to bare metal. It looked really good but I got paranoid about stone chips etc so I ended up taking it all back apart and schutzing it....

Good to see excessive use of copper grease too!

Good work :)

Looks awesome good work.

Didnt by any chance used to have a corsa b did you?

I did yes! Had 4 of them lol, 2 gsi reps and 1 with a C20LET

Cheers mate!

Cant beat protection :dw:

Yeh I got really paranoid too when surface rust started forming after like 1-2 months of bad weather! Dread to think what it would of turned out like un-treated 3-4 years down the line...I think mine should be okay from stonechips as its got some 3M stone chip in the arches and underside followed by Dynax S50 which wont crack etc either :smokin:

I need to do the front the same way when I get chance and im ready to take the car off the road for another 6 months! Also want to check it over from the inside too like in the doors etc and inside the rear quarters..thats if you can even get in them after removing trim...weel see when I get round to it

Brokebackmountain of gay.

I drink a beer, eat a steak, sign on to driftworks to see people's pictures and videos of cars getting ragged to shit. I look at the projects thread so see what people are doing to their heaps of craps, and I see an S15 thread. I like S15s and think they're kinda interesting so I click on this mess.
6 fucking pages later. Not one clutch kick. Not one manji. Not one fucking slide. Not even a fucking donut. And would you believe it. NOT ONE MOTHER FUCKING BURNOUT.
I refuse to accept this.

Over.

Sorry I dont understand if thats a piss take or your being serious?

If you being serious then I can assure you I bought the S15 to drift..but at the moment i am getting the car to how I want it...ive took it out for a few plays, ive done donuts, ive done manjis (in the wet :p) why would I want to rape / rag the shit out my car? Would it make me cool? Nah ill pass thanks! Go back to your steak

Most s15 owners tend to be of the 'show and shine' kind from experience on being on the Owners Club topi dude, its just the way it is.. :p

Yeh i've done the reverse really, sorted the front and still have the rear to do, but with the engine in bits and buying a house it doesnt look like i'm going to be driving it any time soon :(

You should be able to get inside the rear 3/4s easily enough with shit removed, can get inside the sills too once you take the rear bench and rear 3/4 interior panels out :)

Saturday started out like this -

Advan AVS Model 5's 17x9 & 17x8

Thought it would be rude not to treat the car to some new wheel nuts as 1. they look better and 2. these are steel and shouldnt round like my crappy ally ones..

IMG_8712.jpg

So with fitting the new wheels I thought the ride height needs to be looked at also, the fronts were a bit corroded and had to be taken off and persuaded with wd40 and a hammer on the mount.

It took me about 3 hours maybe more to fully lower the car, it took so many attempts to get each side right and to the height I was happy with. In the end I think it went down about 30mm at the back and 15mm at the front, I still need it down more tbh but the centre box is quite low to the ground so will need to be removed before I can lower it more.

Anyway some photos -

your fussyness has paid off! i only hope i can do similar to my car in the future! was the advan avs model 5's hard to source in such good condition?

Thats the plan

Need to chop the middle box out, try and raise the exhaust slightly and then I can lower it more. Its already got quite low ground clearance as it is so im not going to go crazy with it as the roads round here suck.

Just gathering some service parts at the moment as its overdue then I will do that and sort the height out.

Also need to look at getting some rear camber arms as I dont want stupid camber and tyre wear once ive lowered it loads.

It sounds like you have the right idea already but imo don't go silly low with it because although it'll look nice it'll be a pig to drive and wont handle well. So many people spend loads of money on all this suspension and then wind it down to as low as it goes which like I say just seems like a waste of money to me! I'd rather just have a car which drives nicely and handles well!

Not done anything for a while!

Gave it a long overdue service the other day...
