Jordan's S13 Silvia ♠️♠️

Just read through your first build thread, and judging by that this PS13 going to be pretty sick,can't wait to see progress. :cool:

If you don't mind me asking... Who was your insurer for your 200SX? as I'm wanting to start drifting; I'm 19 with 1 years no claims and I've been doing some quotes and so far it looks like an MX5 will be the weapon of choice. But I did a quote for a 200 and even with 2 years no claims the insurance is still over a grand, unmodified. :mad:
Cheers.

There no point in asking really because there are so many variables that apply. The best thing you can do is pick up the phone and ring round and get the best quote and then ring round again and get then to beat it

This ^^ I was insured through Elephant and still am until I begin stripping it down. If i remember rightly when I was 19 I paid £850ish mods declared and the following year (now) it was something like £650 but again unfortunately its down to personal circumstances. It helped being a UK 200sx too, if its an import you'll struggle even more.

You selling the Boot spoiler off the S13???

Already sold and fitted on a friends 180 unfortunately dude, sorry!

Anyway, slight update. 30th August I'm hoping to pick this up and can start unveiling my grand master plans for it :)

bought off glen, i bought his last shell and all, the bits off that one the sr and full build, clean shell that mate wish i had bought it

Yeah I'm planning on doing the similar kinda thing, using my 13 to build the Silvia shell up :) his old red 13 was pretty cool, had a nice street vibe to it

thats her at the momment bit rough and ready but all running and driveing now with the fully built custom front and rear subframes with sr20det running a gt28 ball bearing turbo with external wastegate and screamer pipe, will be painted primer next week then some point made pretty down the line

So mini update, fingers crossed I'm still collecting the new shell next saturday so decent updates and my grand master plan will start getting unveiled as I progress!

Today was a sad day though, had the final drive in the S13 and started to break her to bits :cry::cry:

Started off by taking the easy to remove valuable parts so I can store them safely. Hopefully this week ill get the time to start remove the more vital parts ready for the new shell.

Ah man your 200 was so cool.
Good luck with your ps tho man glens a top bloke so you will have no troubles there!

Really looking forward to the Onevia build Jordan! But that s13 will still serve as an inspiration for my black s13 build haha :) Wish you all the best for this one :)

Cheers dude! Glad my old 13 inspired some people, just wish we had your weather over here!

Well, D-day had come and been! Im now in the possession of the PS13 shell after taking the 400 mile round trip, which I must say a huge huge thanks to a friend of mine who offered to drive and tow it back for me. So, got there, met Glen etc and went about getting the shell "rolling" and slap my spare rota's to get it onto the trailer.

This is all went relatively straight forward, maybe too easy lol.

Because the front had no steering setup, nor tension rods etc they wanted to go wherever they want. The rear subframe was in a similar state, the hubs were only connected via the rear toe arms haha.

With the car looking like it had been in a number of crashes with each wheel pointing in opposite direction, we eventually got it onto the trailer and set about strapping it down etc.

Yesterday morning I went down to the car, cleared it out and see where I stood with it, and to be honest I'm more than chuffed with the shell, goes to show there are some decent dudes in the scene and honestly advertise things.

Couldn't resist a cheeky shot;

The next phase was to remove my old rear subframe, which wasn't as easy as it should have been with one of the boomerang brackets deciding to not come undone, but a few whacks here and there it came off pretty straight forward.

I was originally going to strip the subframe bare and get it powder coated, but seeing as it wont be seen, I think ill clean it right up and a lick of paint to freshen it up a tad.

Me being me, couldn't resist taking a few more pictures

Left the day with the rear subframe looking like so;

Which isn't in a bad condition compared to most 13's which are covered in rust. So plan of attack is wire brush & sander and hopefully be able to get a reasonable finish for something I wont always be looking at. Ordered some fresh rear ball joints for the RLCA's as they hadn't gone yet, but they are getting on a tad now and id rather do it now whilst they are off than undo everything to change them.

Also ordered some Driftworks RLCA bushes, as these are still the standard bushes from factory and definitely need replacing if I want any more grip/better handling characteristics with the new found setup thats going in.

The old' 13 is coming to its end of days though, although hopefully I can persuade my friend to buy it and make it live again in the future, who knows!

keep up the good work!

Just read through this, looking forward to seeing more. Keep it up bud

Cheers guys, progress is slow at the moment. Constantly seems to be 1 step forward and 5 steps back.

Anyway, yesterday and todays plan of attack was to strip and clean the subframe and lower arms ready for a quick coat of paint before getting reassembled. However, this didn't go to plan unfortunately. I was going to be replacing the standard 24 year old rear lower control arms bushes with some polyurethane items from Driftworks;

Whilst I was there, I had a quick look at my rear balljoints as they looked like the originals that my old 13 rocked out the factory with. They weren't gone or showing signs of going, but its one of those things while the lower arm is off, id rather get everything fresh instead of un doing everything in the future, so managed to get hold of some Nissan B12 Sentra balljoints, which I'm led to believed are all but identical to S13 rear balljoints.

However, a "friend" said that he could take my lower arms to a garage and get the balljoints and bushes removed, ideal. But this morning I was greeted with him asking for money and giving me some arms back which in my mind were unsafe to run. They managed to crack the sleeves/tubular part of the lower arm where the bushes sit, and tried to bodge 2/4 sleeves with some pigeon welding and gave them to me. Im sorry but this was unacceptable, a swift up yours and no money meant I had a pair of broken arms and now meant I had to source new rear lower arms, which thankfully someone on here came forward who had a pair! I may get a friend or engineering shop to try and repair my original ones in the future, but the less interaction the said garage has with these lower arms the better!!

So anyway, to take my mind of this I decided to refit my Powered by Max high mount intercooler that I ran on my 13. When I fitted it previously, I had to rush fitting it as it was a daily driver and needed to get to uni the next day, so wasn't as neat as id like so another chance of installing this let me to try and neaten things up and improve on where to cut etc.

I decided to cut a bit further up towards the slam panel this time, reason being it was a bugger to tighten hose clamps when fiddling about with boost hoses, so a more neater and larger cut was my solution to this and fingers crossed it wont be such a problem :thumbs:

Decided to bin the centre bonnet latch, as at the moment the car isn't registered on the UK roads anyway, and with the fibreglass bonnet off my 13, I wouldn't mind running aero/bonnet catches of some kind to make it easier. Drilled out the spot welds on the slam panel and undone the rust free bolt and the bottom and voila!!

I trimmed the side support bracket thingys though and made them fit for 2 reasons;

a) It gives the slam panel a bit more support
b) It'll help support the front bumper from sagging (fingers crossed!)

All fitted up;

When I take the intercooler out whenever I paint the engine bay, ill go over it again just tidying little things but as far as I can see I'm happy how its mounted, so a positive of the day eh!! :wack:

After this I felt it was needed for a bit of fun, so a friend popped over, fitted his uprated rear ARB and messed about with my PS for a bit, I slapped on my old headlights that are fixed in the up position (due to the HMIC requiring the removal of headlight motors) and also slapped on my D-Max bonnet just to cheer me up, see what it looks like and just be a pure lifestyler for 5minutes. Sadly I didn't take a picture, so will get one when I can but I think it'll look good when all my plans come together in the future :smoking:

Once again, another negative has come forward. The wiring loom was cut and tucked above the arches which I thought was ideal when I bought the car. But on close inspection the wiring was cut, with a number of plugs removed. So with a bit of head scratching, me and my friend realised whats happened so I think the plan of action will be to remove the wiring from my 13 and replace it with the wiring in the PS, oh and ill have to rewire my digital climate control as theres no way thats going!! :cry:

Just like I said at the start, it seems to be 1 step forward and 5 back at the moment, and testing self why I decided to switch shells but my image of what this car will be when done is whats slowly keeping me on track and ploughing through a number of small problems. All will be sorted, and no doubt many more problems will arise in the near future :thumbs::cry:

Anyway, last picture for tonight that I took when I was disassembling a part off my old 13;

A very sorry Onevia, but I still believe it has great potential and I will try my hardest to make sure it reaches that and most importantly it makes me smiles when I drive it whenever its complete :)
