Keeve's Lowstyle S13

Hello hi.

19093051_1414326001946311_2972618069890015838_o.jpg

After thinking about reshelling to onevia or importing a PS me and my mate put in work (mainly him) and its back. Getting back out in it felt fucking fantastic. Nothing was wonky, drove like nothing had ever happened. Will do a proper update soon but til then heres some raw footage from Golspie in the Highlands. Extended raw footage including me being shite as its been requested rather than just all my best runs.

Track was amazing, corkscrew was so awesome having the car point down, then up, then down. - Track was really strict about dirt drops so I had to be quite tame in bits such as pre-corkscrew.

That track looks so rad

After watching the footage I was going to say that the corners look a touch far apart to be taking an inside line and trying to link them, so an outside line around them would give you the extra speed to link them, but the dirt drop sensitivity explains that.

I'm going to call you out on the entries though, where's the snappiness/aggression gone? I know you can do better :p

Looking at how the front end was reacting mid corner on some of the runs i was thinking something was wearing out (bushings? clutch slipping?), or maybe it's time for some stiffer front springs?

Repair looks tops too. Well done for having the balls to keep it factory metal

Decided I'm not going to go into detail on the damage and the repairing of the car. Door and Glass needed replaced. The rear 1/4 behind the door needed pulled out and so did the sill. Was easier to just cut the sill out and replace as its only £26 for a replacement K11 sill that fits perfectly with a bit of hammering.

Most gutting thing to be damaged however.
IMG_7441.jpg

As part of the impact the wheel moved and dented the LCA. At first i was majorly worried about this til I found the nick of the bushes.
IMG_7781.jpg

IMG_7785.jpg

Picked up some DW polybushes from the previous owner. The LCA ones had swollen though so i had to get creative with the Stanley.

IMG_7773.jpg

Got the K11 sill in place after flattening it out.
IMG_7841.jpg

IMG_7842.jpg

So after doing the Polybushes I really needed an alignment but I didn't have time to get it anywhere to be lasered. So I ended up making a couple of toe plates and winging it. Tried to put around 0'05" toe onto it using a calculator i found online.

IMG_7848.jpg

Skimmed a bit of filler to smooth out the pulling of the rear 1/4.

IMG_7854.jpg

Glass back in. 3am job the night before Golspie and then up again early doors to get the skirts and bumpers etc back on and it made it to Golspie.

So with bugger all sleep I was considering not driving and just getting the crack with everyone that had driven up but ended up feeling great when I got there so forked out and paid to get on track. Even if it was just to find out everything was straight.

Very glad I went out. Track was absolutely amazing and the car drove spot on which put my mind at ease.

I had two issues on the day. Both minor as fuck.

Dropped a wheel (which had some pretty savage consequences from the organisers) by accident coming off drift at the finish line and absolutely nailed the kouki spat on the Drivers side.

IMG_7862.jpg

Then slightly more serious, the new Stainless manifold started to melt the hose I was using for the oil catch can! If that had gone through that would have been a mild issue...

IMG_7870.jpg

Yeah apart from that the car was absolutely spot on. Apart from the interior being covered in dust and looking like shit on the NS.

Got it back to my Painter/Panel beater in one piece which he was over the moon about.

IMG_7886.jpg

and I also brought home some new skid wheels.

Next up is getting painted by Dan, then GarageFuckHouse Street Legal.

Yeah its a Kart track so thats why theres big long straights, but yeah I was just trying to stop from dropping wheels as 4 and you were sent home. A lot of people were manji'ing the straights so when i realised this it felt good I was linking them, even if I did use handbrake but it seems some of the top guys were using handbrake too.

So if you watch the first 2 clips, start of the day I was throwing it in quite well (in my opinion) and I loved it. Then they slowly get worse. Only thing I can think of is my arms were dead so quickly from dealing with seized rear arms. If it wasn't down to that then it was just laziness and I am a bit gutted I got worse as the day got on...

Front end, I'm kind of convinced that the Toe is out of whack. I forgot to check it after the crash and since the wing was dented I can bet the arm took a fair whack also. I didn't have time to bolt check the front either so it could be something coming loose. Springs up front are 10kg, rear is 7kg. (cause of weird HSD Odd numbers). LCA's have new superpro in them last year, tension rods are hardrace. Can't think of any other bushes up front. Clutch was also new with the SR swap.

Cheers dude. I'm glad I stuck with metal too. Looks way better.

Yeah looking at it again it looks like you're fading, but your line improves with more track time though so focus on that dude. I would totally put money on the rear toe being out of whack too as it snaps straight way quicker when you get off throttle than it used to

Coming out of the corkscrew I couldn't help but find myself wanting you to cut the apex later / then more throttle / shallow up on exit to extend the rear clip further down the track then do the old yolo-shift (clutch in, throttle flat to the boards, upshift, clutch out) up to 3rd on the switch, hang on to the throttle as long as possible, then jump on the handbrake and footbrake and down shift for the final corner to link it in one.

Only thing is the bank on the LHS when doing the yolo-shift (if it grips up you're fucked) and the track kinking to the right drops down the room

Yeah mate it was snapping a bit more but thats what I was hoping to achieve from adding the toe in. That and a bit more grip to get my speed up. When I'm driving without dead arms on a wider track i'm hoping I can get the super snappy style I've been trying for. Going to reduce castor a bit also.

There definitely was a "Perfect" line for getting through it but I was just happy to be chucking it about having fun, wasn't really paying too much attention to my line near the end. - I did give 3rd a shot a couple times but just didn't have the momentum for it. Willie rose was gripping through the corkscrew and giving it one big flick down the straight into the bottom corner which was ace to watch.

Cheers mate, it's pretty much exactly how I want it for now (after paint). Ideally I'd want it down another 5-10mm up front but I don't have time to notch the front chassis rails with working in London 90% of the time.

Why do you need to notch it dude? No driveshaft or arms to get in the way? never heard of it being done before or maybe im just being oblivious to it...

Love how this car has come together! More updates guy!
Thanks mate, Should have an update in the next few weeks with Street Legal round the corner.

My tyre really doesn't have much clearance at the top where the upper chassis arm is. This is the only picture I have where you can really see it. I'm running 10kg springs up front but going any lower and I'll be hitting it more often than I do just now.

Golspie was the shit...think i got my first warning for dirt dropping in like 2 mins of going on track.....D. dont think some people realise how close the track is to the sea...lol.

though for being out both days.....i only got 3 pictures of my car...and not one over the jump even though i managed the whole 2 hour session...pissed off at that tbh.

Yeah Golspie was fucking so good. I just wish that the back corner before going into the chicane had an extra foot or so on it. I had to kinda go low angle to keep it linked without a Manji. I've seen some pictures before where the sea was in the background and it looked sick. Unfortunately after half the track washing away a couple years ago thats where the big bank came from. Before used to be epic for photos.

Well looks like Photobucket has killed half this thread...

I've done a couple of on board edits for GarageFuckHouse's Street Legal event. Had a stressful as fuck day the Friday night trying to get the car painted and then down before the gates closed at 12 so I could hang out and get a good sleep in my mates camper the night before. Had a terrible sleep and was fucked the next day. Few times my driving was shocking through lack of concentration but battled through it and qualified in 14th. Top half of the 32 so I'm stoked with that. Left My GoPro in the van for practice and couldn't really come off and was just shit at remembering to turn it on.

Open pit on the Saturday night was very last minute, to the point me and a few others from A group pretty much sprinted from where we were to the cars to get a brief on the start line and then sent out. Didn't realize til watching back the footage I was in shorts haha. Was throwing it in and had a few hairy moments with spun cars so decided to just call it and get pished. - Got FAR too pished. Was pretty much ded on the Sunday but still managed to win my first battle but then get put out by Callum Marshall in his 1JZ E36. Mainly because i couldnt get off the line and get the power down in the wet, then he had a 7-3 advantage so i tried to chuck it in a bit faster in the wet and ended up having to abort or hit the bund. This meant I ended up in 12th place overall which i'm over the moon with.

So here is my lead against Lewis Hayler (I didn't hit record for my chase unfortunately) and both of my top 16 battles.

Here is the two 5 minute open Pit sessions I did into a short edit removing when i'm not drifting, yellow flags and one shit initiation. Pretty happy with the consistency but my lines were all over the place as i was trying to keep it a bit canny for STL in a couple weeks.

Right so don't really have much car-wise to update but will go through what I got...

Remembered during my running issues I got some BKR6 plugs to replace the iridiums to see if that was the problem and forgot to replace with 7's again when I got it running so swapped out spark plugs and did a compression test whilst i was at it. Well happy with this! Seems a nice healthy SR.

So me n my mate had like 2 days to paint the motor so pulled it outside to get the paint booth out and inflated.

IMG_8220.JPG

Fair stint to early in the morning and fucked it by not having useable primer. Had to try and get shit done all the next day before Dan had to work.

IMG_8222.JPG

Next day, 3 hours late we got stuck into the car, primered shit that needed primer.

IMG_8235.JPG

Into the booth and painted.

Colour match seems pretty legit. Didn't have time to flatten back or anything and dan was already 2 hours late for work. Had to throw it together myself and then rush down to Driftland to make the Gate curfew for camping.

IMG_8247.JPG

First dual carriageway onto the A9 put my foot down to get past some 50mph'ers and the car starts misfiring and dies. Start shitting myself thinking "If this isn't just a boost hose i'm FUCKED.

Pop the bonnet. Job done.

IMG_8248.JPG

Made up a couple Door numbers for myself and Freddie and put them in the positions you see em on japan open days. I also had to re-tint my rear 1/4 window with the mirror chrome stuff in the pit and did a bollocks job of it.

IMG_8257.JPG

Also after going through the 215/45's I had on my 9.5's I swapped to the 10j's. Can't wait to get these silver.

IMG_8263.JPG

Thats pretty much it for now. Back home in a week for preparation for STL. Got a couple exterior parts to paint and fit. Both I'm very excited about. Still need a non-burst NS Wing which i'm struggling to get a hold of. Hopefully get the car cut back and polished too. Still hasn't been done since paint over a year ago!

Thank to all the Togs that were there. Connor, Justin, Matt, Rebecca, Martin - Anyone else I've missed photos from.

This photo is the only thing showing my near miss with Freddie. Finally getting a swing of the layout I was up beside Freddies rear wheel as we were coming across the line then I thought "Freddie can't come off drift til i move." but I was too deep to lift off. Ended up having to throw on more angle to let him come off drift but sent myself on a danger line off the track. Luckily a 4 wheel lockup and Superstyle Knuckles saved me from going off track haha. Twitchy bum moment for sure.
