Mercedes C230 Kompressor

Looks like it was possibly designed with this in mind, big coincidence, thought the manifold was an odd shape when I got it.

I really dont want to sell the car tbh, but kinda need to. Got a spare engine/box/charger now too.

Went to the DWYB on the 27th and it was once again amazing, cant get over how much of a weapon it is as a drift car, and 101% reliable too.

Even my Mrs is refusing to let me sell it now as it was so good, but fuck it, when do I ever listen, its going, so buy it if you want it, 1700quid no offers...

Lol, I know you'll cunt me off as it's a daily, but looking at your drift pics, you're in dire need of a bucket seat :)

You taking the piss? Read the thread, its got about 2 grands worth (when new) of mega tight high sided carbon and kevlar bucket seats out of an Escort WRC.

Im 6 foot, seats are bolted mega low, and no harness would hold you in better than these seats do, hold me in more than the Suzukas and 5 points in the RX.

It has, been properly awesome, couldnt ask for more, so im gutted it gotta go really.

Got another one like this but standard and auto and on LPG im using as a daily, and ill jus concentrate on finishing the RX7 asap.

Some awesome pics from the 27th appeared in the post today, but this sequence sums it up...

SOLD! :( :( :(

Was sad to see it go, even sadder to hear the supercharger whine streets away as it was driven off, such a gool car.

New owner is on here so hopefully these wont be the last pics of it ripping it up at the Pod we will see!

just read the thread. good work!

but did you ever think fitting water injection post maf?
I know mafs can be funny buggers.

What was the idea of running turbo with charger? Would they have to run the same boost? I guess not?

Agree with you on people on the net knowing JACK, got told std charger good for 210bhp max and std internals are weak.

I can't beleive just simplyfying the pcv system, induction kit, and removing restrictions free'd her up that much!

The proofs in the pics, whens the last time you see a smoke machine like that if it only had stock powers, lol.
And on the road I could keep up with or pull away from mates with cars with way more power than a wanky C230K has as standard, which was nice.

MAF is blow thru, only advantage of WI is cooling the supercharger, so no way of doing it after the MAF and before the SC. It was just a pikey setup, if I had spent any time/money I couldve got it working just fine.

Turbo and s/c never run at same boost compounded, thats literally impossible.

One thing I reckon would really help would be a big front mount, but without removing the headlamps permanently, and/or some serious metal cutting (in places that you really shouldnt) it aint happening, hence the WI.

TBH, I'd rather have a 2.5TD one. A big turbo, uprated pump, exhaust, and intercooler, and they can do 400odd bhp on standard internals, fuck, even standard manifolds. One in N.I. like it.

hmmm loada guys run it on the inlet mani on turbo setups. to decrease intake temps. but use devils own kits (pricey)
then advance timing i think.

i won't do it. but just curious, how does charger and blower setup work... same as individual setups?

And do they ever get more power by JUST injecting it on the inlet though? No. Helps decrease the chance of det only, and thats not an issue on a Merc, as there's no easy way of bumping up the boost or timing, and IMO you could do that without needing the WI.
Ive done it both ways on cars in the past, and performance-wise pre-compressor is the only way IMO.
Devils Own kit isnt expensive, cheap for what it is, works well.

Countless ways to run a turbo and a blower. Basically there's hundreds of gay ways people rant on about on the internet that they've never really tried and never work that well, or theres the way the very few sucessful competition setups work which is turbo blowing in to supercharger blowing in to engine. No switching off or bypassing of s/c once turbo is on boost. Lot more complex than that, but thats the basics.

Im realy considering a 230 engine if/when the 2.6 in my 190 lets go, from the looks of it they realy do the job well.
Any idea whats going on with this since you got shot of it?

Church-
I had a quick scan, all 'ass dyno' figures I spotted, and its onlya lightly modified Polo GTI, so I'd be surprised. Money would be better spent on a good intercooler, and if he already has one on that Polo and is still claiming that performance difference on such a lightly tuned car he's either full of shat or somethings up.
Go for it if you want, but I've owned 6 or so cars with post compressor water injection, and not one of them noticable increased performance without me also increasing the boost beyond where it was previously safe as it just lowered the chance of det, its a safety thing.
Only performance increases I've noticed while adjusting nothing else was pre-compressor.
Dont understand the strong alternator charge comment.
And yeah more work, but do-able if you know what you're doing.

Flump- Seen a few 190s with the swap, sounds a great idea to me. Never seen the car since it was sold. Guy was from Manc, bought it off here, said he'd done DWYB days and was going to use it again for them and a daily, and never seen it since.
