Minty.Fresh JZX100 Chaser

Look at phils jzx110 , shows how we got around geometry , i think there the same underneath

This. They are the same other than the kink in the tention rods. Iv done a front hub conversion on my JZS160 to JZX front hubs, got them all measured up to cut and weld.. You'll see how this corrects the angle of the upper wishbone and gives x amount of camber.

Please tell us your driving this today?

Plates are in my kitchen.. Just waiting for Norman to show up with my wheels ;)

Going to go fit the HSDs though. Since its like roasting outside. You out my direction at all this weekend? TK's shooting it tomorrow.

good shout with the wheels, they will look decent on your car

tomorrow I'll be out but I need to sort out the look again, having the same problem blowing fuses :(

YUP. Its on the road. Feels amazing to drive this again! Been running around like a mad man trying to get it all sorted etc.

Friday I took the day off work to play with the car and basically have a day of driving it lol.
I changed out the front coilovers from the KTS ones to the new HSD's (Got decent photo's somewhere) and to my surprise, it actually raised the car! Not that I was that worried as it wasnt at all usable at that height (Not at the moment anyway)
I decided to leave the rears and see how it felt.. conclusion was with 5 people in it.. the exhaust just drags along the ground. So going to need to raise that up.

I then decided to fit the HSD's to the rear on Saturday and then went back out with 5 people. It was alot firmer on the back and had very little issue to be honest. I cant get over just how easy it is to change suspension on a JZX.. it took almost 10 minutes to change them out.. was nice!

THEN in the height of it, a few of us went for chinese.. and on route home my best mate (Mr D) fell off his board and ended up in a seizure with shed loads of blood coming out his ear.. was scary shit. Few ambulances showed and the cops and they got him to A&E.. Fractured skull, bleeding frontal lobe and various other parts bleeding in the brain.. :/ So went in to see him last night and he should be ok but seriously scared the crap outa us.

Here's some pics anyway. I'll need to do a propar post up when i get time.

Might get my wheels back today. That would be cool but not too worried tbh. Funny how one moment the car is number 1 priority.. then bang.. who cares.

that's savage news about d. hope hes out of hospital soon man.

sweet, so HSD's mean that you can rock lows better? the amount of sparks flying the other night was funny, especially the taxi driver who asked if you knew shit was scrapping. are you still going to get a custom exhaust for it?

Yeah 100%. Hangs far too low and sounds like shit. No money now though :/

Hey I put up a thread over on Daiko for D. Just so he can read peoples' wishes when he gets out of hospital.

Yeah taxi driver was pretty funny! :p

Well I got my wheels last night.. I wasnt going to fit them but considering the front wheel is buckled and the rear two are almost spent.. I figured Id make an effort to give it a go..

I started last night about 7pm.. Thinking .. 'It'll only take 10 minutes or so..' Well I got done last night around 11pm in the end. Around about 7.10pm last night all I could think about was.. "I should just go drive to the hat.. I should just go drive to the hat.." however with needing to be up at 4am for work I figured it was a bit late in the day.

The wheels as mentioned earlier at 18x9 ET23 and 18x10 ET23. They have 225/40/18's all round as I couldnt get 215's at the time.
I got the old trolly jack handle out and started to work on the rear archs.

archvm.jpg

Went for a drive and it still scrapped.. so; decided to raise it up a fraction on the back.
Went out for another drive and it seemed ok..
Went to fit the fronts..

frontxuc.jpg

Rolled the archs some more and sat it down.. was getting about 12% of a turn ¬___¬.. SO.. jacked it back up and raised the front. Wasnt enough so more rolling and raised it again.. Went to drive it 'seeeemed ok'.. This about 10pm.

busback.jpg

Then when I tried to turn it caught my inner liner on the front driver side which sits behind the FMIC pipe and kinda held the bumper in place.. plus i heard a scrape on the rear STILL! SO back up it went.. raised it some more and ripped out all the plastic shit and by 11pm I could drive it fine.. No rubs / scapes / bangs or anything..

My plan with the car is to get it as low as possible while keeping it functional for drifting. So alot of work (Similar to Phil's 110) will need to be carried out when time and money is there for the taking. Kinda gutted I had to raise it but hey, I like the wheels so meh. I think what the actual problem was the top of the tyre (tread) was hitting the top of the rear inner arch roof if that makes sence.. I think If I bring it down its going to need stiffer springs to keep the height consistant and to save from squat.

Then it rained.. I went to bed. Drove to work this morning and it drove like a dream, no noise's knocks or bangs, full lock and no more wobbily steering wheel and legal tread levels.. so the functional part I have, I just need to get it lower.

I would like to put a MASSSSSSSSSSSSSIVE thanks to my girlfriend Soph, who came down last night all ready for showers and an early night; to me sitting bashing my archs with a metal pole.. she ended up doing just as much work as me, helped change wheels do the usual pit bitch stuff and basically just by being awesome. Oh and for not going mad for ANOTHER late night! >_<

Right.. back to work.

stop bloody raising it mint!!!! hammer yourself some clearance instead. when fitting 18's you should never be able to see tyre!!!

I know :( but.. it was late, I was tired, my head's been up my arse with personal stuff, old man was shouting across the street "FUCKING RAISE IT!" and it started raining.. so I just gave up for the time being lol.

I just cant believe how little space there is in this arch.. Ryan (Who used to own Phil's 110) and Dunkz told me before my 100 turned up, and id read online about it too but didnt think it was this shit!

So your willing to ruin your perfectly good arches for "cool" points..... The car looks great as it is bud. I bet 99% of people would agree, going lower will just make it drag its arse everywhere and take the enjoyment out of driving it hard or the road.

Super low cars should stick to hardparking. I'm all for functional low.

WTF happened Rubix, you used to be cool.

I can see where your comiing from though, there is a piont at which to go lower you NEED to tub the arches and beat things out of their factory shape to fit but i think Mint's aiming for as low as he can get whilst still being able to drive it hard.

its a drift car at the end of the day so low = cool points :D

Yeah I see what your saying Mr Cube; however who ever owned this in Japan attacked the archs before me. All 4 were rolled the front 2 being worse, the pass side arch was already flaked off and the rear had been painted over, only last night did I actually notice the lip and that it was already ghetto rolled before I got to it :/

My original plan was to either make my own fiberglass front wings or buy some 30+mm D-Max ones to cure the front. As for the rear I always liked the idea of cutting the inner skin and having a big flare welded and smoothed in if that makes sence.. again this would be when money allowed. I wish the arch's were perfect and if they were I would of waited to borrow an arch roller from Mr Hat. However they just looked like they had been rolled and flared a tad for the 17x9's which it didnt really need if you see what I mean...

Regarding its height its not so much to do with cool points but more so to do with how I like to see drift cars. Drifting to me anyway has always been about a visual / image thing. Lets face it, Drifting is like ice skating. To me anyway, cars only look their best when they are as low as possible. I have always said this, Infact when we we're at NDC and Dunkz etc was having digs at me for me wheels/height being too low or something I snapped at him and tried to explain the above but I was more pissed off so dont think I got my point across. I hate seeing arch gap, I always have done.. I would far prefer to have the car as low as possible than just a little bit low.. thats personal preference. Which is why I was bugged that I had to raise it up, IMO it looks pretty daft having big wheels and arch gap. For example I was looking at pictures at that Jumanji night and couldnt believe the arch gap on that supra... That is not for me.

Im not that worried about what anyone thinks man, It was as low as I could get it yesterday before I fitted these wheels and I was drifting the car with 5 people in it. The exhaust was the only thing that scraped, because it hangs stupid low!

To me it took no enjoyment out of driving, I always enjoyed it when people would look on in amazement as I just 'hovered' around in the s15.. :) I dont plan on changing my opinion any time soon.. Its also why Struggles s14 looks 100x better than pretty much most s14's iv seen.. because he put work in, to get it that low and it still functions..

etc etc etc.. I could go on and on lol. Either or, It will remain this height until I can afford to / have time to; make it as low as I can go. :)

All those cars are 100% impractical for the real world/road though mint. They look impressive, but I would rather be able to go out, smoke some chump in a flash car on the road without loosing my exhaust, arches, pain, body panels while I do it. Maybe thats why I don't do super low? I enjoy my car as more than just a drift car....either that or I must not be hardcore enough

Just know that in almost everyone's eyes who will look at this thread, the Chasers current ride height is fucking SPOT ON! You don't really have arch gap, you can see some tyre, if your tyres are ultra low profile, go up one and see if it makes any sort of "gap" look less so.
