Well I got my wheels last night.. I wasnt going to fit them but considering the front wheel is buckled and the rear two are almost spent.. I figured Id make an effort to give it a go..
I started last night about 7pm.. Thinking .. 'It'll only take 10 minutes or so..' Well I got done last night around 11pm in the end. Around about 7.10pm last night all I could think about was.. "I should just go drive to the hat.. I should just go drive to the hat.." however with needing to be up at 4am for work I figured it was a bit late in the day.
The wheels as mentioned earlier at 18x9 ET23 and 18x10 ET23. They have 225/40/18's all round as I couldnt get 215's at the time.
I got the old trolly jack handle out and started to work on the rear archs.
Went for a drive and it still scrapped.. so; decided to raise it up a fraction on the back.
Went out for another drive and it seemed ok..
Went to fit the fronts..
Rolled the archs some more and sat it down.. was getting about 12% of a turn ¬___¬.. SO.. jacked it back up and raised the front. Wasnt enough so more rolling and raised it again.. Went to drive it 'seeeemed ok'.. This about 10pm.
Then when I tried to turn it caught my inner liner on the front driver side which sits behind the FMIC pipe and kinda held the bumper in place.. plus i heard a scrape on the rear STILL! SO back up it went.. raised it some more and ripped out all the plastic shit and by 11pm I could drive it fine.. No rubs / scapes / bangs or anything..
My plan with the car is to get it as low as possible while keeping it functional for drifting. So alot of work (Similar to Phil's 110) will need to be carried out when time and money is there for the taking. Kinda gutted I had to raise it but hey, I like the wheels so meh. I think what the actual problem was the top of the tyre (tread) was hitting the top of the rear inner arch roof if that makes sence.. I think If I bring it down its going to need stiffer springs to keep the height consistant and to save from squat.
Then it rained.. I went to bed. Drove to work this morning and it drove like a dream, no noise's knocks or bangs, full lock and no more wobbily steering wheel and legal tread levels.. so the functional part I have, I just need to get it lower.
I would like to put a MASSSSSSSSSSSSSIVE thanks to my girlfriend Soph, who came down last night all ready for showers and an early night; to me sitting bashing my archs with a metal pole.. she ended up doing just as much work as me, helped change wheels do the usual pit bitch stuff and basically just by being awesome. Oh and for not going mad for ANOTHER late night! >_<
Right.. back to work.
