99% of taliban communication is via long/short range radio's and internet. It would have plenty of potential to fuck them completely. It's the mentality of "what do they know, they live in caves" that got so many soldiers killed and maimed in the early years of the war. The people of Afganistan, Iraq, Iran, etc are a warring people and so many soldiers of these factions have been fighting longer than many of our soldiers have been on the face of the earth.

Exactly right, thats what makes it pointless in most situations. Just like suggesting we nuke the shit out of anyone who crosses us, it's just not a practical solution on any level.

People on here keep calling it a bomb, and it isn't. I think this reflects a bias on the part of several posters on here rather than any bias at the BBC or a huge international conspiracy to declare war on the Martians.

OK, So semi-serious comment time due now that they have found water on the moon!

Lets all for one moment imagine that earth is this big -> . <-

and the next nearest object we can see is the moon which is here -> <-
But! its smaller than earth so we cant see it here on :dw:

Then we have Mars , Jupiter and Saturn.

With Jupiter being the largest of those , and, its distance from earth shall we say it's this big -> :: <- :eek:

Then we have Saturn, Uranus (Stav and Lightning, stop giggling at the back of the room, we know what your thinking!;)) and Neptune which due to their size we shall say they are this big -> . <-

Then we have Pluto! Due to its size and distance its this big -> <- i.e too small to be seen on DW.:wack:

SO that takes us out of earths solar system. :eek: :eek:


Now lets compress that a little if I may,;) our Solar system resides in a Galaxy known as the Milky Way, named after a chocolate bar due to the similarity of the colour of the inside of aforementioned chocolate bar. ;):wack:

So here's our Galaxy -> . <- and our sun is just one star of, according to wikipedia, 100 - 400 BILLION stars each with their own solar system most likely. :eek:

Now our galaxy is also surrounded by satellite type galaxies, similar to the way the moon orbits earth. Each of which probably contains as many stars as the milky way does i.e 100's of millions of suns similar to our own each with its own solar system. :nod:

Then we move to other galaxies near to ours then we are getting into Billions of suns, not that 100's of millions isn't already Billions but im trying to make a point! :wack: :D

Each sun still having its own solar system like ours. :nod:

Now lets go out a little further into space! Its where I spent most of the 90's! :wack:

having said all that wonderful stuff an having "trillions of stars and solar systems", why do people think that the only other place life can exist is mars?
 
However...the creation of intelligent life is a result of millions of tiny little coincidences that if they dont take place in a certain order result in nothing or people like jade goody.

Are there other life forms out there....yes i would say so.

Are they intelligent enough to be self aware... I would say unlikely.

Because scientific study reveals that Mars was just like earth a few million years ago. Rivers, Lakes, Atmosphere, Life - etc. There is still life on Mars, although we are told that it’s only micro bacteria.

Anybody who says that there isn't other intelligent live in the universe is going to get a MASSIVE shock in the next couple of years. It's better that you start preparing yourself now, otherwise you may have trouble dealing with the planet shattering change that's coming.

The "truth" is that the human race isn't awaiting proof intelligent life on other planets (we already have that) we are waiting for disclosure of these facts from our governments.

Our society is based on a capitalist model and capitalism has need to expand, industrialise and consume resources. Our planet has run out of space and is quickly running out of resources. Humanity is actually completely unique within our food chain because we have the ability to control our food source. Sharks, Lions, Squirrels, Rats etc etc can only expand their population to the limit of the available resources (food) Humans are animals too, but we have the ability to create food for ourselves, plant crops, rear cattle, process goods and so on. Hence why our population has grown so massively over the last 50 years. In the 1950’s the world population was estimated at around 3 billion people 60 years later we are at over 6 billion with a growth rate of over 77 million people per year. Every year that’s 77 million more mouths to employ, feed and shelter. By 2050 (40 years time, IE: if your 25 now, you’ll be 65) the global population will be in excess of 10 billion people.

This isn’t new news and our governments are well aware of it.

There are three choices.

1) A massive global conflict (WW3) which wipes out vast swathes of population.
2) Population Expansion – extra planetary
3) Mass sterilisation

Wars make LOTS of money. However taxation (both income and resource tax) will make more. An expanding population goes hand in hand with a greater need for credit. Putting people into “debt bondage” is a great money making proposition because it’s a triple win. Your making money of the individual by charging them interest and then motivating them to work to pay off the debt. A motivated (read scared) person works harder and is more compliant in their job because they don’t want to lose it. This boosts industry and makes it more profitable which is taxable, the person gets paid an income which is also taxable.

Basically, more people earning more money, buying more stuff, getting into more debt, getting taxed more should ultimately make more money than reducing the population.

So in a nutshell, we have to expand beyond the planet because the initial investment will be significantly outweighed by the money made by massive population growth. Also, “if” we have actually located potential habitable environments that have an existing, developed and long standing carbon based eco system – there will be oil, gas and other carbon fuels there too.

Even assuming aliens have FTL travel why would they come here? Our solar system is nothing special. We're nothing special. I think you guys just really really badly want there to be aliens.

Does anyone really think that a government that is so usless it allows it's own expenses fiddles to get published could possibly be competant enough to keep any ind of alien conspiracy secret?
