norfolk arena drift team membership

my idea was to have a comp style practice day so drivers can get the feel for the BDC /EDC,

This is a good idea. Buzzing round on a practice day is good, but having to get near clipping points with just warm up run is a different feeling altogether.

Knowing that this run counts and having to adjust your line to get near a clip will teach you stuff.

All we need is someone good enough to judge (not me, I'm rubbish) and for everyone who takes part to realise that it's just a laugh. Explain simple rules before we start (closest to the clip without hitting it yet drifting the whole course?), exclude anyone with a BDC licence from actually winning and hold it right after lunch, while we still have tyres left :D

Also there is no need for this to cost even a penny more than a standard practice day! Run the morning as normal, give everyone who want to have a go three runs (practice then best of the next two counts - like BDC), then run the rest of the afternoon as normal.

Trophies only cost a fiver or something. Give me enough notice and I'll donate a trophy to be given to the first winner :D
Maybe I'll even get one of my old anodised cusco suspension top mounts* engraved "best newbie" for the person who does the best on their first Norfolk visit.

*much more scabby than it sounds - they are horrible, bent and very corroded.

Awsome idear i wanna compete next year if i can get the car and me up to spec so this would benifet me a great deal.

for once ive started something good in this thread.

this is all sounding very promiseing, the thrills from practice skidding are having less effect, im used to racing motorbikes and want that thrill back, but my knees cant take it anymore so drifting it is for kicks.

i for one am in there like swim wear for comp and twin practice. it will be very interesting and close with me and mitsi matt in identical bmw's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAPTAIN-
ive got a pro welder who will build me a cage for peanuts...bonus
im getting a pay rise at xmas, while my work load is going down then too so ill need something to fill my time. i just need the skills to come on enough.

cheers for your advise so far.

yep i would love twin battle comp! the essex arena days have brought my driving on so much. would be awsometown at norfolk as i love the track layout.

we seem to be gettin quite a few good drivers there now a comp will only improve things.

Oh just to add will also be nice if it is done as a proper DRIFT comp not fookin driftapeiceofcrap&smashittofuck style affair!

that wasnt how you described nato 1 when you sold me it!!!!!! i remember, 1 careful owner, never raced or rallyed!!:D

norfolk has never had the interest from the banger lads so things stay sensible. the senny was the worst car there but thats getting scrapped soon.

ill judge if needs be!!!

malc ya was spot on when we (tho you really) decided to push/promote
norfolk arena and the correct attitude to drifting.

FOZZY:worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy:(i proud to say my best mate:nod::wave::thumbs:)

Yeah, thats why I was going for "close to, but not hitting" the clipping point.

Damage sucks. This should be something that's fun for everyone - including the guys with the Mustang and 350Z. And that guy in the Elise, if he wants to have another go.

I also plan to try and get a bdc licence for next season :dw:

Yes i like the idea of the comp. Captain Muppet is very right it is totally different when you have to hit clipping points and you get only one practice round this is what some of us need. Twinning especially.

MALX deffinetly organise it our level at Norfolk has progressed and there are a few regulars that need some chalange and are ready for it to take them to the next level.

Tom i am up for a drift train with you and matt.

what will happen about ams like me?

everyone has to start somewhere, now youve been in the frying pan jump into the fire as they say. if you can manage a drift the comp will just make you better faster, by the sound of it the comp wont last too long then back to normal practice, the comp cars will need tyre changes so non comp cars can show us how its really done.

dont scrap the senny!!!! i wish it would live on, check the pics on pages 10/11/12 of this thread, i crashed it at essex big time (its 6-8inches shorter now!!!!) but ive got a new drifty toy 320 bmw so im killing the senny at essex this weekend, ive got too many cars at work and am getting told off for it, sennys got to go.

its for sale if anyones mad enough..... PM me for details :wack::wack:

emil... im sure malx will tag on the train too. 4 car train FTW. anyone else want to tag along????
