Thanks guys

Bit of an update from last time. Got the BN front painted

Made an oil cooler duct that fits to the bumper

Then fitted water sprayers to the radiator and oil cooler

Because it just uses the factory windscreen washer bottle & pump (that i relocated to the boot) I added in a manual switch using an old 12v feed from when it used to run an external fuel pump. Then spliced the windscreen washer water line up the front and added a couple of manual shut off valves, ran hosing to the front and hid the sprayers behind the radiator support uprights, terminating it with a single sprayer for the oil cooler. Made up a little clip that bolts to the intercooler hose clamp for the oil cooler sprayer.

Then went to our summer matsuri which shared the track with D1NZ

Cooling was fixed thanks to the new alloy radiator, never got over 82deg all day. Used the sprayers just because I could.

Was using 2 different brands of tyres now Horace have been bought out by Nankang - Hifly's and Kapsen's. Hifly's were the same as Hoeys, chunked a little but reasonable grip and smoked well. Kapsen's gripped a little less, smoked less and wore perfect and way slower - could get 2x sessions out of a pair as opposed to 1 out of the Hifly's.

A mate smashed off his winged sump and i collected a chunk of it with the BN sadly, so a little repair work needed there.

Am now planning the respray finally. It needs a compression dent and front guards fixed, along with a little rust around the sunroof. About a third of the car has already been resprayed so fingers crossed my painter won't sting me too much.

Have fixed the damage to the BN front and sideskirts with a fibreglass repair kit a mate got me. Surprisingly easy to work with and beefed up the lower lip while i was at it.

Have some loose plans for the interior as well: have bought some S15 rear seats to match the S15 front's it uses when on the road and am looking at dying the cloth on the door trims, glove box and headlining to suit the S15 seats. Finding factory plastic S13 boot trim panels is near on impossible so I'm going to make my own out of some bathroom paneling. Also looking at canards and sideskirt extensions for the Vertex road kit but will see how it looks after the respray

Baby is due 2nd of June so getting it resprayed and road legal by then is the goal, then drive it down to the Beginner/Amateur days i tutor at and take a pair of half-worns down and go for a sneaky skid to get my fix.

Cheers dude, funny to think it's done almost 7 years and 38 events of abuse and still going strong

Probably earned a tidy up :P

I've got a couple of mates from "the mount" and another from the other side in Rotorua. Should I ever actually get around to visiting NZ I'll keep an eye out for this :)

It's a long trip! I have a few English mates who have emigrated and loath any trip home. Normally around 26hrs of flying time!

I probably know your mates, Mt Maunganui is pretty small

The reason they loath the trip is cos it sucks balls here!!

Do you know the Kiwi German, Killian? Or his tubby half pom mate Hayden?

Bit of an update

Boot panels have been made.

Just need to add grommets and a grab handle cutout for the bottom panel and mount subwoofer

But most importantly panel & paint has happened too:

Painter missed the roof wing, also the drivers side headlight has moisture in it so a bit of work needed there to get it water tight again.

Spent yesterday's free hour during junior's nap time to dye the hood/roof lining, sunroof cover and edging from grey to satin black. Will suit the S15 sets better, but still have the visors to do.

After some opinions on a durable way to recolour interior plastics, like the interior light surround, visor clips, rear vision mirror etc? Putting on grey items doesn't really work.

Better to scuff up and hit them with a quality primer and top coat or use that plastidip shit? Will disassemble all items before paint

ughhh .. this makes me want to look for a two tone ps13 instead of a skyline. looks unreal please dont crash it lol

Thanks guys

Not going to be doing a lot of drifting anymore so it should stay fresh for a while with any luck. This has been hammered on for 7 years and near on 40 track days so it's earned a bit of a break.

It's going into semi-retirement as a Sunday car and something cool I can drive to the track when I help run events, maybe get out and do a sneaky session but that'd be the extent of it. It will be raised an inch to it's certified height, 215/45 front tyres, shimmed LSD and the interior tided with S15 seats and a few other small touches.

Have acquired a spare gearstick/stereo surround and going to have a go at hacking it up to fit my old 10.1" Tab2 tablet in it. The idea being that while on the road i'll have something better for music and videos. If the Tab2 is too big i might just try get a 7" tablet and fit it in the double DIN slot but have it removable so i can throw the hydro handle on if I'm going to jump on track for a session.

Some good mates came over and helped knock out the big jobs. The guard gap up front & alignment are going to be addressed this weekend

20160807_162553.jpg

And interior is finally back in one piece. A couple of cans of Dupli-colour vinyl dye worked a treat on turning the manky grey hoodlining, sunroof cover and sun visors a nice shade of black. Going to grab another can and do the sunroof controls & interior light to match.

Measured up the tablet and it was too big, so decided to mount it via a magnetic swivel instead.

Next project is grabbing a rivnut gun and mounting the S15 rear seats

Amazing build, done well and has served very well. Good its retired minty fresh!

Get another sbody beater for skids!

Thanks guys

Garage space restricts a 2nd car sadly. I've always had the itch to build something different but will see what the future holds

So seeing as though i've had 9 months of not entering events i had saved a bit of cash so had this put together:

I'm not after max hp. The best thing about 6 cylinder engines is the torque on offer. Most people ruin them by putting huge turbos on them, which necessitate a lot of other modifications, which also changes how the car drives. This is designed to make the good parts of the engine better, and at minimal cost.

The 3-bolt outlet on the compressor sadly doesn't bolt up to the RB elbow as the bolt spacing is slightly smaller, so will clock the compressor housing around a little further and add an S15 T28 outlet and a 90deg joiner.

Should be on in a month or so, so stay tuned for results

So have been collecting parts to make the most of the turbo.

Picked up a new Z32 AFM, braided line kit to suit the GT-RS, MLS exhaust gasket set and HKS actuator to go along with the Tomei adjustable FPR & adapter i already had tucked away. Also found a relatively cheap set of S15 480cc injectors, just need to source 2 more. A bit concerned about the coilpacks holding up but will upgrade them if they fail.

My WOF/MOT runs out around Feb/March next year so will be looking to crack into it then. In the meantime just enjoying driving it to Beginner/Amateur days, helping people learn and getting out for a small thrash and the end of the day to get my fix.

Need to plug the holes that the bolt-in cage left to stop the cabin getting fumed out. Will be doing a compression test this weekend all going to plan to check everything is ok before continuing down the turbo upgrade path
