SR Gearbox Solution ??

Lots of you have blown 3rd gear, right?

Have you had a look inside of the box? I just took my last gearbox appart last weekend and noticed, that the small bearing (on the inside of the gear wheel) was blown aswell.

As im not that much into gearboxes i thought maybe its just an issue of the bearings. because if they die, the gear wheel comes loos and also brakes - is that correct?

has anyone heard of a Z33 conversion on the RWD SR20´s? Im not shure but the 350Z gearbox seems to be strong. A friend of mine who bought the ex sumo power 350Z is running the standart Z33 box no problems all the year. And the boxes were in some different offroad car, Pathfinder and another on from 2005 on.

And in some Infinity (I think G35) with the VK50VE, 5l V8 with 400bhp and 520Nm torque.

Would be interesting to adapt this box maybe?

And some of the 300ZX guys here do a Tremec T51 Conversion, wich is out of the Viper SRT10 and mega strong. So maybe take the T51-Z32 conversion AND the Z32-S14 conversion plates and ...

... you will nearly have a trans axle lol.

i think mostly its 3rd gear.

yeah would be interesting to see what, and how your boxes broke.

my last one:

and you can see the bits from the bearing here:

the box had done less than 28k miles. I blew on a 3rd gear very smooth clutch kick.

How do you do them "very smooth clutch kicks" again ???

:D

hm maybe its just my bad english, but i if the revs are just a bit higher than the wheels are turning its a smooth clutch kick to me, if you rev it to the limiter and jump off the clutch its a hard one lol.

hard to describe, but i think you know what i mean?:wack:
