The Classic Ford magazine/Chizfab Scandinavian style Capri drift project

Shittinghell Ade, you've made a Mk3 Capri I actually like the look of, thats never been done before! The rims totally make it

Cheers mate! :D It's going to look even better when it's all tarted up and skidding too...

what wheels do you have there? First thought they were ATS but saw the picture below they were 4 spoke... They look amazing on the capri

Image Wheels ;)

RS1

why do people stick those nasty grilles on the mk3

mk3 was 80s all over! looks awesome as standard. yours looks super pimp with those wheels on!

What grille? Mk2, as on the blue one?

Looks all wrong if done half heartedly (as it so often is), but awesome as full Mk2 spec except the wings/lights/bonnet. ;)

the mk3 grill is looking good on house windows as shades, especially if you get drunk the night before, but on the front of a car its useless... all the escorts, granadas, etc looking stupid with that style :P
the mk3 is the original form of the capri, looks more aggressive then the mk2. but the grill is well needed!

It's been a while, but time for an update....

Some goodies!

And here's the engine that will be powering it:
Old skool pushrod 2.9 12v. Previously modified by Turbo Technics, and currently being rebuilt....
Its new guise will be running either a pair of T28s or a massive single turbo along with M Tech Management instead of the prehistoric TT set up!

And here's the car itself which is quite poorly at the moment, but its on the up!

Now on Chizfab's spit and ready to get blasted ASAP....

Just bought this.... Volvo 240 axle, the strongest variant, with a good 3.7:1 final drive and huge 280mm rear discs!
Now how to get it shifted 400 odd miles......

Cheers, but looks like I may have a spare pair too if we go down the single turbo route!

Some pix from today's blasting on a snowy Scottish hillside!

The whole underside and various suspect areas were all blasted back to bare metal (and sometimes thin air!) in no time. Quite refreshing to see that the chassis legs and most of the floor remained intact...

The Volvo axle also got the same treatment....

Big thanks to Chizfab and K's Recovery.

Next step... priming and welding!

Looking good mate, can't wait to get mine blasted. What color scheme are you going for now you have a blank canvas?

Always intended to go black.... and think it still will.
Still not 100% decided on what graphics/colour scheme etc though.
Still got a bit of time to think about all that though :D

Kyle of Chizfab has just updated his blog, and the Capri's build features in it.
Chizfab - Automotive Fabrication Services

A lot of fundamentals are being dealt with just now, like the new OE style replicated chassis rails to comply with BDC regs. The originals, although not fully rotten were deemed not up to scratch, and with pattern parts commanding silly money and at least a 4 month wait, replicas were made. Plus the start of an epic cage and fully reworked rear end with sunken fuel tank and coilover turrets are now about to take shape.....
