Damn you! I'm stuck around the 20k mark!

I find that on the downhill after the start/finish its better for points to straightline all the slight left/rights to build speed then throw a mad long and fast entry along the wavey wall into the long sweeper - yes/no? You come close to grazing the wall a few times but it looks and feels fantastic - especially when you 'twin' with your ghost :D

Talking of which, a really nice change from FM2 is that you seem to be able to rub walls without it throwing the car completely off line - i.e the panels seem to have some 'give' and crumple in them when you hit something - much better!

Yeah, cars seem to have proper weight so don't bounce off of things anymore. I love the feel of the cars.

I'm actually drifting the sweepers, can get about 3k through the 3 turns on a good run, then about 6k on a good run through the long corner after it. By the time I've finished that section and going into the uphill portion going into the left hander i'm on about 12k points on a good run.

Annoying thing though is that to get big points, you're not really drifting 'properly' - its like, big angle, straighten, big angle, straighten all the time, so its not fluid and stuff. Still awesome though, I guess fluidity will be better with proper cars set up for drifting, and proper power on non slicks.

Gonna pick me up an Xbox :D

Then make myself a custom wheel for the pit, eh James :D

You make the wheel ill have to fucking hurt you!!! I was always asking how you did it with the other Custom Set, Look in ur PM Box, unless u deleted them, was over a year ago, I'm CrazyDRFT ;)

I really like it, the cars have real weight and there is more grip - which is good as FM2 was a bit greasy!

Also noticed that on one of the loading screens it mentioned "team drifting" - could be interesting.

I am in the top 1% for drifting ... in the Mini

I set it downloading when I got home last night and it only got about half way through. Set it off again this morning before I left for work so should be ready when I get home.

Andy - I was just bombing the curves and doing a looooong entry from pretty much where you pass the tree on the left hand side, as you come over the crest. I found on a good run that put my on approx 10k after the long sweeper, guess I need to slow down and throw it about a bit more. Need to master the clutch button too as e-brake no longer 'clutch kicks' like it did in FM2.

Yeah very true, the E-brake doesn't work far as good as it used to, Its great for initiating, but not for keeping the drift going, The Clutch Kick can be a pain, due to having a button, but if i had the Wheel with the clutch would be alot easier.

Sounds like you have to be a bit more dexterous to drift in FM3, which isn't a bad thing!

Yes you do, In Forza 2, you could simply grab any car, Slap a load of upgrades on it and there you go, a perfect drift car, whereas in Forza 3, the performance is one thing, the control and techniques of the driver is another, therefore performance doesn't really matter, Clutch kicking is sexual.

We really need to get an Xbox LIVE Party going, The one and only Driftworks party

Add me if u wish: JeB x EvOLuTiON

I've personally found the handbrake fairly good. I'm using it about the same as I did in FM2. I used to initiate on the handbrake, then rev up the engine, then let off the handbrake to effectively dump the clutch, which still works too. Not found any problems with it in FM3 so far.

However, my Xbox has now bricked. Bollocks. I've got Shift, ODST and FM3 demo over the last 3 days, all of which I now can't play. :wack:

Ah well, its lasted me 3 and half years which isn't bad going. Time to open it up and see if I can bring it back to life.

Thoughts so far - it's bloody brilliant, graphics are amazing (making me want to buy an HD telly), handling feels nice and weighty and familiar after Forza 2. Only gripes are you have to be double jointed to brake and use the clutch at the same time (hope they have an option for the drifting bits where you can shift normally but use the clutch for kicking), and the in car view pisses me off - the fact that the driver only moves his hands a tiny bit, never takes them off to shift or use the handbrake really spoil the realism for me - so bumper cam ftw.

Can't for the full game now though...

You have to change how you hold the controller. Use your left index finger for clutch and left middle finger for brake, that way you can use both.

I don't have my wheel down here in college, so unable to test.

BTW, the demo is awesome, never really got into the drifting scene in fm2, tried, but didn't see any real point. I love it on here, was as of yesterday top 1% in both hotlap and drifting, will probably have to regain that.

Got home at lunch and I went fron 50th to 157th on drift :wack:.

So nailed a 25k run and now I'm 59th again :D
