So the SSR’s have been paid for. I just need to go pick them up.
Also some more progress has been made on the car. Now if you have read this thread so far what i say next will come as a shock. My buddy Ed has been down to help once more....... i am seriously so greatful for his help with the car. Especially considering he has exactly the same thing to do with his 14.
So once more i pulled Adams s15 outside. Next to Ed’s 14 on its new work eurolines.
We decided fuck rust. Its a boring job. We want to do something remotely interesting. So we quickly finished up the front of the sill which I didn’t get a picture of. Then set to work on the rear tub ready for overs. Now i was game for a by eye and deal with the consequences. However that was what created the problem with the front tubs. Ed, rather more intelligently, decided we were marking up what we were cutting. So he set to work with masking tape and a sharpie.
He ended up with this.
Then he picked up the grinder and set too it.
Which quickly resulted in a loosely cut hole.
Now. This cutting also revealed some nasty assed previous bodges which had resulted in some more aids, filler and car cancer. Excellent.
Which meant the tub ended up wider than we marked up just to get rid of the shit. This was a personal favourite we cut out.
Then once we cut that out. We noticed a load of rust in the bottom of the pockets. So we decided to investigate.
Then we quickly mocked up the overs to see what was covered.
We quickly realised the overs would cover a the bottom of the pockets. As would a BN rear bumper. So we went for the simple solution.
Pocket in the bin. No need for it. No need to dick around remaking it. So it was decided to chop it out and put a flat plate across it. So Ed shaped everything up and trimmed it to where it was needed.
Whilst Ed was finishing that up i stole his 14 and went to the shop to get some motivational beers. I took a nice picture of his 14.
We made a piece to make the inner arch now meet the rear quarter. The tubs are cut as high as the highest point the inner arch allows. So hopefully no rubbing issues.
So we tacked the piece we made in. Then i welded the inside first. As i figured it would be the shittest and most awkward part.
Then onto the outside.
Then trimmed back the excess sheet. Which left us with this.
Nice and neat. We were both pretty pleased considering it was both of our first attempts are rear tubs.
We made a a pannel for the bottom of the tub and for the inner arch to meet that. Then i treated all the fresh metal with rust inhibitor.
Then i put some zince primer on it and that was that. First tub sorted.
Now if I'm honest Ed has done a lot of the work with the metal work on this so far. He has been the one doing a lot of the cutting and pannel making. I am truely greatful for his help. To be honest if it wasn’t for him keeping me motivated on it. I would of sold it by now and bought something already working but he keeps pushing me to keep going and keeps making the 80 mile each way journey to keep helping me. His 14 is now off the road for winter and pretty much the same treatment as the 32 at the minute but hopefully with less scary results when we cut the sils off. So i will be returning the favour and heading up to help him with the 14.
This coupled with the fact its coming up to christmas. Means the progress may be a little slow on the car.
Also Darren, who’s build thread you can find here.

So i hope I havent bored you too much and i will continue to keep you updated with any progress i do make on the car.
