Dick Johnson was badass, anyone who drives a 550bhp RS500 one handed while overtaking a R32 GTR at 190mph, wearing an open face helmet and aviators, and getting interviewed by the commentators, gets my vote.

I lived right round the corner from this as a 2yr old, my mom she we went away when it was on because it was "annoying" WTF!!!!

I was left at home by my parents when this happened.

My favourite machine from that era.

Although the rain at Bathurst 1987 was awesome along with the last lap from the BTCC from Brans 1987 but might have been 88 where Rouse and Soper were busting it for the win.

VHS is the key to happiness.

'88. Soper did a couple of rounds in the Eggenberger Sierra. He beat Rouse earlier in the season at Thruxton so Rouse came back with a newly built engine running more boost when Soper returned for Brands Hatch. Even with the extra boost he still had a close battle with Soper, Rouse had him on the straights but the Eggenberger car had more grip. Epic battle.

is there any wbesite where i can learn more about those R31 Touring car RB20 engines?

all i know so far is the Manifold--> the most awesome Mani ever! and the T04E-Pro

Could you imagine drivers doing that today? Cool.

Anyone got John Clelands last BTCC race in the Cavalier? He was bashing the crap out of the other cars, and was chatting to the commentators over the radio 'yeah they can take my license, I don't need it any more' :D

I know its post 00's but it is still some awesome racing.
Also interested in seeing the video of Cleland bash the crap out of everyone.

1995 at Silverstone? That was the last race for the Cavalier, Cleland needed to finish second to win the manufacturers championship but could only manage third behind the two Lagunas.

That could be the one, was one of the best 90's BTCC races, apart from when Mansell and Tiff had a coming together ;)

I actually recall watching that race, it was in a more modern Cav, his last race before he retired altogether. I think 1999-2000ish?

The 1992 season finale has got to be one of the most enthralling climaxes to a BTCC championship ever.

I remember sitting in the marshals hut at Pembrey in 1993 with my dad on Dibeni Bend. That was the debut of the Mondeo. Awesome times..
