toyota soarer??

Solution

Weld the chassis to the monocoque :D

Interesting post Mycroft. Just wondering...do you still think Soarers don't drift? This whole auto's are better thing is BS though mate. Without a shiter and a clutch you might as well not bother driving a car. Unless it's just for the shopping or going fast in a straight line that is. But as you know...this is a drifting forum so if you're not prepared to get flamed I would leave now :D

But either way you're comments are generally informative...just a wee bit one sided?

cheers guys definetly food for thought think i'll go find a at a nice twin turbo manual and see what i think they sound prity cool though. mostly autos on autotrader.

Yeh whenever i've looked you can only find autos, i think the manuals are very rare. The few times i've seen a manual the seller usually wants double for it. :(

I never said they don't drift, they are reluctant to drift unless you mess with them. At any given speed the Soarer would be the last to drift

I can drift with an Auto, it is much more of a challenge than the monkey-boy antics with a clutch, still you are young and I don't really care to try to educate you, so you carry on in your own way, that way you are happy, I am happy.

One sided? Then argue against my point of view...

Hmmm okay then.

This is a drift forum so here's my arguements for not using auto...

No shift lock
No clutch kick
No handbraking

Do I really need to say more?

So, let me get this right... you are the 'Kings of Drift' yet not one of you can do it in an Auto?

Have I got this right?

You really are 'one trick ponies'?

How ghey are you! :dermal: :dermal: :dermal:

I can drift the auto Terrano runaround at work. it not very nice though, if you back off it changes gear and does all kinds of homo things you don't ask i to:(

Mycroft, that’s possibly the most uneducated statement I've ever heard fall from your fingers. Have you ever driven a manual RWD car? Do you have any idea what drifting is?
What you are doing in your auto is not Drifting, it is power sliding. I therefore throw down the gauntlet, and challenge you a drift duel! Now I know, I know, we are insignificant mere mortals to you, but please we beg you oh wise one, show us the error of our drifty ways :worthy:

To address this more directly...

Shift Lock... err have you driven any Autos lately?

Clutch Kick... using a powerful motor 400hp and the torque converter, who needs it.

Every car has a handbrake and better still you can load the front wheels with braking and still apply power using 2 feet...

As to control... that is just inexperience...

Most people have only driven a cheap-sh!t auto attached to their aunties/uncles 1400cc metro/honda/whatever and they never get to grips with a proper set-up, let alone have the intellect to modify an Auto-box in such a manner as to make it far superior to the Monkey-mangle that you seem so fond of.

Mycroft, put your money where your mouth is. Come to a drift event and show us how its done, PLEASE. Phil's thrown down the challenge and so will i. Im pretty sure Driftybolox would host the challenge on the 12th of Feb in Enstone. Hell, i'll make it fair, i'll use one hand and turn the boost down to 0.3 of a bar for you

walk the walk or STFU

did i say i couldnt drift an auto? stop talking out of your ass :D

you arent stupid, thats clear, but you obviously have no balls. its simple, if you cant put up, then shut up. The challenge is there, you ran away.

hmmmmm - in most forms of sport or any form of a challenge, if you dont show you lose by de-fault.

YOU LOSE

So, now it appears that you can drift an auto... this is fun, so when was the last time you drifted an auto... bearing in mind that >apparently< what you are doing is to quote Phil ''not Drifting, it is power sliding.'' most intriguing... please put us all out of our misery and tell me can you or can't you drift an Auto, because it seems the 'Kings of Drift' are having a right royal disagrement...

il throw this into the "mycroft death pit"

if D1 drivers ...those are the nice chaps in japan im talking about.

use manual boxes, regular or sequential.. and they are supposedly the most talented of the drifters out there...would they use an auto if it was so good and manual was only for monkeys (or whatever you said)

personally the only automatic i have driven was a bmw. it was shite.

i probably cant drift either, but i will stand up for my crazy moving stick in the middle of my car. manual is the way forward. auto is for gimps who are afraid of being in control/taking their hands off the wheel.

plus yes, your thinking of powersliding not drifting.
