XMAS SPECIAL.....OPEN PIT LANE DRIFT DAY.... LYDDEN HILL.... £99 7th Jan

I wasn't even driving today but thought it was a brilliant day!! Lydden staff were helpful and polite, as well as Lez (and your mate who was going to drive the van), props to the marshalls for standing out on track all day, i know from experience it's a crappy job and they must have been freezing!!

Sid had great fun in the Cresta, i'm sure he'll post up but i think the whole track day was perfect. Good price, friendly atmosphere and of course awesome track. I will be trying my hardest to make the next day thats organised.. i need to find my balls :wack:

p.s. agree with the comments on the tyre changing, it was no where near up to scratch unfortunately but i'm sure that will be considered for next time :)

Cracking day today. Big thanks to Lez and to all the staff and marshalls.

Now, who would like to see a few of my photo's from today?

YES :)

We've just watched the footage back as i was filming all day, i hope i got everyone but we'll make a video and post it up later or tomorrow :)

This was my first day drifting a track and was over the moon with how the day went. Had a morning and let my mate jump in car as i said he could and he never done drifting before and 2nd lap binned it and snapped track rod end (bless him). luckily euro car parts in canterbury had one so i went up there and bought one and banged it on when i got back. never quite felt the same but went for giggles!!!

can anyone help with questions on tyres i.e sizes and pressure. im running 205/55/16 as they were cheap and 28psi in front and 40 in rear. is this right or can i improve with these being different.

Footage good I take it :). That reminds me, Andrew filmed us coming back through the Dartford Tunnel and my car made the loudest bang I've ever heard. Can't wait to see the video of it :).

Will post the pictures in a few moments.

Oh P.S was there photographer there today? If there was can his or her details be posted up so we can get pics sent through?
cheers guys

I was there from 10 till 1 and i've got about 300 photos! Half of them are with Daze though, so i'll be uploading whatever i've got with me in the mean time!

Had a great day today playing in my mates sierra will Definatly be going to the next drift day at Lydden but made me want to get the escort back up and running for next time can't wait to see some pics of the day

What a friggin awesome day.

Everyone smashed it, drivers, Marshalls, Lez, Alan.

Tyre guy was slow in the morning but its a learning process, without him there wouldnt have been a drift day at all. They sped up later in the day when they had a couple of helpers.

Thankfully i didn't trash the car and only spun a few times. Got some videos and pics which i will probably upload on Monday.

MB Automtive Team tore it up will definitely be an interesting BDC

Just got back, was a long, eventful day for us but well worth it. Thanks to everyone that offered us help when we were stranded on the m2, lozza for asking everyone to deliver some plates for us, Chris for offering to supply plates and all of the hawkins for the offer of somewhere to store the car and kip if we couldn't get home. Appreciate it all so thanks.

Also, random one but thanks to dan chapmans dad who pulled over at random on the m2 and offered us use of his yard. Really kind thing to do for 2 strangers!

Had a great day after we finally got there, apologies for closing the track twice in 10minutesafter sticking the car in the gravel! Was a tad stressed and went a bit mad, calmed down for the rest of the day :)

So impressed with the level of driving today, i must say, the dude in the red s13.4 was the absolute dog's danglies!

Home at last...

1st MASSIVE thank u to all u guys + girls for making the day, i'd blown my car up by 11 but still had an awesome day and thanks for all ur comments and feed back:thumbs:

2nd, Sorry about the tyre que we never though it would be like that! We are definatly bringing the 2nd tyre machine over next time and will most likely have it set up out the van for more speed, we did our best to help the situation by roping a couple of mates in that had come to be passengers so big thanks to them:nod:

3rd, Sorry for the lack of tyre size options i did do a tyre run at lunch but by the time i'd got back the people needing the odd sizes had gone home, We will be alot better orangised next time

4th The Hero of the Day, This was seriously difficult to decide but we have a winner.....
:worthy:Mr G.HICKS the driver of a Nissan r33:worthy:,
for his great attitude, consistent driving, amogst other things. You have won a half price day next time you come drifting Lydden. I will contact u regarding this

5th Yer we wanna see all the footage and photos u got, i'll bump the southwall smokers (lydden) vids in the media section, be greatful if u can post everything in there so i can always find it:)

Lastly we will be back at lydden on the 18th Feb, This will be a session day and then again on the 12th May and this will be open pit lane again, i will look at capping bookings to max seat time:thumbs:

Hope to see u all again

Awesome!

Really really unsure as to whether i'd want to do the session day? Can you explain more about it? It doesn't sound like you'd get much track time..?

What is the deal with arranging more open pit lane days? Will there be any in between Feb and May?

Sorry for the questions! Today was awesome and I need to do some more skids there!

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME DAY! Best drift day iv'e been to so far without a doubt.

Firstly, the staff were brilliant. So friendly and the older dude who gave the breifing was a true gent and kind bloke.

Secondly, SO much seat time! i wouldnt bother running it in sessions at all TBH, as it sorted itself out towards the end of the day.

Lastly, all the questions and comments i was getting about my escort made me proud, lol.

Will deffo be coming again.

Only gripe, tyre bloke......... not his fault i suppose though.

MB Automtive Team tore it up will definitely be an interesting BDC

Cheers for the comments dude, BDC will definitely be interesting thats for sure :D

Thanks to all the Marshals and Organisers was an epic day, finally got to really test out the Soarer. Day ended early unfortunately due to a fucked clutch :( but on a positive i have 4 tyres left :) lol.

Think it has been said enough but just want to echo the thoughts on tyre changing.

To be fair i think today worked really well, there was so much seat time it was unbelievable so you could of easily had 50 drivers i reckon as some points i'm pretty sure i was the only person on track....

definately going to be booking in may. the open pit lanes are the best option by far!! thanks so much for arranging it!! will the people who done this drift day get priority booking for the next open pit lane in may?
