Northern drift championship teesside autodrome 24/25th march

So youre saying that if I wear my manky pair of shop floor overalls that I used in college, they can be classified as a race suit? Yes they are fire retardent just as that link you posted.....Does your insurance really buy this?! Like really? lol
And yea, the question still stands, what will the "membership" actually do for the drivers? Like what benefits?

P.s. would like to point out that I'm not "moaning" as described by a real bitch with his knickers in a twist (Callum cough cough :P) about stuff, just asking a question and also making a statement that this "race suit" thing is just another way of showing how retarded the people in the insurance companies are, plus a question if my overalls are good enough

I'd rather get something proper, but they said it has to have proban in, whatever that is.
I should be ordering 1 of these next week Class 1 Proban Oulton Racing Suit, best value race suit on the net
Unless I find something else, only £71.30 might aswell go for the best you can afford really.

You and Callum are right moaning bitches.

Hey, it's Callum who's the bitch, I'm just a grumpy f**ker lol

And wey all overalls that you get in college or anything like that have to be fire retardant

Still anything on this membership stuff? want to know what it gives us, discount on food/drink from the cafe? discount on future practice days?

So far the only thing I seen about it, was posted by Jen on FB.
Priority will be given to those who finish/attend privious rounds and club members also get priority when we have limited spaces at practice days which is a for seen problem in the up and coming year .

Not arsed for £20 like, just wanna get over there and skid.

I thought it was £40??? Or did I misread something? Not creating panic. Just asking if I thought right or wrong

Half price if you do NDC mate.

How do I enter?
Firstly you need to join the Northern Drift Club. This enters you into the championship and entitles you to discounts and first refusals on all Teesside Autodrome’s practice days. It costs £40 per year although this will be half price to competitors of 2012.

Ummm that is very confusing! So you can pay £40 and not compete but pay £20 if you compete.....so wtf is this membership for then?! That has me baffled now! Lol

I'm assuming they might/will be discounts on certain things, and members get priority to do practice days.
I can see more practice days being pre-pay like NYE was.

The membership I believe is going back to the "not up to us" statement. Track manager wants prices to be put up so instead of putting prices up, membership comes out... (Think that's how its working out... Going by what I've been told)...

But come on... Its £20? It registers you into the championship, gives discount if prices go up for non members if thats the case... And it pays for the damage to the track easily if many people sign up!

So £20 membership and what, £10 for a set of fireproof overalls? Why's everbody moaning about prices seriously? Even I can afford that!

Too right Callum, the extra cost is nothing really.

Was talking to Bob in the cafe, he was saying Sat practice could be a night time?
Assuming after the karting has finished.

So instead of prices being put up we have to pay for membership, why not just put prices up then? only difference is memebership's have benefits like discounts or certain things or as said priority in future practice days but I dont see that even being needed, whats the most teesside has had turn up for drift practice days? would a priority situation be needed? I dont think enough people ever attend a drift day for this to benefit us.

aint winging as I am paying it it anyway but I want to know where my earned money goes wheather thats only £20 or less and what we can get with it.

Also have we an idea on the classes? is it going to be measured on drivers ability? and is there a proper format for the qualifying days? whats happens exactly etc etc?

From the website:- Home

With this new competition comes a new style of judging which will be more aimed at helping the new comers to the sport feeling they stand a better chance of finishing 1st 2nd 3rd rather than just taking part for the experience.

This will be done by marking the track in sectors much like F1. each sector will then be judged so if an individual spins he will keep some marks for the other sectors he has completed with out spinning.

Qualifying will be done in a simular way with all cars from the the novice and semi-pro class taking to the track at the same time to be judged. All cars will then be split at the middle most point with the upper half becoming the semi-pros and the bottom most half becoming the Novice class.

Every driver will then go through to the finals with a maximum of 32 cars in each class. Giving top 32, top 16, and top 8 before the top 4 battle it out for the 3 trophy winning places. All battles for the Novice and Semi Pro class will be done in a similar way to ‘normal’ twin drifting but the 2 cars will not be so close. This is so that both cars can be judged at the same time but is safe enough to not require full roll cages and stuff.

So whats actually happening with this event. I see you've opened up payment but you really need to sort out whats actually going on as none of the entrants know a thing.

Whats the format for the weekend?
What circuits will we be using?
What time does it start on saturday?
what time does it start on sunday?
What do we get for our membership fee?
Is there secure storage for cars and trailers overnight?
Will there be tyre changing on site?
Whats your full PPE requirements for the drivers?

I could probably keep going for a while. I'd like some confirmed info about the whole weekend before I send any money over and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people intrested in entering feel the same.

Cheers,

Dunkz

Whats the format for the weekend?
Saturday - Practice/Testing on the West Circuit with (time dependant) time on the National Circuit after
Sunday - Practice/Qualifying then Competition all day on the National Circuit

What circuits will we be using?
Answered above.

What time does it start on saturday?
9am (Gates I THINK are open from 7/8am. Await confirmation on that though <)

what time does it start on sunday?
9am (Same - Await confirmation)

What do we get for our membership fee?
The membership is something created by the manager (Bob). He wants a contribution towards track damage by the price of drift days going up. Instead of this, the £20 (2012 competitor price) for Teesside Drifting membership saves you having to pay a higher price if they go up at all (Also - Await confirmation but I THINK this is whats going to happen)

Is there secure storage for cars and trailers overnight?
Yes. The CCTV camera's are fully operational and the paddock/main gates will be locked through the night. Again, I'm not sure what times they'l open/close at but I can assure you they will definitely be locked.

Will there be tyre changing on site?
Be daft not to have tyre changing for a championship? Yes there will be :)

Whats your full PPE requirements for the drivers?
(Think I know what you mean...)
Drivers need a helmet & fireproof overalls (DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A MILLION POUND RACE SUIT - fire proof work overalls are fine). Gloves MAY be needed but again I am unsure here.

(I'm quite proud of that reply... Considering I'm not even organizing the event! Or does it just prove I hear a lot from working there?)

EDIT: Tom - I'l try and find that out for you fella :)
