NORTHERN DRIFT CHAMPIONSHIP
TEESSIDE AUTODROME
This championship has been designed to be an entry level drift competition. If you have done a few practice days and want to compete, but feel you are not yet up to speed to enter The British Drift Championship (BDC), then this could be the place for you.
We are proposing to have 3 separate classes as outlined below.
Amateur
This class is designed for the more novice drifter. The cars will be limited to what modifications can be done. The diff can be altered or locked and the drivers seat belt can be changed to a racing harness. Everything else must be kept standard including all interior and dashboard. No license is required for this class.
Semi-Pro
The main difference for this class compared to the Amateur class is modifications are allowed to the cars. No license is required but no driver with a higher license than a BDC Semi-Pro can participate. Unlike the BDC, a rollcage is not required for this class. This should allow some drivers to get some extra practice and experience before entering the BDC without having to spend time and money on a roll cage and extra safety equipment.
Pro
This is the only class where you can twin drift as in other competitions. Therefore all cars must be prepared to the highest of safety standards such as full cage, harness and fire extinguishers. Only BDC Pro license holders or invited Semi-Pro drivers are allowed to enter this class.
All championship rounds shall be held over two days. The first is a practice day with qualifying and the finals all being on the second day. There will besome differences to the normal drifting rules that will be published as soon as everything has been finalised.
All rounds are to beheld at Teesside Autodrome on the following dates
March Saturday 24[SUP]th[/SUP]and Sunday 25[SUP]th[/SUP]
May Sunday 6[SUP]th[/SUP]and Bank Holiday Monday 7[SUP]th[/SUP]
August Sunday 26[SUP]th[/SUP]and Bank Holiday Monday 27[SUP]th[/SUP]
September Saturday 29[SUP]th[/SUP]and Sunday 30[SUP]th[/SUP].
The cost will be £120 per round and will include both practice and competition day.
How do I enter?
Firstly you need to join the Northern Drift Club. This enters you into the championship and entitles you to discounts and first refusals on all Teesside Autodrome’s practice days. It costs £40 per year although this will be half price to competitors of 2012.
What do I need :
Drivers wishing to part take in Novice and Semi-pro class will be required to be a minimum age of 17 yrs and hold a full UK driving license. A rear wheel drive car of any make, but not a kit car or purpose built race car, suitably powered to be able to drift. A helmet of any make but suitable for motor sport car use. Also a race suit with a minimum of Proban fire proofing is required. A fire extinguisher is recommended but not a necessity. If you are unsure about anything please do not hesitate to contact us.
For all drivers joining us here at Teesside for the first time you should also be aware we have quite extreme weather. So please layer up during winter and in the summer we have the glorious sun trap so plenty of sun cream is needed.
Driver who qualify to part take in the pro class will need to conform to all the safety gear set out by the BDC (British Drift Championship)
