Northern drift championship teesside autodrome 24/25th march

I've told Jennifer that the race suit idea is putting a lot of people off... Maybe something will be changed there for am/semi classes (no twinning involved).

For the first year, you want as many people as possible to enter, keep cost to a minimum, if it takes off, maybe add those rules for next year.

Am/Semi's are twinning, but a distance apart.

Every driver will then go through to the finals with a maximum of 32 cars in each class. Giving top 32, top 16, and top 8 before the top 4 battle it out for the 3 trophy winning places. All battles for the Novice and Semi Pro class will be done in a similar way to ‘normal’ twin drifting but the 2 cars will not be so close. This is so that both cars can be judged at the same time but is safe enough to not require full roll cages and stuff.

Wasn't it already established that doin "twinning" that way is more dangerous than the way the pro's do it in bdc etc spin at 50 and the following car is on your door you slow down together at the same time, or do it the way its said for ndc you spin and slow down but the other cars still coming at you at 50mph is gonna hurt a shit load more than in the first instance if it was already on your door/rear quater doin the same speed etc

I have mentioned it Paul but I'm not going to argue about anything as its still something else thats new that we can enjoy in our region :)

John - I know about that. I was talking to David when he decided on it lol (Twinning). I'l try and get a word in tomorrow between the pro racing sprints (Club 100 karting tomorrow) and see what he says

If we gotta get a race suit then I'll get 1, just my luck to have my credit card limit upped. ;)

But what about passengers? I know during qualifying/competition no passengers, but surely practice we'll be allowed are they supposed to wear a race suit aswell?

Yes thats what I said. They don't need passengers to wear race suits in BDC so I don't see why they'd have to in NDC. Read before you let your mind & fingers take over :P

If the race suit has to happen then mayby they could do a group buy thing to bring costs down. i mean im mayby gonna get 2 rounds mayby 3 rounds done this year if im lucky, all depends on money etc at the time.

Well since I checked this thread there is now a race suit required, and a joining fee (by the way what do we actually get for this) budget is on the up already!

budgets up for me too,now a club joining fee and race suits i didnt realise the open drifting without a licence was going to get like the bdc i thought it was for more enjoyment and to get the chance to try out at something new and then progress.maybe il have check out my budget again.:(

As soon as we use the wording competition or championship we then have to make sure race suits, helmets and gloves are worn this is down yet again to our insurance .No passengers are allowed in cars on competition day but prior days the normal rules apply

You are looking in the wrong kind of places for suits. All you need minimum is a Proban set of overalls. This gives 'some' fire protection. After about 20 seconds of looking on the internet I found this.

Proban Protective Workwear | Protec Direct

25 quid to me isn't much for a bit of added safety.

As I have seen members of my family and close friends getting burnt and the long term damage that this has caused I think that this is more than acceptable.

What we have to wear gloves now? What kind of gloves? Link to acceptable pair please.

Anything else we gonna have to buy or is this it?

Are these acceptable as suits? £10.20 delivered http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290670909130

Yes John. Good find. However I wouldn't wash them as the listing says you can as you would was the proban out!

And no - sorry, you are not required to wear gloves. Though we would advise a nice pair of racing gloves.
