When I finished my last set of shifts at work, as I was leaving the multi-story at work, my exhaust caught on a bollard holder in the ground...and basically stretched my flexi in the exhaust, so bad that it was basically sat on the floor...
Another fucking problem eh!! Anyway, ordered a new flexi and took it to Weld AC and asked him to replace the flexi that was already there with this new flexi
He did that and I got the exhaust back with the new flexi welded in, feeling relieved it was sorted, I had to wrap it first as the passenger footwell gets a bit warm on journeys...
After it was wrapped I got the car up on axle stands and went about fitting it...massive headache!!
It seems that when the exhaust has caught, its also bent the elbow somehow so now the exhaust sits way too low!! At this point I felt like giving up and throwing the S13 to the back of the drive and forgetting about it for a few months - left the car and went to work(on nights all weekend urgh....)
Decided as I was walking home from work this morning that I was gonna get a few hours kip in and then wake up and crack on and try a sort it, seen as Amy and Scarlett were out for the day...
Did some cutting...
and measuring...
and tacking...
and finally welding...
Its not as high as previous, but only by like 5mm or so, so im happy with it!!
Not happy that i've used my mig welder without the correct wire/gas - but if I took it back to Weld AC then its another 2 day wait and also means I can't tack and test fit it on the car...
Hopefully it will last a year or 2 then I will get a proper job done, something that sits extremely high all the way along - currently not a fan of my japcan on the back, it looks shit
Amy surprised me with some new characters for The Avengers collection on my dashboard! Can anybody guess who the new additions are?? (hint: theres 3)
Also got some new rubber fitted on the rear wheels seen as I managed to also get a flat tyre on the way home from my last set of shifts...
After fitting the exhaust and taking it for a quick spin up the road, I heard a sizzling sound every couple of seconds - opened the bonnet and saw that one of the heater matrix pipes is dripping - so will take that off at some point and fix that and also look at the power steering finally!

2 things happened this week because of 1 thing...
These 2 things make dailying the S13 much nicer...
I bought this on a whim, hoping to build it up quickly and get some use out of it as a mega cheap drifter...
When I finally got it back to mine, even whilst on the recovery truck I could see that it was beyond help - it needs whole new inner/outer sills and potentially floor pan/chassis rails - the list goes on!!
It came with some nice bits though including a 1UZ V8(Don't worry, its sold...im not putting it in this...) and some coilovers, and some other bits and bobs so I decided to break it for parts in the hope of making my money back and maybe a bit extra.
Anyway, the most annoying thing at the moment is that my doors didn't stay open! they were missing the pin that holds the bracket to keep the door open...
But lucky for me this shell had them! Out came the hammer and 2 minutes later, I had 2 of these....
5 minutes later I had got them installed and it meant I could open the door and not have to kick it half way through entering/exiting the vehicle(especially on a incline...)
Also as some of you will know, my exhaust has been causing me problems!! Well with this shell came with a J Performance elbow back exhaust - I have nicked the cat back section and fitted it to mine:
Now the exhaust sits a lot higher and also the exhaust actually sits properly in the bumper exit hole! Not kinked and angled to one side...
I think my steering rack leak has miraculously fixed itself, but whilst doing my exhaust I noticed a lot of oil around my diff(Yes...diff again, wtf?!) - so I will have to whip that out at some point and rectify the issue, Im hoping its just the back plate that's leaking, but its looking more like the front pinion seal which I'm not sure if that's beyond my capabilities as I've never set a diff up before...
any advice welcome?

Yesterday I had booked a day off work, but had no real idea why(must have booked it ages ago and plans got cancelled, or booked it off to look after Scarlett but since sorted it...)
Spoke to my buddy Jamie at Jimbob's Motors and he was working at his unit so I asked if I could use his ramp - he kindly said yes! Lucky me I finally had a ramp to use!
First thing was to swap my mid-section of the exhaust, as you can see the one I recently fitted had a big chunky silencer in it(on the right) and the new one was smoothed and thinner so it would sit higher...
Finally got it fitted up but I think it's made things worse unfortunately as it seems to be longer by about 10-15mm which means the backbox is pushed out and the hangers are wedged against the back of the car - I think this is gonna be a case of taking it to an exhaust place and just give them the car with the exhaust fitted and just ask them to kindly make it sit right and sit super duper high!
Next on the list was changing my rear handbrake setup with one that came in the S13 I bought and decided to break
Never done this before but managed ok, just a bit fiddly, especially getting the cable attached to the shoe!
Handbrake is great now, not that high either - probably need new cables at some point though
Then I also fitted these top dash vents that I also got from the other S13, as when I took my dash out, they just snapped into millions of little pieces
Next on the list was fixing a water leak I had from the bottom heater matrix pipe - took the pipe off and gave it a good helping of gaffa tape! Put the pipe back on and put a fresh Mikalor hose clamp around it and it seems to have done the job sufficiently!
My diff was also leaking but I narrowed it down to the braether at the top leaking out so I will remove that at some point and bung it up although I'm not sure if bunging it up will cause any problems with pressure inside the diff casing? It must be breathing for a reason right? Any pointers?

So yesterday I went to Jamie's again and he kindly let me borrow his ramp again!(Such a legend)
Decided I was going to pull the box and try and diagnose why I had to push my clutch right down and into the firewall just to put it into gear...
First up was draining the oil and removing the prop
Then the simple task of removing the box, baring in mind I run an S15 Spec R 6 Speed box in my S13 - the gearbox itself is alot bigger...which means getting it out is a PAIN IN THE ARSE!! Luckily Jamie had a big pry bar and we forced it out...
Reminder - take a lump hammer to the tunnel before putting the gearbox back in to make it easier to fit!
Then I removed the clutch and flywheel
Results were not very good... The flywheel had alot of hot spots
The clutch looks to have been slipping(although never noticed it when i've been driving around)
and the pressure plate was the same as the flywheel...
The release bearing was knackered aswell!
Spoke to Simon Perry @ CG Motorsport and I am dropping the lot off with him on Friday morning and hopefully will get some good results back!
Also decided to change my steering rack as it was leaking from the top where the steering input joint connected...
After taking it off the car and comparing against the new one, I noticed why it was leaking...
Seems it was missing this little cover! Could have been a simple fix...
Got the new one fitted and called it a day, proceeded to go home and drown my sorrows by watching some drifting on Youtube for the evening...as you do.
Mapping is booked in with MB Automotive next month, for supplying and fitting a Nistune and also mapping my car to make sure its running good ready for Driftcup next year - hopefully after my clutch issue is sorted then theres only very minimal stuff left to do in preparation!

Ye clutch damper gone, bled the slave multiple times using different methods and all came back fine and no, but my clutch was fine last year, same gearbox and same release bearing and bearing carrier, but I had a DMF and stock clutch last year with the DMF - so it definitely points towards the Flywheel and clutch causing the issue - they were second hand when I bought them and in not so great condition but expected them to last a little longer tbh

Small update...
Managed to get the flywheel and clutch dropped off Thursday lunch time, and then got a message yesterday lunch time(less than 24 hours later) saying that it would be ready just after lunch!! Flew over about 1.30pm and picked it up - Super happy with the service and can't thank Simon Perry and the guys @ CG Motorsport enough!! Absolutely amazing and second to none.
I am also rocking a 5 paddle clutch now which should be a lot better than the full organic that was in before...also got a 5mm bearing carrier extension which will hopefully fix my clutch issue and make changing gear much easier!
Now to find time to get it fitted this week and get some road miles on it and then one more thing ticked off the list ready for mapping next month...

So I spent most of Wednesday and yesterday afternoon up at Jamie's unit, as he was kind enough to let me use his ramp to get some stuff done on the S13 before its off to be mapped next month!
Wednesday's job was getting the new flywheel/clutch and gearbox back in! This took a little longer than planned and I didn't get any photos at all!
After fitting the clutch/flywheel and new release bearing with a small extension all seemed to be ok
Next was to get the exhaust sorted as it was so close to the ground that it just kept dragging on the floor!
Cut the ends off of the rear exhaust hangers as they were right up against the back of the car, also added a genuine rare jubilee exhaust hanger - super rigid and adjustable! cheap aswell!
The exhaust can go higher but its catching on the body here, mainly where the stud for the rear nut for the front seat mounts attaches to - may look at this at a later date but for now this works ok
Love the space in Jamie's unit and its nice and light which is ideal
Just as I was laying in bed that night, I remembered that I needed new track rod ends as I had mashed the threads trying to get them out(doh!) - panic'ed a bit as I wanted to take the car for a test drive day after.
Needed S14 rod ends so get them ordered first thing and they arrived by 1.30 so got them fitted
Rough eyelignment and fitted the bumpers - also found that the exhaust now sits bang in the middle of the rear bumper which is ideal!
Took it out and I am happy to report that my clutch now works like a dream, goes into each gear perfectly and also with it being 5 paddle now its a bit more bity which I like. The exhaust barely catches which is ideal, still think it could be raised higher though. Also noticed that the steering was way out of wack!
Got back and everything was still on the car, apart from one thing...tbf it was held on with glue lol so I will sort that out sharpish
Then checked the alignment again and you can tell the passenger side is toeing out bloody loads! Tried to amend this by eye so hopefully now its a bit more even across the board.
Also tried to use Jamie's new alignment gear but my car is too low and the laser that comes back actually hits the chassis!! So meaning we need to raise the car on some blocks of wood before doing this again...
I'll be going over next week to swap it for the E39 for the weekend so I can bed the clutch in a bit over the weekend before it goes for mapping...

Nothing crazy, 1998 R34 4 Door - RB25DE Auto - 60k Miles on the clock - completely stock - will be a good replacement for the E39.

hahahaha it may get coilovers and wheels at some point, and I may cut a silencer or 2 out of the exhaust but that's it, I want a comfy/reliable/practical clean daily haha!!

Since fitting the new clutch and flywheel, I couldn't help but think something wasn't right...when you tried wiggling the fork in the box there was no free play whatsoever!
Spoke to my cousin who works at a machining shop and he said he could happily make me up a few different width spacers - the one originally on there was 5mm, but the new ones I got made were 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm - First up we tried putting the 3mm on instead of the 5mm spacer, in theory I was hoping this was going to give a bit of extra room between the release bearing and the forks on the pressure plate.
Me and Jamie got the box on and running in no time at all and it felt alot better than before so I am now hoping that it is resolved completely now and the box won't have to come out for a good few years!
Also got a couple pictures with the new daily - hoping it will be registered soon too as I sent the documents off last Tuesday so hoping they are making progress!
Then there were 3! You can't have too many S13's can you? I bought another S13 which has some nice goodies i'll be keeping to upgrade mine(mainly HSD Monopros, to replace my HSD Dualtechs)...
As one arrives, one goes - the blue 1 was off to its new home after being stripped of everything!
My passenger door lock hasn't worked since the new doors were fitted when the car was painted. Stole the passenger door lock from the recently purchased S13 and got to stripping my door down to fit the new one..
Whilst fitting everything back up - I noticed that the bar that connects the door lock to the mechanism wasn't quite right...so I went to the other car and checked and got the bar out for comparison and found that the one in my car was mega bent!! No surprise it wouldn't connect up and work properly.
Anyway I got all this fitted and got my passenger door locking properly, but the central lock still wouldn't work!! After spending 10-15 minutes checking things - I decided to message Norfy...He asked if the main controller in the drivers door was plugged in...HOW COULD I FORGET?! Anyway this wasn't plugged in, plugged it in and it worked a treat - jobs a good un!!
Also knicked this boot trim just to try and neaten things up
And I also found a floor mat and a drinks holder in the S13 which i've added to mine to try and make the passengers experience a more comfortable environment lol
then Friday we went to a local car meet, and little madam helped me wash the car beforehand!
Mapping is getting ever closer and I need to do a boost leak test asap and then just give the car a nut and bolt check and also raise it

Another hectic 2 weeks before the car goes off for mapping in the morning.
A few minor things first...
Gorilla Glued the rear number plate light back in place
I also did the front indicator that fell out but no pictures...
Whilst I was waiting for the Gorilla glue to set, I decided to get the polish out and give my exhaust tip a quick going over as it's been bugging me a little recently that it looks dirty!

With the bumper fitted:
I also painted and re-fitted my gearstick surround panel(I don't know the actual name for this bit??). The paint re-acted unfortunately and left these slit like marks in it, but I quite like them and think they add a bit of character to it so they will be staying for now(plus im way too lazy to properly sand it all down etc lol)
As I said in my previous post, I was going to be stealing the HSD Monopro's off of the Red/Silver S13 that I bought, and I did just that! They are already at a "raised" height to make the shell easy to get on/off a recovery truck which was ideal...
Got them fitted and immediately wanted to lower it lol, it's so high!
One thing when fitting them was that I noticed the front damper adjusters were seized - so got onto Driftworks and ordered 2 new ones which arrived the next day
Got them fitted in a jiffy with a 9mm spanner and an allen key.
Few days later on my way to work one morning, a ticking noise started from the driver's rear wheel area...now is not the time for problems with mapping only 5 days away!! Annoyed I nipped home on my break and jacked the car up and had a good look around underneath and noticed that my driver's inner CV boot was split on the driveshaft - ah ha! Found ya!
Packed the car so I could stay at work after i've finished and go into the multi-story we have there to change my driveshaft...
I got the driveshaft done and the diff oil topped up in less than an hour - I wanted to top the diff oil up without removing the exhaust so I only had 2 small gaps to work with but eventually did it...
Anyway, packed up again and headed home but the ticking was still there!! Put a post on Facebook and alot of people suggested Handbrake cables on the propshaft, now i've had this before and I thought "Surely not again?!"
The next day I jacked the car up and had a look and found nothing, so decided to take the wheel off and have a closer look, went to undo the nuts and they weren't even tight!! Ooooops!! I was rushing on Saturday to get the coilovers swapped over that I forgot to re-check my nuts once I had dropped it on the floor...Bloody amateur!! Anyway, noise was fixed.
After speaking with Martin @ MB Automotive, he recommended I do an oil and filter change and also put fresh spark plugs in ready for the mapping session - so I did just that, got them all ordered and fitted(OEM Nissan Filter and BKR7EIX Spark Plugs at the recommendation of MB.)

With all the maintenance work done on the car I was happy, and all it needed now was fuel....
Also stole these side trim pieces off of the shell to fit to my S13 as mine have faded and are looking worn, but they don't seem to sit right which is a bit annoying so I'll be having a look at that in more detail when the car's back from mapping
Then had a trip to Shell @ 4am to fill it with V-Power ready for some caning on the dyno by Martin, excited but nervous about the results... Obligatory petrol station shot.
Thursday dinner time I came home on my lunch break and walking into the kitchen I was greeted by this:
I was gob-smacked and couldn't believe it lol, it might not be massive but it was super surprising and such a nice gesture from Amy
Also I got a towbar fitted to Amy's Tiguan now that the BMW has been replaced and I also have my B+E Trailer test booked for next week so fingers crossed! No more driving to events...
Currently working a night shift as I update this, and when I finish at 7am, my buddy Jamie will be outside waiting to load my S13 onto his recovery truck and then we'll head straight down to MB Automotive and drop the car off ready for the Nistune to be fitted and a dyno session.
*UPDATE*
The car has now been dropped off with MB safe and sound and we are on our way home, can't wait to pick it up! Can't thank Jamie enough for spending his day doing this for me, it means lots!
A few minor things first...
Gorilla Glued the rear number plate light back in place
I also did the front indicator that fell out but no pictures...
Whilst I was waiting for the Gorilla glue to set, I decided to get the polish out and give my exhaust tip a quick going over as it's been bugging me a little recently that it looks dirty!

I also painted and re-fitted my gearstick surround panel(I don't know the actual name for this bit??). The paint re-acted unfortunately and left these slit like marks in it, but I quite like them and think they add a bit of character to it so they will be staying for now(plus im way too lazy to properly sand it all down etc lol)
As I said in my previous post, I was going to be stealing the HSD Monopro's off of the Red/Silver S13 that I bought, and I did just that! They are already at a "raised" height to make the shell easy to get on/off a recovery truck which was ideal...
Got them fitted and immediately wanted to lower it lol, it's so high!
One thing when fitting them was that I noticed the front damper adjusters were seized - so got onto Driftworks and ordered 2 new ones which arrived the next day
Got them fitted in a jiffy with a 9mm spanner and an allen key.
Few days later on my way to work one morning, a ticking noise started from the driver's rear wheel area...now is not the time for problems with mapping only 5 days away!! Annoyed I nipped home on my break and jacked the car up and had a good look around underneath and noticed that my driver's inner CV boot was split on the driveshaft - ah ha! Found ya!

Ye Somersham, right treck and hard to find his unit if you don't know where it is
Gonna get it trailered back up, if I pass my trailer test then I might hire a trailer and get it myself otherwise get Jamie to collect it for me again

Really good read, it's come a long way and looks like a decent set up now. I remember my neighbours loved it when I had a second/spare chassis sat on the drive (or not ha ha) though one of the local dog walkers commented that their kids liked it so not all bad.
Saw you got a ticket for the next/last public Rockingham day, send me a pm and we can sort something out, get a bit of twinning going

So, the car is all mapped and done, running 1.2bar boost on Nistune ECU, Road mapped and Martin says it feels around 280hp which to me seems like plenty to have some fun with!!
Also as Dan's comment above, I managed to bag myself a drivers ticket for the last Meihan Rockingham day ever!! It's a week on Sunday and I don't even have the car back yet lol.... Best pull my finger out!!
Last Thursday, day off work, I had to get up at 6.45am.... For this...
7 hours later I had this in my hand...
Only gone and passed my bloody B+E Trailer Test!!! Over the moon and finally means I don't have to drive my car to every event lol
2 days later I was scouring Facebook and got tagged in something, agreed with Amy that it's best to get it whilst I can.... So ended up buying this...
It's a Brian James Clubman Trailer, 14ftx6ft2 tilt bed with a tyre rack built in, mega happy with it!!
Lucky for me, this is 1 hour North of Martin(who is 3 hours south of me). So my plan is to go down Saturday and pick this up with the Tiguan and then carry on down to Martin's and pick up my S13! Then haul them both back to good ol' Yorkshire.
In preparation I've ordered these:
Recovery wheel straps, I have loads of 3" ratchet straps in my shed thanks to my brother!
Also bought this:
Cheap as chips on trade and this means I can use the tilt bed function of the trailer as the handle that normally does it has snapped off unfortunately.
Anywayyyy, enough about that...
Few quick updates on the R34:
IT'S ON THE ROAD!
We went to Blackpool in it and it was perfect
Also ordered and fitted some proper Japanese sized number plates, if you check the petrol station shot above you'll see the difference..
Also a fellow Driftworks member @thyfartismurder visited to buy some bits off me for his 180sx... It is mega clean and so so nice!! Pleasure meeting you dude!
The Engine management light is staying on which is a tiny bit annoying especially since the car runs perfect.
Did the old paperclip trick
Then stuck them in the top right 2 pins looking at this pic to Bridge them, which meant the engine light flashes on the dash and tells you the fault code
Did this and got 21 - which is ignition signal.... Which would suggest its misfiring, but its not, completely the opposite... So god knows!!
Anyway, next update once I've got the car back!
