OMG!! what a day, i duno what happened but being in intermediate unleashed a beast in side me haha loved it...
once again well done lydden and Lesaroooo these days are getting better and better..

massive thanks to Lez and lydden team. thought the day ran really well! hopefully will stay with 4 groups for max seat time:(

:) was an amazing day, really enjoyed it! even though i wasn't driving it myself, my car performed well!

seriously hope they stick to 4 groups though, even with 4 there is too many cars on track (specially in novice) seemed to spend half the time queuing in novice group, what with cars spinning (which is to be expected of course) or not keeping speed! not sure why we end up slowing down so much from chessons into devils elbow when nothing had spun on it??

I hear snetterton only had 20-25 cars on Sunday bet that was awesome! was amazing when we went up in march, sure people would be prepared to pay a bit more to have less cars at lydden i know we definitely would, just a thought? costs us over twice as much to get up to snetterton/hotels and travel but for the seat time you get its worth it! :)

Also the signing on was a bit weird i thought seemed to be worse having passengers sign on after 9, specially as the first group was due out at the time? i think it works better with passengers being able to sign on with the driver if poss, snetterton have the forms online so you can print them off and have them ready to speed things up, maybe lydden could do the same?

Was my first drift day, and what an awesome day, seemed to be run very well, and I will be coming back for sure! Really do hope it will stay as only 4 groups too, 5 will be too much. Only gripe was the fact the passenger price was put up to £20, any reason for this?

yeah i was expecting to pay £10 but always was £20 before, think ive only paid ten once, is a bit steep.

snetterton charge £10 for passengers and your allowed ten free spectators with you too. but is soooo far away

Evening, seems like most had a pretty good day shame about the few crashes but glad everyone was ok. Lydden were happy with the event as was i, Theres about 400 odd photos on our Facebook page (southwall smokers drift team) so go have a look and feel free to tag/share or download them.

Lydden have now asked me about running a grass roots drifting championship down there, We'll most likely do this next year but we have to plan next years calander now.
What do you guys think? Would any of you be up for doing this?? It wont be open to BDC drivers/licence holders and the idea is that it stays grass roots, cheap to do and fair. We prob wont do twinning though as then people wont require a rollcage which will keep the costs down and we'd get some independant judges for it too. Thoughts below please....

.... Yes! That is all.

Edit - Didn't think of that! Agree with below couple posts, only if its in addition to usual practice days.

Na, Competitive drifting without twinning is like a jammie dodger with no jam.

There is already the ODC, Lydden could always get involved with that? Please dont reduce the seat time at practice days for any sort of comp imo, keep practice days that and fun :)

if its an additional day then yeah why not! id be up for it :) but yeah i agree twinnings where its at, we do it in practise days now without stipulation for a cage, so i dont see the issue if someone was judging who drove better?

Insurance is a complete different ball game when it comes to competitions..

Plus it's different twinning with a mate, then twining with any'old jack in a 500quid BMW shit box feed with Ricky Emery ego..

Sounds like a good idea to me, if as above they are extra days from the normal practise days ( maybe run them as a weekender with practise on saturday and the comp on the Sunday?)

I know it was last week now. But had an awesome day. This was the 5th time I ve done lydden and have to agree that 25 cars is to many in a group. You can't get a good run in down the hill without queuing up and it has been the same for the last few I ve done there. But my last 2 sessions of my day (didn't make the last after me crash) were half empty and were awesome. My best drifting ever. Can't wait for the next one in June.

Have to agree with you there mate, the last 2 sessions of the day were nuts and actually felt like I was getting some proper seat time.

First time being at Lydden and not drifting, was fun watching and being passenger. Looks like it went well for everyone. Glad the 5th group was cancelled.

The grass roots thing sounds amazing! but why cage requirement? that's silly. it's no different to the safety on normal drift days!
or could have team events. teams being judged on the best drift trains BOOOOOOOOOOOm

for example

i'm not keen on hitting a random persons door though, they may not like it. keep it with friends!
