New to drifting?

another "new to drifting, and looking to buy my first RWD" guy here....but with a slightly different problem. you see, where i live, the usual drift cars that you guys talk about are rare and quite pricey (or atleast relative to my budget). heck, RWD cars are pretty damn uncommon around here. the only RWD cars that i've found so far that fit within my budget would be some old alfa romeo alfettas, mitsubishi sigma scorpion (but i've only found 2 of them so far), old RWD celicas, mazda 929s (also a bit uncommon), and some very ancient stuff (hillman minx, morris minor 1000, peugeot 504, old beetles, etc.). which out of these would you recommend to a drift n00bie? i've heard that it's better to learn to drift on a car that isn't all that powerful, and doesn't have power steering, so you have to rely on your technique. so would it better to get the ancient stuff? but then, parts for the ancient stuff are pretty hard to come by, so repairwork would be a PITA.

Hi Mike,

Normally i would just say "use the search button" as this is our most asked question and there are lots of answers that have all been said before.

But as you're in the USA it will be almost impossible for us in the UK to know what stuff costs to buy and fix over there. You might wanna search out some more US focused drift sites for help like that, I only know of DRIFTING, DRIFTING.com off the top of my head. Although theres lots of drift related sites over there, maybe that would be a better topic - What are the best drift sites or forums in the US !!

Welcome to :dw:

Hello everybody at DW,
My names Dean and I'm looking for my first drifter. I've seen a Nissan 200sx S13 Or a BMW E36 that I'm intrested in purchasing but Im not currently aware of the average price to tansport it from Norfolk to Birmingham. I'd be greatful if anybody could make a recomendation on reputable companies to use.

Welcome Dean,

On here you have:

Mitch - username Mitch who is a mod on the forum and runs a garage
Rich - username chunk who helps people with this and is based near Santapod
George - username GmasterT might also be able to help if chunkle cant

Not sure if any of the others who have just started up like Doritech (clarkey on here) DA Automotive (Polo on here) or maybe the Garage Sexpest (Initial_J or Cefiro on here) guys might be able to help.

Hope this helps,

J.

Hi guys
Just signed up on here but I have been on trampdrift for a while now.

Okai, I have just brought a 1994 Nissan 200sx 1.0 Turbo (CA18DET) :smash:, what sort of mods should I do before I even think about hitting the track ?
Please remember being 16 Im on less than a shoe string budget:(

Its been said lots of times mate.

Search button and reading some of the stickies in this section will help.
